When you're an off-duty version of Clouseau using an uncalibrated breathalyser from the pound shop it's always best to practise on a couple of others first!
-
So today's lesson seems to be that drinking and operating motorised vehicles can be viewed as less of an offence if you have a lot of likes on a naff facebook group. I shall remember this and will be opening a facebook support group the next time I get a parking fine or a speeding ticket. You may say this will never work, but remember a lot of magistrates are also senile old duffers, so they may well share this view.

Not many then really. Cheryl Cole writes "I luv my soldiers", or some such inane crap, on facebook and twitter and immediately gets about 4 million likes and twitter repeat thingies. All it proves is that even the most intellectually challenged of sheep-like kiddywinks can use an iphone.

There's one here too http://tinyurl.com/84g3k

So you're saying this off-duty policeman paid at the turnstiles, somehow evaded all security and wandered into the pits unofficially, and said to someone "I've got a breath-test machine which may or may not be properly calibrated, can I have a go at testing some people unofficially?" Doesn't seem likely. Would seem far more likely that he'd had an official invite to be there and do the testing.
-
Exactly. i wouldn't expect an on-duty police officer to be moonlighting at a speedway meeting when he's being paid by the taxpayer to be out and about upholding the law. But employing an off-duty police officer to do the tests seems perfectly sensible. Surely it's only the same as an off-duty doctor being paid to attend speedway meetings as the medical officer. You wouldn't expect an on-duty NHS doctor to be moonlighting at a speedway meeting while he's being paid to be at hospital treating the sick.

Hadn't bothered to check that the new poster is actually an old poster who keeps changing name. So this nonsense thread, which never sounded believable in the first place, is just the imagination of little Tommy who has posted this kind of nonsense before when pretending to be a businessman with a marketing business employing dozens of people. Turned out he was a kid working in a sweet shop in Poole. - Kind of the KKS of the gobstopper industry. -

But someone looking for further information about the club, (or god forbid, wanting to enquire about sponsorship opportunities) might see an email address like info@coventrybees.co and naturally assume that the bit is missing off the end. When they mistakenly correct the address to info@coventrybees.co.uk they will get no reply, and there's a potential supporter/sponsor lost. Show a .co email address to any group of random people and I guarantee more will believe that the end has been missed off than will believe that a professional sport buys its domains in Colombia. -

I believe it does take some time to join the Colombian version of twitter -

Let's hope no one takes up GoSpeed on this offer to sponsor the EL KOC. (assuming they ignore the spelling and terrible grammar mistakes). As for the Colombian websites, try telling anyone the address of any club website and they will say "Don't you mean .com or .co.uk I wonder how many emails clubs don't actually receive because people will not expect a British sport to have a Colombian connection and will automatically think they need to correct it to .co.uk -
Yes, he's Welsh. I think as a kid he had one leg shorter than the other due to some kind of childhood arthritis disease and had an operation to lengthen it.

Isn't Summers still a good fit for Coventry's last remaining team place?
-
Are you sure it has to be one or the other? Think he's multi-tasking as both. At least he's drawing attention to the topic and everyone can see how Muddlo has made a fool of himself in print yet again.
-
You're making absolutely no sense. (and to be honest, making yourself look a bit of a prat)
-
Since you have quoted every word of my post can we assume that you live the most boring life of all? Also from your pathetic non-attempt at a reply can we assume that you realise Middleditch has made a bit of a fool of himself again?
-
I see Muddlo is making himself look a pillock in the Speedway Star again defending his love child Darcy. He says Ward "has been punished enough already".... Not sure if this means that Muddlo thinks next weeks hearing shouldn't go ahead at all, or whether he means they should just let him off. Either way he's a clown. "Middleditch is quick to point out that Ward made no attempt to gain an advantage by drinking"... What the hell is that supposed to mean??? No one's suggesting he tried to get an advantage. Quite the opposite. Drink impairs abilities. Drinking and racing puts lives at risk. Can't Muddlo see that? "I think he's been punished enough" "If they give him a year retrospectively that goes into August and that's the season gone as well". So Muddlo can count, but what's his point? That's how a ban works. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.. "I don't know the readings on the machine and I don't know the severity of what he did"..... Yet you've said he's been punished enough....based on not knowing the facts? How stupid. Basically Muddlo is saying "I just want my boy to get off with it regardless" "it wasn't drugs and it wasn't performance enhancing. If anything it would be debilitating to his performance" .... Oh that's ok then. Let's send people out to race bikes with no brakes at 70mph whilst not completely in control of their senses...Who cares if he kills someone eh Muddlo? "They could whack a big hefty ban on him, or they could give him 6 months and he'll be riding at the start of the season, which is what everyone wants" .......So Muddlo now speaks for everyone? I thought what the majority wanted was a punishment to fit the crime, and one that will act as a deterent to others? Apparently not, we all want a 6 month ban. Muddlo makes himself look a fool every time he opens his mouth

Stewart said “We plan to appeal as I personally feel that the punishment far outweighs the situation; especially since I received both WADA and USADA approvals that prove I’m not cheating. I’m bummed for everyone involved" That last bit of the punishment does seem a bit excessive!

You're talking nonsense. How could Scunthorpe possibly have tracked a stronger side? They couldn't. Whether they wanted to or not is irrelevant. As I said Buxton and Scunthorpe (and Devon) had woefully weak sides because the points limit was far too high. If you can't see that, it suggests to me that perhaps you don't know that much about the NL?
-
You were responding to my post about the points limit being too high last year leaving Buxton and Scunthorpe stuffed with uncompetitive teams. You can't come back and say "I never mentioned Buxton" just because it doesn't suit your argument.
-
Absolutely the case. Ask Jayne from Buxton. Both teams were shafted by too high a points limit. There was no one for them to sign right from the start. Scunthorpe were happy to accept that there was no one and to run with weak 3.00 point riders, but Buxton tried everything to get a stronger team. It wasn't a choice, it was simply that the points limit was way too high.
-
Scunthorpe were indeed too weak last year, but that was because the points limit was too high. The big payers took all the top riders leaving Scunny, Buxton, Devon trying to exist on the scraps. If the points limit had been set correctly, Scunny and Buxton would have had riders available to sign. There's no need for a minimum points limit, just a need to get the maximum limit right.
-
Points limit should never be as high as 42. 42 is the equilibrium figure for a league using the same riders every year. But the NDL is a development league. Top 9 pointers should be moving on up to PL and new 3.00 riders coming in. So the limit should be considerably below 42. NL was ruined last year by a points limit that was too high and allowed the money clubs to grab the best riders and leave the smaller clubs with very little. There should be no minimum limit. If a track with winter training can unearth 7 quality newcomers why shouldn't they be allowed to use them? Would be stupid to say you can't use your discoveries and have to replace a few with an old codger who has a big average just to meet the minimum.
