  1. He has been by far the best this season, and it has been a joy to watch a more mature Nicki develop over the years. Well done on your 2nd World Championship
  2. £95 but I have been warned that this could well increase (by other forum members) so I will probably end up not staying there after all! I stayed at the Copthorne this year and yes it is a lovely hotel and they can provide transport to and from the stadium but we wanted to meet up with friends after the GP.....then had a hell of a job getting back to the hotel.
  3. Thanks for that, as a just in case, I have booked my room already.....wanted to get one nearer this time as it was horrendous getting back to my Cardiff outskirts hotel this year!
  4. 21st, Tobi has a very near 6 point average, albeit most of that scored at reserve. In the last fortnight at home since moving up into the main team (at number 4), he has scored 8+1 (against Coventry) and 9+3 (against Swindon), admitedly his away average is not so good and he had an especially bad night against Wolves on Monday. As I said before, very difficult one to choose, Smoli's form has been very good this season as has Tobi's, with maybe Smoli just edging it in league terms as he has been at number 4 for most the season while Tobi has not, while Tobi's qualification through to the GP qualifier final also having to count somewhere. Whoever is chosen, you can bet that fans of the rider not chosen will be saying...well xxxxx could have beaten xxxx in that heat.
  5. Not sure if you have noticed but Tobi has also been having a great season in the British leagues too......moving out of reserve into the main body of the team and increasing his average by almost 2 points. Personally I am undecided between Smoli and Tobi, both have done well this season and both deserve the wild card, maybe Tobi being in the qualifiers was the thing that finally decided it.
  6. Not as expensive as you may think Jacques, some sites have special deals for the hotel....I got an absolute stonker of a deal last time I stayed which made it cheaper than the holiday/travel/whatever inn just down the road.
  7. I stayed at the Brandon Hall Hotel which is a few minutes drive from the stadium...you can walk it but I think you would be knackered if you did! Some sites still have vacancies for the above hotel.
  8. Can I be different and refuse a piece of humble pie? I was one of the few that asked people to keep the faith in Chris when he was going through his rough patch at Coventry, and when he was announced as being in the GP's, yes I was initially slightly worried about how he would cope (for all of a few minutes) but then tempered that with my knowledge of how much of a battler he is.
  9. Well I took my camera but took the grand total of 4 pictures....and not very exciting ones at that!
  10. I love the Express write up.....it recaptured the atmosphere of Saturday best.
  11. For the first time we got a very strict bag checker.....our big bottle of coke was missed (he felt the bottom of the rucksack but the shape of it was missed by the huge Harry Potter hardback book!) but a little tiny bottle of fruit juice was found and my son had to drink it before we went in. We went in Gate 1
  12. Phew, finally back online. What a bloody amazing day! The atmosphere may have been flatter during the day but it certainly wasn't during the meeting, from the word go, Bomber,Scott and David gave us entertainment. I am another one who was virtually in tears when Bomber crossed the finish line although I had thought he could do it.....with a bit of luck and pure determination. I felt so proud to be British last night and even the soaking we received on the way to the Prince of Wales pub afterwards was nothing, we didn't care, a brit had won at Cardiff!! Bloody and (insert strong swear word which means fornication) brilliant!!!!!
  13. MacDonald Brothers.....enjoyed Brenda .....hmmm Ray Quinn.....Er god knows, took that chance to have my one and only ciggie of the GP Chas and Dave, well I was in the stadium, saw them start but then got lost in conversation. And that We love Speedway song....god how embarrassing!
  14. Good on yer Rabs, when it seemed like I was unable to go I kept telling myself I wasn't bothered but as the date became closer and the ads started on the telly, that was it, I just had to go again. Thankfully my parents came through once more and are having 2 of the boys and I have once again managed to say yes with 2 weeks to go!
  15. Debate no longer. It was the wrong decision. I still can't believe you're not going to Cardiff.....but of course there's still time to change your mind and get cheaper tickets on the day. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Come on Rabs.....you know you want to!
  16. Coventry Fairies will have pink cowboy hats on..... I will have a T shirt with my name on it..... Errrrr.....not sure about others.
  17. Oopps sorry, should we ask for permission to post next time? It was asked who was going, ergo people also assume that means they can post if they are not going. It also served a purpose for those of us who will not be able to attend due to finances, holidays etc as a way to receive updates via phone from other members.
  18. Truth be told Windsor....so am I! Just wait until the moany men come on this thread and start going on about us woman and only wanting riders for their bodies and not their skills on a speedway bike.
