  1. Suggesting banning all Aussies is silly. What have riders like Fricke, Masters and Grajczonek ever done to be banned. By all means consider the terms on which Australians are first offered contracts and the appropriate assessed averages but banning those who currently ride here cannot be fair or justified. Holder should be allowed back after his ban and if he does the same again the authorities will no doubt impose a stiffer penalty.
  2. I sort of see both sides of the coin. During the dog track years I did sometimes use to wonder why I was still attending every match because the quality of racing was far removed from the Hyde Road days but obviously and despite the poor teams we often had, there was still enough enjoyment to keep me going. However, since the move to the NSS and despite the best efforts of the BSPA to destroy the credibility of the sport by their often ridiculous decisions and inconsistent interpretation of the rules my enthusiasm for the sport is as strong as it ever was. The joy of watching close, exciting racing overcomes the politics and incompetence. It is a five hour return journey for me to get to Belle Vue but well worth the effort and the cost. I've said it before but the NSS has proved that given the right setting Speedway can be as thrilling as it ever was. If only somebody sensible could take control of the BSPA.
  3. That was a poor meeting but we'll done to Wolves you can only beat what's there. I do hope that the Swindon bubble hasn't burst, there's nothing worse than being the best over the season and topping the league and then losing form. I don't think they have. They will be ok if Bellego can rediscover his form, get Wilson-Dean back and someone at 7 who can pick up a few points.
  4. I'm more concerned about Bewley, without him we shall have the same problem at reserve that Swindon have suffered tonight.
  5. If you were there you would have seen that it was the normal excellent performance from Bjerre at the NSS, proved conclusively that his poor performances over the bank holiday were engine related.
  6. Perhaps you missed Bjerre's last match where on his Polish engine he scored a paid maximum and Smith's much improved form recently for both the Aces and Glasgow. You are right about Fricke, we need him to be match fit and Bewley would be a tremendous loss. Hopefully, another week of rest and recuperation will see him able to race.
  7. That probably is the simplest way to avoid doubling up problems but there are of course other issues that would arise, would clubs who have to change their race night get smaller crowds as a consequence and what about clubs in the CL now racing on those nights who don't want to join the PL. It may be a sensible move for many reasons but it is a sticking plaster for doubling up problems, not a solution. A solution needs to stop riders other than British youngsters, who can use it as a career stepping stone, from racing for more than one team. Fans can then again have that feeling that a rider belongs to their team and is as committed to that team just as much as they are. Importantly, doubling up on the present scale must also stop in order to create more team places for new British riders. In tandem we must also address the other issues raised by GRW123 especially to sort out the fixtures, increase the number of meetings, which helps riders who lose the double up option and start to treat fans as valued customers.
  8. I can't see Newman doing as well at the NSS as Dan but away it could depend where we race. Kyle might do better at at Poole. I'm just hoping that Dan is ok but only being able to complete less than a lap in Poland yesterday is concerning.
  9. A successful winning team with mainly local riders who have come up through the ranks, who are committed to the team and who, injuries apart, are always there, will bring in even bigger crowds.
  10. It would be a significant loss to us if Bewley hasn't recovered from his injury and there is no adequate replacement but Newman's average does fit.
  11. Fricke would have had his Polish bikes and he rides for Rybnik and Kurtz is his replacement there after he was injured so both had home track advantage. However, none of that explains why we couldn't compete with the Danes.
  12. Does anybody know how Dan Bewley is? It isn't clear if his first race stop was engine failure or a recurrence of his groin injury, as he didn't race again the latter looks more likely.
  13. Clubs who sign riders before the rules and the financial position is certain know there is an element of risk but are obviously prepared to take that risk in the hope of being a step ahead of the game.
  14. I was simply paraphrasing what Chapman said in this weeks Speedway Star, his words not mine " clubs should be able to have a guest for any missing riders that are on official duty elsewhere, or for whatever reason ". If you haven't already, have a read of this topic http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=85183 there are some comments there on his latest words of wisdom.
  15. No, you weren't disgraced because most of your team were clearly giving 100% and there was some decent races. MPT is the sort of battling rider I love to watch. It was particularly difficult for King's Lyn this time because Cook is now riding as well as he was at the beginning of the season, Tungate is truly dialled in at the NSS and has got his set up right and Jack Smith has started to score some points. Only going to get better when we have Bjerre and Fricke.
  16. I don't know where you get the idea that everyone is writing off Swindon. Currently, there is a poll on Twitter and at the moment 42% think Swindon will win, Wolves are next with 24%, Belle Vue 18% and Poole 17%. Swindon are my favourites for the title but unsurprisingly, I think the Aces can do it if we have our full 1-7 and Fricke regains his form straight away.
  17. The sport has to move forward, we can't afford another 2017. Proposed change should be tested by asking does it restore credibility and integrity, does it help or hinder restoring team building that will create teams fans can call their own and identity with for more than one season and does it enable a continuity of fixtures. Promoters must now give priority to what is good for the sport as a whole and not just what benefits them. I hope changes for the better can be made at Kings Lyn but the present promotion give no cause for optimism if the current idea to increase guests to cover any absence is an example. That is exactly what most of us don't want
  18. No Bjerre,Fricke or Bewley, Richie Worral was poor on his last visit and I can't remember Graversen ever riding at the NSS.Jorgensen and Auty usually do well so I think we will at least get some decent races.
  19. According to the KL website is r/r for Robert Lambert.
  20. The SS is excellent value for money, I'm amazed they can produce it even at the new increased price. I've been getting it since the mid 50's and still look forward to the post arriving on Thursdays. I've been keeping them and all my programmes since the early 60's, they keep my loft insulated so not only can you enjoy reading them but they can also save you money. I can see the add campaign now. Like others I find it astounding that in this weeks issue Chapman wants clubs to be able to have guests "for any missing riders that are on official duty elsewhere, or for whatever reason." Yet more evidence of how out of touch he is with what fans want.
  21. You did have Batchelor and Kurtz to replace Doyle and Morris but as you say you now have Musielak. More of concern is your current weakness at reserve but I can't see Wolves stopping your current excellent run of wins.
  22. I didn't expect that to be so easy. Jack Smith was superb and showed in the way he passed Robson in heat 2 and later beat Nicholls the potential he has, well done. Perks also rode well,a much different rider than during his spell with Wolves. Bjerre clearly showed his problems last weekend were down to his engine problems, Cook continued with his good form, Tungate again showed what a good signing he has been and Lasse Bjerre was a good replacement for Worrall. Rye House were lacklustre. Barker, Wells and particularly Nicholls have all performed better at the NSS, KK rode hard but didn't manage to win a race, Robson had his moments and Morley probably did as expected. Harris would have scored more than r/r but not many more with the form the Aces were in and not enough to gain any league points. The good news is that we're back. Add Fricke and Bewley and on this form we will give anyone a run for their money.
  23. Harris isn't that good at the NSS although he was better on his last appearance. You might do just as good or even better with r/r.
