  1. 21CH, Thankyou for a very concise accurate summing up of the whole incident. Its pretty much what I have been trying to explain also. Unfortunately its apparent that most people are looking at the one piece of footage, which is the final moment of the crash from the head on angle, which does not show the full story. If a rider was on the inside and changed lines by such an amount and ended up out near the fence where there was a collision with a rider, there would be a massive outcry.. Incidentally, I too have nothing against Stefan, in fact we get on very well.
  2. Not really valid when the rider behind you is 5 metres to your right on the outside of the bend. Too much emphasis is being placed on the 'looking back'. Of course he is going to look to see where Nielsen is. What I am sure he didn't expect is for Nielsen to have appeared so close, cutting across his line. Its simple when one rider is going straight, the other is going to the right, there is going to be a collision. In real time, Roynon would barely have even had chance to process what he saw on his 'look' before the collision happened.
  3. Correct, not an excludable offence though is it? The point I am trying to make is, there is absolutely nothing Roynon could have done to avoid that crash. His natural line is to drift out of the corner, Stefans natural line having cutback was to be going much straighter. Having made that cutback Stefan couldn't go anywhere else as there was a rider to his outside. Roynon couldn't go anywhere else he was just riding his natural line on the inside. The only way Roynon could perhaps have even tried to avoid it was to try to turn very sharply, at that point of the bend it would have caused him to lock up/lose control, both of which cause the back wheel to go out further (especially given track conditions). Simply a racing incident. The rules of the sport dictate one rider has to be excluded, this time it was Adam. It could just as easily have gone the other way and Stefan would have a right to feel aggrieved. Is there an argument for a rule change to allow the referees the option of ordering a re-run and not exluding a rider if they deem neither was at fault? Or would that perhaps just give them an easy way out and cause even more problems?
  4. No it isn't. Agree nothing will change, but then why have a forum if things can't be discussed?
  5. This is the pertinent point here. Again I repeat what people are completely ignoring in all this, Nielsen makes a DRAMATIC change in line, he is next to the fence halfway round the corner, 1/4 of the bend later he is on the inside. People are claiming that Roynon tried to shut the door on Nielsen, the reality is quite the opposite, Nielsen changes line by the COMPLETE WIDTH OF THE BEND to try to close the door on Roynon. To do so that involves straightening up big time which means he is cutting across Roynon and cutting across the natural line of the bend. Had a rider on the inside moved out from the inside to the very outside of the bend in such dramatic fashion and collided with someone there would be an uproar. The reason the crash happened is Roynon looked and was no doubt highly surprised to see Nielsen coming across him at such an angle. The frontal tv shot doesn't show you enough footage to show Nielsen coming from out by the fence to swing across Roynon. There was absolutely no way Roynon could avoid what happened there. He hadn't changed his line, you don't hug the kerb coming onto the straight when you have rode the inside, especially at a fast track like Kings Lynn, you will always drift out of the corner. Roynon simply had nowhere to go and a collission was inevitable. All this constant talk of Roynon 'flicking' his back wheel at Nielsen.. that came about after the contact between them and as I say was inevitable when one rider is going one way, (moving to the right) and the other is going the other (moving to the left). Racing incident. Are you denying facts? You are simply looking at the last 0.1 seconds of the incident, events start a lot earlier than that. Watch the footage from the reverse and pause it halfway round the bend and see where Nielsen is. Then ask yourself just how he managed to end up tight to the inside 1/4 of the bend later. Now, you normally post very well HT, but please explain how Nielsen can run out of room when he has opted to move 10 yards to his left and Roynon is still right on the inside? In summary, before everyone jumps on this, I'm not saying Nielsen should have been excluded. Simply saying that a crash was inevitable in that situation as two riders were going in different directions. Complete and utter racing incident and its a shame that the rules of the sport dictate that one has to go. Certainly not black and white as some are portraying.
  6. Up until this GP was firmly supporting Holder, however the actions of his 'team mate/sponsor mate' leave a sour taste and I hope Nicki takes the crown now
  7. You see, THAT is how the sport should be. No nationalities helping each other out there. Fair play to the Danes, well done to MJJ.
  8. Why is Hewen obsessed with scoring something for coming last in the final? They have scored more, by gaining extra pts in the semi....
  9. It may be silly, but I feel less comfortable with 'teams/sponsors' giving pts to their members than riders of a nationality helping each other out. Same thing I guess..
  10. Of course its happened before.. but it should never be advocated.
  11. Oh dear. 'Team Racing' has entered the GP. Lindback BLATANTLY letting Monster team mate Chris Holder by of the last corner for the pt.
  12. Yet many still insist all is well, pay no attention to the cries for change and advocate continuing along the current path the sport is taking (both EL and PL level).
  13. Ah the old Nicki is going to seriously injure someone line.. its only been said for about 15 years now. Of course you saw it a mile off, you're watching on tv and can see both riders. Nicki however isn't watching tv, he's racing a bike and knows the threat will come from the outside and he has to ensure that there is no way through there. AJ, if he hadn't have lost the plot because of his failure to score a pt in his first race and about to fail to score again (on his home track), would also have realised this and tried to switch back under Nicki. So many people keep saying Nicki 'fenced' AJ. Totally and utterly incorrect. a: They weren't even at the fence at the point of contact b: AJ actually went into the back of Nicki. They know when a rider is close, by the noise, but are often caught unawares by a change of line by the rider behind. Nicki will have anticipated AJ was trying the outside run and like ANY rider in that situation would have moved out to block it off the corner. If AJ had drawn alongside Nicki and Nicki had then continued to take him into the fence.. fair enough. He didn't.. he ran into the back of him.
  14. Yet have a full scale brawl you get 5 mins penalty.. I do agree riders should be fined if they are abusive to the referee though, even though its fun to watch Nicki get worked up.
  15. No George M. You have constructed an argument throughout the entire thread, when shown the ridiculousness of your argument you resort to the old trick of "I was speaking in jest". Which basically means, I've been made to look an idiot here. I fully understand my posts, it's quite clear that you don't fully understand yours or you wouldn't have wasted your time arguing a case and then claiming that you didn't mean to. As for replying to "If you or George M think otherwise"... you've dropped yourself in it.. as you've just admitted above its what you said.. although of course now you claim it was in jest. Why don't we just clarify the situation completely George. Do you think riders care more about being World Champion or being respected by fans?
  16. Maybe because I was replying to Foreverblue eh? No doubt they do, also no doubt that most aspire to be at the level that Nicki is at. Your very own (Poole) Chris Holder is no angel either and gives as good as he gets. Its a tough sport.
  17. How do you know he hadn't enquired? How do you know he hadn't been told AJ was ok? How do you know what respect the other riders have for him, have you personally spoken to them all, or are you just assuming? Again, what relevance is the whole of Cardiff (and its not the whole of Cardiff, another exaggeration) boos him? Most of it is pantomine booing, its part of the sport. He's not the first and he won't be the last rider to be 'booed'. Speedway isn't a popularity contest, you don't get extra points for the loudest cheer. All Nicki cares about and all any of the riders in the GP care about is winning races. Folk moan there aren't any characters in the sport these days and the sport is poorer as a consequence.. thank god for Nicki then. Like him or loathe him, he creates talking points.
  18. You're the one who questioned it, so there's no 'amazement'. Avtar stated that you'd (not sure he actually meant 'you', but more speaking in general) rather be one of the greatest, with a few haters as opposed to the being thought of as the best rider to never win the WC with no haters. You questioned it by saying "Would I? You learn something everyday".
  19. I can categorically state that when a speedway rider arrives to take part in a GP he has no thoughts whatsoever about how much 'respect' any fan or fans has for him. His only interest is in winning and becoming World Champion. If you or George M think otherwise, you're completely and utterly deluded. If respect from the fans comes with it, all well and good. If not, quite frankly I highly doubt many riders care. As for your comment of having no respect for Nicki Pedersen, thats sad. I have respect for each and every rider that races a speedway bike.
  20. Exactly as happened with myself. I am not a Nicki fan and have criticised him massively in the past. Live, I shouted at the TV, "Dirty Pedersen" or words to that effect. However, watching the replay it was obvious to anyone without a "nicki is the anti-christ" bias that Nicki did nothing wrong. He is front, clearly, and can choose his line. Try watching the final when Holder tries to come around Gollob off turn 4 early in the race, Gollob shoots straight across to block the run as ALL riders do. Holder knew there wasn't going to be a gap and throttled off a tad and looked for another line of attack. AJ didn't. He foolishly kept on going for a gap that was rapidly closing. AJ had the choice to back off, he went for it, he paid the price. It was foolish move from AJ, not only because the gap was never going to be there, but also he should KNOW that Nicki is not going to leave a gap. As another poster said, AJ was getting desperate, he'd failed to score in his first race and was about to fail to score again. His head went and he tried something dumb.
  21. Anyway, its all part of the fun and games of sport, differing opinions.
  22. Because the other riders had to shut off as Hancock closed the door. As many other rider have done so throughout the history of speedway. You've almost answered the question there though, AJ came down because he didn't shut off, he decided to contine to go for a gap that was not ever going to be there. His own error. A rider in contention for the World Championship is not going to let someone by him on the outside of the final turn. Briggs, Mauger, Nielsen, Ermolenko, Hanock, Gollob, Crump... you name a World Champion, they would have shut the door. End of.
  23. Ah Holder, a rider who has done just that and worse many times this season. The fact is, folk are up in arms for one reason. It was Nicki Pedersen. Had that been Greg Hancock, who has this season pulled the same move himself, not a lot would have been said.
