  1. Yes, I think tracks closing is a big influence on numbers dropping on here. In my case 10 years ago when Coventry closed. I only look in now and again these days but prior to that it would be every day. Another reason is the blinking adverts if I try to look on my phone as they just take over everything so I usually give up.
  2. The adverts are awful trying to look at the forum on a phone but I suppose are necessary. 😔
  3. Taken over? I thought it had always been Phil's from the beginning and still is? I must have missed something.
  4. I would say August is still really the height of Summer so you may have to think of a better reply. I know Liontamer well and as a previous long standing supporter myself - 70 years for me - I fully understand his feelings. Speedway as a sport is great but all the endless delays between races is not. Numerous laps of watching a tractor go round, sun breaks, riders messing around at the tapes for ages is boring and sadly I don't miss it either. In hindsight perhaps I should edit that as I really miss going to Coventry as I made the journey along the M69 for over thirty years after Leicester closed in 1983 and made a lot of friends there. Beaumont Leys was never the same and I only went once dogs were allowed after a few years but can't say I really enjoyed it and eventually didn't bother. Another track I would never go to again was Kings Lynn after hanging around for ages waiting for the Sun to move somewhere before racing could continue.
  5. Yes he had three sons Neil, Clive and Craig. Craig lost his life at Peterborough in 1983.
  6. Thank you. To change the subject there is no way I would let Bradley drive me anywhere. 99% of the time he only has one hand on the wheel and sometimes none at all. 😳
  7. I know Clive Featherby has died but did he have a son also called Clive? Just wondering if it was him on this week's Breaking Dad programe with Bradley Walsh. It was in Brisbane and Monster Truck racing.
  8. Finn Jenson was an expert on that.
  9. Touring the World in his motorhome. 😁 Andy was one of my favourite riders for the Bees. Loved his style of riding.
  10. The track condition is not being helped this afternoon as it is absolutely chucking it down again.
  11. That made me laugh because my son, who is not interested in Speedway, has always said that.
  12. Yes I have got a few photos of Bruce with Geoff Capes, George Best etc. in one of my Speedway albums on Facebook. I think I won them in a Speedway Star competition but no idea now what it was.
  13. Can you explain the meaning of wokeness full stop?
  14. I dont think it was a week ~ more like a match. 3-0-3-0. I used to hate that.
  15. Thanks Iain. My speedway days are over but its comments like this that make me appreciate the fact I am actually not that bothered. Seeing the tractor do more laps than the bikes has always been one of my pet hates.
  16. I am keeping very well thank you but my 4 wheels these days is a mobility scooter as I no longer have a car. Even if I did I dont think I would bother though. Sad but I couldn't cope with all the hanging around these days.
  17. It's things like this that make me realise I don't miss Speedway meetings now.
  18. One of my hates whenever we went to Kings Lynn. I'm sure all the track grading isn't necessary but is just done to make the meetings last longer, otherwise we would all be home within an hour.
  19. Don't make a habit of it and definitely don't beat them home and away to be champions. They don't like that at all. Like the disappearing thread all the hot water goes and the opposing team are left with just cold showers. No celebrations, no congratulations. Just awful sore losers.
  20. Yes. Cold showers for the Leicester riders tonight. You were saying?
  21. But the same could be said of a pain in the neck child. Personally if I knew I had a dog that didn't behave I would have left it at home so that was the owners being inconsiderate. I can 100% guarantee that Lucy my Border Collie will just lie down and not be any trouble to anyone wherever she is so I regularly take her to a Tea Room next to the canal where we walk every day. Dogs are welcome there.
  22. What if the dog isn't at all bothered by the 'noisy environment'? I always took a dog with me when going alone to Oxford, Wolverhampton, Peterborough, Coventry or Leicester. None of them have ever shown the slightest concern about noisy motorbikes, in fact quite the opposite as they just went to sleep on a blanket while the match was on. Border Collies too that are supposed to be lively.
