For special occasions he would remove his helmet on the home straight of the victory lap (or in this case usually a second victory lap)

Speaking to PK after the meeting he was non-committal over riding in Sweden next year.. he will see over the winter, but I get the impression that he won't.

Don't be daft. Of course it wasn't done tongue in cheek. Those were the thoughts of the Belle Vue promotion, as we heard when Gordon took the mic at the end of the meeting... not that there were many Belle Vue fans left at the end. Just to add, I didn't have a problem with it personally, it simply added to the occasion. -
In a week filled with utter joy for Wolves fans as we clinched the Elite League crown it is tinged with sadness as first PK retired and now Mikael. It should not be forgotten just what a great rider for Wolves Mikael was, right from his debut in 1993 at Dudley Wood. He was inspirational in the double winning season of 1996 and who can forget his match winning ride at Eastbourne in the 2002 play off final. As Joe Beevers says, when he first came onto the scene he looked a World Champion in the making. I remember seeing him as a 16 year old in the Swedish League on Screensport and he was brilliant. He was slowly making his way towards the top of the sport, reaching World No 5 before suffering a nasty crash in Australia which really knocked him back. He returned, but wasn't quite the same as before.. eventually a serious thigh injury curtailed his career in England. Both brothers have provided myself and other Wolves fans with countless memories over the years and I wish them all the best in their retirement. Wolves Legends.

Yep, folk are still talking about one of the best meetings they've attended in years. You're right, we don't want that.. it's booooorrring. -

Fair enough, as said, can't see that part on the TV coverage. All adds to the fun though! -

Lmao.. the old 'newcomers' line. I'll tell you exactly what 'newcomers' would think... what on earth is the other team moaning about! The announcer was inciting from the moment the teams were introduced. Where was this 'birdie' given after his first ride? I didn't notice it on the night and on the tv coverage he simply rides down the home straight with a slight wave... it cuts off before he reaches the pits but I'd expect to hear some noise from the fans if he did that and there is nothing... The last shot you can see, as the scores disappear from the screen Tai is just beginning to walk off track.. and everyone is sat quietly in the stands... surely if he's just given them the birdie they'd be on their feet shouting? So, as said, interested to know when this birdie took place? -

Based on incorrect information. If what you give as your reasons had credence he would have had a hostile reception at Kings Lynn and at Poole. He didn't, no more than any other Wolves rider anyway. Belle Vue incited their fans for the reaction with their childish complaining pre meeting, followed up by their extremely childish behaviour during the meeting with their announcer playing the violin throughout the entire meeting. Throw in a deliberate alteration of his average in the program to try and make it look like Wolves were cheating and fuel the fire further. Many of them were dumb enough to believe it too. We've all heard promoters whinge on the mic from time to time, but never have I heard 2 hours of constant whinging from a centre green announcer. It did add to the joy of winning though. -

You're right, I hate to see anyone celebrating that way. Even worse when riders do it. Just win the race and ride back to the pits please. As for fans, don't get me started on those. Every time Wolves won a race my fellow Wolves fans were jumping up and down punching the air, likewise with Belle Vue. Can't you just watch the race and fill your program in? That said, Peter Adams is great tv. -

There wasn't anything to agree with, he was wrong, period. All Woffinden did was turn up to race and was greeted with hostility. GRW is in the false belief that Woffinden instigated the situation, which is wrong. -

You started well, then made a ridiculous comment at the end. Woffinden simply turned up to race and the Belle Vue fans, incited by their promotion, set upon him. As many, many riders have done over the years, he gave them stick back when he won. All part of a brilliant meeting. Regarding Woffinden's later comments.. again, where is the problem? Is it going to stop someone from attending a meeting? Seriously? Next year if Woffinden comes to ride at Belle Vue again at Wolves are folk going to think... "I'm not going he called us scum"... or are you going to be thinking "I can't wait for tonight to beat that ........" I think the majority would be the latter... and that's great for the sport. -

BWitcher replied to Col's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Completely incorrect. He didn't mention any booing until Chris Louis brought it up and questioned him directly about it. I don't think you will find any Wolves fan expecting him to go through the card. At that track, if you have the right setup, almost any rider can beat another. Its far more engine orientated than skill. That's not a criticism, it provides fantastic entertainment. When the chips were down, Woffinden clinched the title so any battle was won by him. There really is nothing to defend on either side here (bar unsavoury personal insults). Belle Vue game him some stick, Woffy answered back. It made for a brilliant atmosphere. Woffinden fired of some comments on Social Media, so what? Just makes it all the better for if and when he races there next. As said earlier in the thread.. something that is GREAT for the sport and fans just moan. -

And Nicki would also give it back to Wolves fans as well after race wins. It's amusing me how Belle Vue fans think they 'got to Tai'. Giving themselves too much credit there I think. If anything as you mention here with Nicki, they simply helped to fire up the whole Wolves team even more. -

Quite correct, the Aces fans on here have been gracious, especially given the absence of the banned one. The Aces fan page on facebook is quite hilarious though.. particularly their accusations regarding Jacob Thorssel. That said, all clubs have their section of nutters I suppose! -

I thought your tac ride post was bad enough.. So you're claiming that in a football match, a player who a team has been giving stick to in a pitch scores, they've never done anything in front of the opposing fans? It's happened many times! All you are showing here is you like to give it out, but you can't take a bit of fun back. Someone mentioned Nicki Pedersen earlier and you would never see him reacting... absolute rubbish.. he's wound up the Wolves fans many times after winning races, You would never have coped with a Wolves/Cradley meeting either. -

Hope you enjoyed the meeting last night Ouch. A friend of mine couldn't make it because of his daughter's 18th and he was gutted. Terrible to have missed such an amazing meeting. Imagine not being able to attend such a big event. -
That's my next trip to England for speedway purposes booked!

This is a common mistake people make.. and sometimes Pearson and Tatum don't help. It makes NO difference what the partner does to the success of a tac. 6-3 and a 5-1, no different to a 3-3 and 8-1.
