  1. Just two weeks after spruking to Rod Colquhoun, Leigh Adams, Jason Lyons, Bryn, Sir Lunchy, Poona, the service station attendant at Wogga and anyone else who would listen about how good it would be if next year we had a round of the Australian Titles at Bibra Lake, the powers that be do this. NOT FAIR After being very impressed with what i saw at Gosford and super impressed with how they run things in Mildura i was in no doubt though Bibra Lake could have matched them, obviously the only problem being logistics an dates, everyone sounded keen even the gas man. The question is where does that leave speedway in W.A. now? A couple of options. These are my thoughts 1) Kwinana - not very spectator friendly as the speedway track has been placed on the inside of the main track (which is purpose built for Sprintcars) and aussiegal is right about insurances, prize money etc... a solution but not a viable one. 2) Bunbury - 2 an a half to 3 hours drive from Perth, i have seen some of the best racing ever here during the Tapp series. i know Dave Chesire went down a couple of weeks back there and is keen to get a couple of meetings for next season.... it's a maybe if no other option. 3) A new track - Chesh has had talks with a North of the river Junior MX club, to test the waters on the probability of building a new track in this area. He has had a positive response from the club, however it will be up to the local Shire, Government funding (which with Bibra going, maybe a blessing for Chesh) Glyn Taylor had the same idea for the same area about twelve years ago and it got knocked on the head.... a long shot and i wouldn't hold my breath. This is terrible news for speedway fans and the young up and comers from W.A. the likes of Tai Woffinden, Daniel Harding, Bob King and others. This Sunday there is a training school at Bibra Lake with Johno and Chesh starting about 9.30, it would be sad that what they learn from the school they can't put into practice after March 20 or to think there are some superstars out who will be lost to speedway forever because there is no facilities. I think Johno might do a few laps on Sunday for the last time at Bibra, i'll be there and i might even wear my Orange shirt (whaddya reckon Lunchy). It will be worth going down just to see Johno do a few laps, because i know from now on we are going to be starved of proper SPEEDWAY.
  2. Thanks for the report Lunchy. I hope you all had a good time, did Rory use the "I would like to thank my Mum and Dad" speech he learnt of Johno at Mildura. Who is Robert Ksiezak? and any more info on what happened to Troy Batchelor? Btw Bryn i hope you have enjoyed your stay down under it was nice to meet you and hopefully i catch up with you in June, stay safe and have an enjoyable trip home mate.
  3. ONYA SAMMY!cya Saturday champ (got a cold Bundy for you Marty)
  4. I'm havin a hoot i'll bring you all up to date when i get back to Perth. Mildura is brilliant, staying at the Books (earlier posts) but last night stayed on Pooles new signing JL's (where were ya Addy) houseboat, what a hoot! Anyway it was great to see Lunchy, Poona and after a 12 hour drive from Goosford to Sydney it was fantastic to see young Sammy Martin win the Aussie Pairs (U/16s) and to finally meet Marty. I have drop this down a coupla lines for the benifet of the people who don't know Bryn and i bet there's not many. To me Bryn is the esscence of speedway, a man who all the riders respect, a man who's knowledge about speedway surpasses anybodys that i have known - bar none and a fellow who will listen to the most simplest of people (no - one really knows whats happening anyway) who ask a question on whats happening. Thanks Pal To all the people i have met before and on this trip, be it Leighs immediate family, Lyonsy and the crew, Rodney Colquorn, Warren Levy and the girls, everyone has been top drawer. Cheers and thanks. People like us make the world go around.
  5. The rain looks to be gone We have been to the track and it looks sensational, practice at 12.30. So get your backside trackside.
  6. We all love what DT did for Oz speedway. But its pissin it in Gosford feel sorry for Terry Poole.
  7. lol there might be a scottish ref there though! Splatty if you can find such a thing as a Scottish referee fit to referee any match you'll be lucky! (I've just come from a match where a player with a bad injury was refused treatment and forced by the referee to crawl approx 15 yards to the touchline whilst he held up the game to watch him do it and I am not happy!) Eddie Lennie comes from Scotland and reffed a match at the World Cup in Korea. Mind you he now lives in West Oz and has became normalised - oops naturalised.
  8. No need for a smoking / non smoking area when bignbeefy is around, he is obviously an ex-tractor fan. I hope they don't run out of grog at Gosford or Mildura.
  9. Looking forward to watch Sam race Marty as he has my old number 66 (not Speedway). Also i have found out that the Mildura Trots are on Thursday 22nd. A Horse meeting and a Speedway meeting 2 days of each other = bliss
  10. Yep i'm going to the next two rounds, fly out tomorrow at 6.00am, can't wait as these will be my first holidays since October 2002 - Oz G.P. I look forward to seeing as many forum members as possible, however it may have to wait until the racing is over, as i'll probably be in the pits all night undr the KTM banner. Lets hope Johno has a reversal of form or it will be a long trip to Mildura
  11. I am all for it, however i'm under strict rules 'NO DRINKING TILL THE BIKES AND GEAR IS PACKED'
  12. Johno, his ol man and big Dan from Warrington left in the early hours of this morning from Perth for the long haul over the Nullabore and up to the Gold Coast - some 4000km's for the 1st round. I won't be going to this round but will be at Gosford and Mildura and for one cannot wait. Anyone else apart from the obvious going along to these rounds? Would love to catch up and have a brew or two.
  13. Congratulations to Marty and his team of helpers, glad to hear everything worked out well. It's good to see people willing to still promote the sport that we all love. Thanks for the report Bryn, look forward to catching up with you and Lunchy at Gosford - i'll be the one with a KTM shirt forgetting to fuel Johnno's bike up.
  14. Apart from Stats and myself did any other forum members go? What about you Timbo?
  15. That you were easily excited at seeing people in Orange & Black kevlars.
  16. A great night had by all, Johno looked great in his new KTM Orange and Black kevlars , young Trev Harding looks like he's got a big future and old Chesh was fantastic. Glenn and Nathan O'Brien (GOB NOB racing) are going to be hard to beat come the Aussie titles in February.
  17. I was under the misapprehension that you were one of the best "old trout anglers' that had graced the river banks. I say, a cup of tea and a chat sounds rather splendid, what.
  18. Lunchy, go for the Quartet and add Lee Blackman aswell Really looking forward to this meeting, Johno has got his new colours which he will be displaying at the Oz titles aswell due to a couple new sponsers - looks sharp By the way Lunchy i have my flights booked for next year and will be arriving in Sydney on the 15th Jan, so i'm all set to go fishing with ya.
  19. Timbo, as far as i know Johno, Davey Cheshire,Trevor Harding, Corey and Lee Blackman, Kri Keast for sure and i guess that Shannon Wearne, Jay Ketteringham, Gavin Lewis, Keith McKinlay and others will also be racing in what looks to be one of the best solo line up we have had at Bibra Lake for years. On top of that there is also the Sidecars with at least 5 interstate outfits coming over to race against the Flyin O'Briens, Paul Pinfold, Tony Shields, Mick Sita and others - getting in practice for the Aust. titles at Bibra in Feb. All going well it should be nothing short of spectacular and i can not wait.
  20. That will learn me. Sorry Ryan looks like i gave you the kiss of death.
  21. Have a good time Marty and anyone else who's going. Look out for Johnno he is in fine form - if you know what i mean
  22. I think its dissapointing, but understandable. He's had a tough year, i just wonder if he had of become World Champ would he have rode or not :?:
