2014 European Speedway Championships
Ghostwalker replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in International World of Speedway
Grigorij injured himself in a Russian league meeting in June (maybe about a month ago or so). It was after he had won a heat, he put his foot down on the track but it got stuck between the ground and the foot rest so he broke it (again). He is expected to be away for another 3 weeks are so. You have an article in Swedish here: http://www.speedwaynyheter.se/smederna/smedstjarna-skadade-sig-i-ryssland/ -

How Can Sweden Afford To Pay The Top Riders
Ghostwalker replied to cityrebel's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
In we Sweden we have these speedway school as well: http://www1.idrottonline.se/SmedernaSpeedwayforening-MotorcykelochSnoskoter/Ungdom/OKQ8Speedwayskola/ I think they are quite popular but the main problem is to get the riders to continue with speedway at a higher level. From the spedway school to 80cc and from 80cc to 500cc racing. Many quits because it becomes too expensive. I think this why DK is so successful. Hd The clubs & the federation are very supportive towards the riders, i.e. when it comes to finding sponsors and etc. -

Weather is always a big factor. Two weeks ago Smederna had only 2000 in the attendances the weather had been grey with rain showers for several days. Yesterday the weather was pretty warm and sunny and the attendance was almost 4000. -
Hammarby speedway still have huge problems with their track Gubbängen. The problem have been their the entire season and consists of large chunks of the track that comes loose during racing on the track. Today a referee made a an examination of the track and he noticed that the problem still exists and the track remains as not approved for racing. If the problems is not fixed at noon tomorrow then tomorrow's meeting between Hammarby and Griparna will be postponed, This meeting was originally held in May but was aborted due to the problems mentioned above. I very much doubt that a problem which have been there for a month and a half, suddenly will be fixed within 24 hours. So the most likely scenario is that Hammarby -Griparna tomorrow will be postponed again and that Hammarby either have to withdraw from Allsvenskan or use other tracks like Eskilstuna or Hallstavik for their remaining home meetings this season. http://www.sn.se/sport/1.2494692

Speedway Champions League ?

RR, no Zagar is in for a minimum of 28 days after that Holder will re-take his place in the squad as soon as he returns from injury. -
Speedway Champions League ?

This why CL won't work since both Ward and Holder also rides for Piraterna. For Piraterna they only have Greg and Bjarne left as well as two lower string Swedish riders. -

The attendance average for Allsvenskan is almost 780: http://ta.svemo.se/Public/Pages/Serie/Audience/AudienceStatistics.aspx?SerieId=591 Div 1 have low attendances: http://ta.svemo.se/Public/Pages/Serie/Audience/AudienceStatistics.aspx?SerieId=595 but the costs are also much smaller, most of the teams in Div1 are subsidiaries of Elitserien or Allsvenskan teams and those Div1 teams are used as both a sort of "development teams" for new 500cc riders and for those Swedish riders who rarely gets to ride in Elitserien. -

1. Some clubs also own their own track, but those who don't usually pay rent. Also many teams have worked hard to improve the standard of their arenas. 2. Sponsors are not necessarily local, Smederna's main sponsor is located in Malmö some 600km from Eskilstuna. 3. It varies from round to round and from track to track; http://ta.svemo.se/Public/Pages/Serie/Audience/AudienceStatistics.aspx?SerieId=590 4. Tracks does not go bust, clubs do. -

Watt should not have been brought in in the first place, what is the point of replacing an injured rider with another injured rider? As for heat 12, Smederna did not have any choice since a rider only can be replaced once. All riders need to ride in at least 3 of their 4 scheduled heats. 6p from Kenni is not good enough however we lost the meeting because Michelsen got injured yesterday. Apperently this is not the case and then it is very weird the Watt got a third heat, the same goes for heat 13 where Oliver should have been replaced. Two errors from Jimmy Jansson and Stefan Jarl , quite possible that it decided the outcome. Smederna could probably have won if they had used the reserves in those heats. Roughly, how many riders does this apply to? -
If Stockholm GP was in the summer it would be a great trip but the last weekend in September means much colder weather and usually poorer weather, it does not do the city justice IMO.

Swedish Elitserien 2014, Round 7&10
Ghostwalker replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
No Michelsen tomorrow so I can't see how Smederna are going to win this. -
The Swedish squad have been announced; 1. Andreas Jonsson 2. Oliver Berntzon 3. Thomas H Jonasson 4. Peter Ljung 5. Kim Nilsson (reserve) http://www.speedwaynyheter.se/speedway/berntzon-skrallen-i-truppen-till-lag-vm/ I disagree with the inclusion of Ljung. It might be his home track but there are other riders who have performed much better then him and IMO the 4th rider should have been Jonas Davidsson, Antonio Lindbäck or Kim Nilsson. Imo Ljung was only picked because Västervik is his home track in Elitserien. http://www.speedwaynyheter.se/speedway/berntzon-skrallen-i-truppen-till-lag-vm/

This weeks round features two meetings that belongs to two previous rounds (7 & 10). The televised meeting is the meeting between Ikaros Smederna and Piraterna at Smederna's track Smestadion. The meeting will be shown live on British Eurosport 1 at 18.00 BST/19.00 CEST. German Eurosport have it starting at 20.00 CEST while Dutch Eurosport will show it live from 19.00 CEST. race card for the televised meeting: https://www.mediafire.com/?1fe68dy2548em8m Ikaros Smederna – Piraterna Ikaros Smederna (41) Peter Karlsson Oliver Berntzon Pawel Przedpelski Mikkel Michelsen Davey Watt. Kenni Larsen Grzegorz Zengota Magnus Zetterström Piraterna (49) Bjarne Pedersen Matej Zagar Darcy Ward Linus Sundström Greg Hancock (K) Simon Gustafsson Fredrik Engman I expect this to be a tight meeting, Piraterna have a stronger team on paper but they have not permed that well this year. Chris Holder is still injured and Piraterna have decided to bring in Matej Zagar as a replacement until Holder is back. Smederna have decided not to put Davey Watt in the team (a signing I don't understand the purpose of) and decides to use the same riders as last week although Zetterström and Oliver "Vispen" Berntzon are the only two at Smederna who rides at the same position. Imo Piraterna are favourite to win this with Zagar riding instead of Schelin but I hope Kenni's, PK's and Zengi's loss of form two weeks ago was just temporary. Smederna (and Piraterna) need to win to move further up into safe grounds to avoid being involved in the fight to avoid relegation and to get a firmer grip on a place in the play offs. Smederna needs to win with 9p to get the aggregated bonus point. Västervik – Elit Vetlanda Västervik Krzysztof Kasprzak Tomasz Jedrzejak Przemyslaw Pawlicki Hans Andersen Peter Ljung (K) Mathias Thörnblom Ludvig Lindgren Elit Vetlanda Tai Woffinden Bartosz Zmarzlik Jaroslaw Hampel Tomas H Jonasson Emil Sayfutdinov Magnus Karlsson Jacob Thorssell Västervik have been mediocre all season except at their home meeting against Vargarna which Västervik won. Västervik looked like they were heading towards 3p last week but they collapsed in the final heats of the meeting and their opponents Dackarna could steal 1+1p. Vetlanda on the other hand have been unstoppable for the majority of the season. This week Janusz Kolodziej have asked to not be picked so Bartosz Zmarzlik is back in the lineup and need to show that he wish to remain there over Kolodziej. Like last week Västervik is in a do or die situation so they need to win but since this is part of round 7, there is no aggregated bonus to win from this meeting.

I don't know, I'm very sceptical about but it seems that the clubs have taken an initial decision regarding it. http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=67537&page=47&do=findComment&comment=2451626 Personally I don't think this will work out since I don't think the clubs realize the amount of work and money that are needed and also I doubt the teams will be able to agree on important part of the rules like average cap and etc. Also I they would not be allowed to become a member federation of Riksidrottsförbundet which requires their member federations to have a certain amount of member clubs which in their turn need a certain amount of licensed athletes, which Swedish speedway/track racing is well below. I also don't the final matter regarding it have been said and there have not been any more information released from the clubs' organizations.
