  1. I would not imagine it will be silly money. If it is at the Amex I would imagine it would be supported by the sponsors.
  2. I see Charley Powell went well at Birmingham last night. 8 + 1 from 7 rides and that includes a fall while leading. Another good prospect
  3. Just what I was thinking. Looks like a four horse race for the title to me and yes, I think Coventry look very good with all their home matches to come still. Am I reading it wrong or did 'Lord of the shale' really suggest that the starting marshal left the tapes cone on the track causing a rider to crash? Surely that would be a re-run and more of a talking point!
  4. From how I understand it, Tom cannot join the NL next year as you have to be a certain age at the start of the season and not being the right age means you miss the whole season so yes, it would be 2017 for Tom. (I think). I see Charley is riding at Birmingham tonight. Will be interesting to see how he goes but what worries me is him ending up getting an average if he rides too much and not being able to sneak him is at reserve next year.
  5. being an Eastbourne supporter, that's nice to hear. Unfortunately most clubs have the minority that make everyone look bad, even Eastbourne!
  6. Yes, Tom Brennan certainly looks class. I cant wait to see him lining up at the tapes alongside Kelsey. Yep, I will be at Mildenhall as well. Have not missed a match home or away this season (apart from the fours).
  7. Certainly there are some young prospects in Eastbourne Colours this year. Bradley Wilson-Dean clearly is at least Premier League bound and Gergie Wood has exceeded expectation. Kelsey will surely have a great future as well.
  8. I didnt take your comments as stirring at all and my response was just a part of a forum discussion, same as the others that responded to your post. Shame if you were just stirring, I had wrongly thought your comments were a genuine concern about youngsters.
  9. I like Eastbourne to win home and away but turning over a team that is really struggling does not give that much pleasure. Kent have a great stadium and it is a cracking place to watch speedway. If they can get the racing and the team right, surely they are on a winner.
  10. What a breath of fresh air this management is! Making a quick signing because the averages change tomorrow? Brilliant move and I believe does not weaken the team at all. Very pleased. Then they should set an age limit. Leagues are also there to be won and imo, a team should be put together to win within the rules. Speedway is also a business and Eastbourne need success. Kent seem to be getting a good turn out for a struggling team but I am not sure Eastbourne could.
  11. Yep, kind of expected though. Should be able to protect that lead at home I reckon! Shame about David if he has broken his ankle. Sods law that he drops to 3rd in the averages on 1st July so we cant use Bradley as an R/R ride!
  12. We came away last night feeling disappointed despite the win. Heats 13 and 15 could have been good races and we missed them. I know there is not much they can do about a curfew and I am sure they fought against such an early one. They certainly cant start much earlier! What annoyed me more than anything is the way it was announced. I knew they had a curfew but assumed it was 9pm. When they were attending to David I was starting to wonder but when they cracked on with no mention of the curfew, not forewarning, I assumed we would be okay but all of a sudden they announce that's it! How about an announcement when the racing restarted telling us that it will have to end early? I know the home fans would know but the away fans don't all know.
  13. Yeh same with us, We were sat about one row from the front of that stand. I do have a bit more sympathy regarding track watering since I have been helping Martin with the new one at Arlington (a work in progress). It does seem a fine art an so easy to over water! We could have just moved I guess but I have a habit of plonking my arse down somewhere and staying put!
  14. I was sat there as well, second row from front. Were you the guys sat towards the top on the left? The stand certainly had a good covering of dust by the end of the meeting didn't it? Great place for viewing though.
  15. No, it was the guy with the clipboard and shirt n tie.
  16. Nice close match that could have gone either way. Generally a good meeting, just a shame Eastbourne could not sneak the win. Does anyone know what went on with the Clerk of the course, well I think it was him, the guy with the blue shirt and tie seeing the riders on and of the track etc? There seemed to be some arm waving and heated words at track side before he removed his tie and threw it on the deck and walked off. The announcer said that there would be a small break in the racing and the next thing the ref seems to be chatting with him before he returns and collects his tie to put back on. Felt a bit sorry for him as later in the meeting he seemed to get 'Accidentally' soaked by the guy watering the track.
  17. Whether it is or it isn't, he has every right to post and should not feel he cant and I am sure he doesn't. They only thing I would say is to be careful about posting stuff on forums that maybe should be in confidence. Regarding Kelsey, he is always going to have a bit of a hard time from fans and his family. I am sure Martin had a hard time from Bob. Kelsey is doing great as far as I am concerned. Even Lewis Hamilton said the other week that if you don't come off, you aint trying hard enough! Kelsey is doing fine and I am sure most Eastbourne fans think so. Yeh, his falls could be costly but I am sure he doesn't enjoy them.
  18. Yes, I was surprised with the Kirby thing. It appears he must have been excluded in two rides but I thought he had not entered them, very strange. Didnt have much of an issue with the time for the break. Track needed watering as it was getting dusty and they cant have known the green light was going to blow, Fact is, there were so many faller's and 2 minute exclusions, it was always going to be a long meeting. In general, it was far from the best meeting we have had and I think maybe Bradley needs to accept defeat sometimes. He could have got injured in heat 15 going for a win we didnt need.....Thats just a small constructive criticism. I love racers and he sure is one.
  19. I know that Richard, Georgie, David and Bradley all had a slide and were happy. Saw Richard working on set up.
  20. I think changes to the Brum team make them weaker but it could still be a close match. Eastbourne by 10
  21. I like all this talk of a close match and as long as we progress to next round, it will be nice. I think its more likely to be an easy win for Eastbourne
  22. I have to admit that I had not heard of him but just read up on Google. Anyone that dies doing the sport I love has my respect. It always makes you remember how dangerous our beloved sport is. What an awful way to go as well. http://www.brummiespeedway.co.uk/czech1.htm https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zden%C4%9Bk_Kudrna I had to write on hear as it is a shame to see a thread remembering a lost rider receive just the one reply. If just a few people click on the links above I will be pleased. Just hope I have the right person. I will feel a bit stupid then. Please confirm I have guitar_art
  23. I am not getting in to a debate. I am just trying to help the club with some equipment and merely pointing out that its not as easy as us 'keyboard warriors' think. Just gotta look at our weather conditions for a start. Baking hot yesterday and its pouring today!
  24. I am trying to help with the watering situation. You can see this on Martins and ITFirsteagles twitter. Not sure what I am involved in will be watering the track during meetings but it will be used in the build up to meetings. I have found out a fair bit about watering tracks and it seems it is a bit of a fine art to make sure it does not get too wet but is dry enough to stop dust. I wont go in to it but I was a bit surprised. I thought you just put water down!
  25. That's why I used the word ironically. I have always hated the playoffs but I think we would win them 'IF' we had them in this league. Yep. I think the NT is a no brainer and we have a cracking chance in the KO Cup
