Now now,.. If I'm wrong on something factual I don't mind being corrected I'd got it in my head Adam was a year older than me, not a year younger for some reason. Which can't be correct in all honesty, speedway riders, nor indeed sports stars in general can't be younger than me.. after all, when I grow up I will be one.
-
I thought about it, but I'd made a boo boo so no time to be clever!
-
Four-- ish
-
Greg Hancock is four years older than Skornicki. It's abundantly clear you haven't the slightest clue about Skornicki, his past efforts for Wolves nor the form he was in when he last rode in this country. Folk have tried to help you out and explain things but you've continued to dig a deeper hole, who knows for what reason. Not only that but you seem insistent on not reading the thread. Skornicki's average is 7.22, that has been clarified several times. That equates to effectively an EL average of just over 5. If you don't think he is capable of at LEAST matching that in this watered down product then your speedway knowledge is severely lacking. His listed team was hardly inspiring anyway. Manzares over Skornicki? Be serious. I'm perfectly happy with Thorssell over Harris. The only rider that has slipped the net is Klindt, that's been covered. Aside from that question marks over Howarth on his average, BUT if he can maintain the form he showed towards the end of last season he'll do ok.
-
Again agreed.. but past history has shown.. assets being used on good averages hasn't come into the thinking often.. whereas those on bad averages, that's another story! Not mentioning anyone Stevebrum may have mentioned earlier Anyhow.. we have another rider on a bargain average now in Skornicki.. let's hope they don't let him slip through the net too.
-
Agree with all of this, I'm just pointing out, the promoters will generally 'spin' things when they speak to the fans.. they're hardly going to come out and say we had no interest in Klindt when many had pointed out what a bargain he was.
-
Hardly surprising. I wonder how much effort was actually made with Klindt. Aren't clubs meant to obtain permission to discuss terms with an asset of another club, or did that rule change?
-
He's a nice man.
-
So despite not being race sharp, barely ridden for 2 years, on borrowed machinery he still did as well as Howarth in the Olympique and better than Tungate... and better than Wozniak and Ellis at Poole. That's any questions answered regarding his ability to fulfil the role he would be needed for.
-
I'm struggling to see what significance 2004 has to do with anything? Should we not sign Lindgren as a No 1 as he was a reserve in 2004?
-
I think you might need to do a little more research. He last rode in the UK in 2014, he was No 1 for Birmingham. Skornicki has been rock steady his entire career for Wolves with very little deviation in average, usually alternating between second string and 3rd heat leader in MUCH stronger leagues. Absolutely nothing like a 'strong reserve'. Now he would be effectively on an average just over 5.00 in a far weaker league and spend most likely the entire year as a second string.
-
So you keep saying regarding Skornicki but have given absolutely nothing to back this up other than your ridiculous assertion he is '15 years past his best'. He would effectively be coming in on an average of just over 5 and would be riding as a second string all year long most likely. Not only that but the calming influence he brings to the team is a perfect replacement for PK.
-
Nope, that was 2013. Adam crashed whilst riding at No 1 for Birmingham against Kings Lynn. He'd scored 3 2 3 before his crash.
-
This sort of nonsense does make me chuckle. He was riding at No 1 in 2014 for Birmingham the last time he rode here.
-
It's not as watered down as the rides Howarth was having for most of last season though... Got to agree with Steve.. if that's the end product then we have messed it up!
-
Exactly this. With PK now stepping aside, we need a rider like Adam in the team to be that calming influence. Can he still do the job? He'd be a second string all year long in a much watered down league. I don't see any problems at all with him performing that role... and when/if playoffs come along, we know he'll step it up.
-
Thanks to mb1990 and Stevebrum for bringing the news!
-
Paul Starke would do a job.
-
I doubt it.. most of the happy clappers are delighted because Howarth is back.. he's a nice lad you see. Then they wonder why Poole are up near the top year after year.. and Wolves every eight years or so.
-
It wouldn't be the first time though would it?
-
Lindgren Thorsell Masters Harris Klindt Clegg 2.00 I think it fits and would seriously take some beating.
-
You've almost hit the nail on the head here. The construction company may be to blame for the stadium not being ready on time but it is the promoters who are to blame with attempting to run the opening meeting when they did. An absolutely ludicrous decision, especially given the fact it's almost a certainty they would have already spent the proceeds of the ticket sales from the event.. Many people said the venture (under this promotion) was dead from that day on and have been proved correct.
-
Grand Prix riders aren't the issue. Doubling up riders are.
-
If they haven't solved doubling up, which it appears they haven't then its all pretty pointless. The BIGGEST peeve people have is when riders are missing because they are racing elsewhere. With Somerset and Rye House, both weekend tracks, coming into the top league, this problem may well be worse than ever.
