I could be wrong, but I don't think NL clubs can attain assets

Leicester Lions 2013
CardinalSin replied to Honey Monster's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Good post i agree i think it's great that someone directly involved keeps the fans regularly updated. I wish our promotion did the same. Very very nice looking side put together here and as long as Leicester avoid an injury hit season, a shoe in for a play off place. -
3 riders left out of the Witches side this year would make great signings for Plymouth in Dak North, Taylor Poole and Matt Tressarieu.
-
Yes i must admit if i supported Rye i would find that really annoying. Some good young talent to get behind though and hopefully see improve so it's not all doom and gloom.

Leicester Lions 2013

A few really good looking sides being announced already, but Leicester's is the pick for me so far. Very powerful top end. -
If that's the case if i were a Rye fan i'd be hoping he doesn't show! And if he doesn't, do you trust len to make the most of that near 8 points? Having seen his comments about not bothering to look at points limits when building his sides i'd be less than confident that he would.
-
But that is because the rest of the side was built poorly. I certainly don't expect us to be constantly on the wrong end of heat advantages at Foxhall in the heats not involving Ben Barker! We've already made what looks to be a shrewd signing in young Ellis at reserve who I expect to up a 3 point average. I also expect our other signing to date, Leigh Lanham, to also up his starting average now he won't be riding at number 1. Signing a high averaged number 1 doesn't mean a struggling team in general. It does if you put together a poor SEPTET like Plymouth have these last two years, but if you're shrewd with your remaining 6 riders then you'll have every chance of being very competitive. I think, in fact I'm certain, you're in a very tiny minority that wouldn't want Ben Barker leading their team at number 1 next year.
-
Maybe you should have signed more cowboys and less indians.
-
Isn't it just
-
Yes.
-
Very surprised to not see Stefan Nielsen in there! Looks a solid septet though.
-
I'm pretty sure the Witches reserves will be Heeps and Nielsen but we'll see.
-
Lanham could indeed be at Rye next year, but he may well be one of the 5 he has signed and not as the number 1 he is still looking for.
-
But the 5 riders he says he has nailed down haven't been named only guessed by those on here. There maybe a name or two in there that nobody has mentioned yet.
-
I would be absolutely staggered if that was the case and to be honest, would make very little sense.
-
Rumour has it that's the only way we will be able to use him but we will see i guess.

Kennett 10.42 Nelson 5.33 Poole 5.99 Bunyan 5.14 Mellgren 6.47 Nielsen 4.28 Garrity 4.79 Total 42.42 You'd be hard pushed to see a better team with more potential than that in the league.

Well done to the Diamonds on a thoroughly deserved victory. I've got to admit the falling crowds must be a concern to the promotion. Yes you can make all sorts of excuses about poor weather, but the fact is it was the Knockout cup final! Being a Saturday too, I was certainly expecting a better turn out than that. Concerning.
-
The problem is we have too many riders out of form and have done for a while. We're carrying 3 riders in particular in Nielsen, Poole and Tungate and I'm afraid that's too many. You can excuse Nielsen to a degree because the lad has been battered and bruised in recent weeks and maybe it's taken it's toll on him recently. But what about the other two? Is Poole still suffering with the arm he broke? Or is he simply badly out of form or more to the point, just hasn't got going after his long lay off? And as for Tungate, this lad has baffled me. How can you go from being so so good first half of the season, to really poor the second half? I'd loan him out next season personally.

Congratulations Mildenhall - National League Champions
CardinalSin replied to lucifer sam's topic in National League Speedway
I agree with that and I think it's terrific! You can't beat a good rivalry and these two certainly seem to have it. If they both remain in the NL, I'll bet both sets of fans will look for these fixtures first when they are released and will look forward to them with relish. To be totally honest, Dudley seem to me to be the sort to strike up a fierce rivalry with just about anybody and everybody and in any league!! -
Congratulations Mildenhall - National League Champions
CardinalSin replied to lucifer sam's topic in National League Speedway
Well done Mildenhall fantastic effort to win without having a "home" leg in the final! What an incredible season they have had. Last year winning the cup and runners up in the league by one point in the final, and this year winning just about everything! The promotion deserve huge credit and maybe a move up at some stage in the near future? -
Ipswich V Rye House Pct 18th October
CardinalSin replied to tocha's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Thats a pretty typical post from westhamboy66 where Ipswich are concerned. Take whatever he says on an Ipswich thread with a large pinch of salt. -
yes great isn't it I think this scenario is more likely in 2014 rather than next season though. Chris Louis has made no secret of his desire to take Ipswich back up, but he said only two weeks ago that he wants to do that as PL champions and also confirmed his interest in Nielsen and Tressarieu for next year. I would love to see Ipswich back in the top flight and Mildenhall back up to the PL as i would personally get the best of both worlds. I enjoy my trips to Mildy and with the current promotion in charge, i can see Mildenhall being very successful in the PL. NL has been well supported so i'd expect that to continue and some in the PL.
-
Sorry if it's a daft question, but can you be a promoter of two different clubs in the same league? I say this as Chris Louis is already making plans for Ipswich' assault in the PL next season. Maybe a little awkward if Mildenhall moved up to the PL as well? I have heard mutterings several times now that Chris Louis does indeed want to take Mildenhall back up to the PL, but when he feels Ipswich are ready to return to the EL and the "partnership" between the two will continue.
