  1. The important word in that sentence is 'gave'.........meaning in the past. I used to really enjoy matches at Coventry when there was a group of us and Speedway was just an interruption to the fun we had so I didn't really notice how many track grades there were, but it's not the same at Leicester with just the dog for company who spends the evening asleep.
  2. I am not so sure that's a good idea. What if the air fence got damaged and held up the main match half way through? Like you say the meeting needs to flow but the league match is what the majority of us want to see so that should be run through without any interruptions. I even get fed up with all the track grading as I don't think half of it is necessary.
  3. 100% correct. Not many fans were interested in second half racing 20/30 years ago and they're certainly not going to be bothered now with the majority of riders also in a rush to leave after the league match.
  4. No need for anyone to vote. You've won it hands down.
  5. What a shame it's just riders. Up until a few years ago we always had Annual Forum Member Awards in the close season with various categories.
  6. I thought all riders loved Poole? He probably can't wait to get back if his average fits.
  7. Hans will probably be returning to Poole anyway?
  8. I won't quote the post as it's quite long but what a brilliant one it is. Agree with every word and so I'm sure does every sensible speedway fan. Nothing will happen though, apart from probably the last paragraph will turn out to be true again.
  9. That's a difficult question. Whilst I have been supporting the Lions and NL Coventry this season I think if the standard dropped that low a lot of fans wouldn't bother and certainly wouldn't be willing to pay £17 or £18. I would prefer the Championship League purely because there are more teams so a bigger variety but it would be a shame if the riders you mention are no longer in it.....apart from Rory Schlein.
  10. Now that is something my son has always said about Speedway as he thinks the race is always decided in the first lap, or in his view the first bend. I've tried to get him interested over the years but to no avail.
  11. And me. Back then I was a Leicester supporter and I remember quite a few double decker buses heading over to Coventry along the A46 ~ no M69 back then.
  12. Can't see that ever happening as it is a popular place to watch the racing, also a lot of trees at the back. I don't think that would go down very well if they had to be removed.
  13. On the contrary I am always interested in any comments flagrag posts. Obviously there are some things that can't be confirmed until after the AGM but others will be released earlier. I think you need to chill a bit as you seem to be easily irritated. Shame we no longer do the Annual Forum Awards or you'd be a cert for the Victor Meldrew one.
  14. Coventry have completed all their home NL league fixtures haven't they? If you mean National Trophy I doubt anyone will be bothered.
  15. Hopefully that's the track so we can lose the reputation of being a boring gaters paradise.
  16. I keep being told to 'keep the faith' but how things are with Speedway at the moment I can't see anyone being in a rush to take over, making Brandon usable again , or a new stadium being built. Pessimistic or realistic take your pick but as far as I'm concerned it's the end and I've just got some happy memories to look back on.
  17. Presumably that's the end of the Bees, for the time being anyway. They didn't exactly go out in a blaze of glory losing the match 40-50 but there was some good racing and the crowd looked better than previous matches. Thank you to Mick Horton for keeping the name alive in 2018, all the riders and everyone else connected to the club. Congratulations to Eastbourne and good luck in the final.
  18. You'll be lucky. Once the Poole lot get their teeth into something, even if it's not on the appropriate thread, they never give up.
  19. I'm sure they would but the problem might be the PL not wanting to lose another one. I don't think it's possible to just drop down without permission and with the possibility of only 5 or 6 clubs left I can't see that being given. I would much prefer to be in the Championship as there is a bigger variety of teams, or failing that one big league.
  20. I doubt if they will be allowed to drop down so perhaps there is going to be one league afterall. Fingers crossed.
  21. Not many. Even Steve Shovlar couldn't bring himself to do the usual match report and disappeared.
  22. Try being a Leicester fan. 4 out of 5 years with sod all, apart from a collection of wooden spoons.
  23. Love to watch James riding. Great style and was lucky enough to see him quite a bit when he was a member of The Storm.
  24. Trouble with that idea is there probably wouldn't be many 'meaningful' matches up to the end of September as the league winner could have been decided much earlier. At least with the play offs a few clubs are usually in with a chance of reaching them so the battle goes on. Challenges are a bad idea too as the majority of fans aren't interested, especially on cold dark nights in October.
