  1. I thought the whole idea was to run National League matches on the Saturdays when there was a GP so 99% of the time there is always a match?
  2. Always brings criticism from some on here as I found out when I dared to mention the subject several years ago. I'm quite relieved now that I don''t go to any tracks these days other than Leicester, who do allow dogs, and very occasionally Peterborough who also allow them.
  3. My Border Collie Lucy doesn't need dragging as she actually waits by the door when I'm going to Beaumont Park and before that Coventry since she was 9 weeks old. To answer your question ~ in my case company on the journey to Brandon and I would feel safer with a dog with me if the car broke down. Same reason for Leicester, also it's quite a trek back to the shopping centre car park in the dark. I really don't know why you find it such a problem if people have a dog with them as owners obviously wouldn't if they were distressed or annoying to other fans. Everyone knows Lucy and she gets lots of fuss, then when the match starts she just goes to sleep.
  4. Shame about Josh. He can be a bit 'wild' and exciting to watch but this time not at fault at all when both Eastbourne riders fell in front of him.
  5. There were probably some even better examples of it at Leicester last night because at last there was a visiting team with fighting spirit. Thank you Eastbourne for some brilliant racing but thanks also to the Lions, down to 6 men after Josh's first heat crash, who never gave up and battled hard to get three 5-1's in the last heats.
  6. I thought they were quite intelligent actually, as against childish stupid comments about taking a dog to the cinema or football matches.
  7. I'd do the lottery this week if I were you. Smack on with tonight's score but what a cracking match it was ~ best this season ~ and the Lions only pulled away because of three 5-1's in the last 3 heats. Just shows how good the racing can be when the visiting team is prepared to put up a fight so well done to Eastbourne but congratulations to the Lions also for continuing to battle away after losing Josh Bates following his nasty crash in his first ride after both Eastbourne riders fell in front of him. Hope he recovers quickly.
  8. Don't bother going to Leicester then because there were at least 4 there tonight and sorry to disappoint you but no dog poo and no barking. You always know someone is losing the argument when they resort to stupid comments like taking a dog to the cinema . Speedway attendances of a few hundred people standing on a grassy bank as against thousands seated at a Football match is another daft comment not really worthy of a reply.
  9. I can't understand this rule anyway. Coventry ran Greyhound Racing and dogs were still always allowed. Wolverhampton, Oxford and Swindon all did then suddenly brought the rule in so that was the end of our visits to those tracks. There aren't exactly any Greyhounds wandering around during Speedway matches so why are visiting fans pet dogs banned? If it's just a health risk it would be simple enough to show up-to-date injection records.
  10. Still possible for all the elderly supporters to have a lie in on Sunday morning or an extra nap during the afternoon then go to bed earlier than usual.
  11. Bank Holiday Monday is a bit different to a midweek match, especially with a lunchtime start so plenty of time to be tucked up in bed at a reasonable hour for work the next day.
  12. Yes how did I forget Swindon? After gaining entry and paying the car park charge we then got escorted off the premises at checkpoint 2. Never been back since.
  13. If no-one replies about Eastbourne you'll probably be able to find out tomorrow. You used to be able to take them as we have been but that was many years ago when Coventry won 46-45. That result is stuck in my memory for some reason.......or was it 45-44. You can add Newcastle and Wolverhampton to the No list.
  14. Thanks very much for checking. I have been offered £20 for it and 7 other badges so just wondered as I have no idea. I will stick with the offer then. Thanks again.
  15. Bates riding should be interesting. Best to stand well back. I think Ryan is still recovering from his painful shoulder injury so will probably find the Eastbourne track a bit difficult.
  16. Anyone have a rough idea how much one of these would be worth please?
  17. Well I was grateful thanks as I wouldn't have gone on Saturday. I think I must be past standing around in freezing cold weather now because I had decided earlier than the call off that I wasn't going whether it rained or not. Perhaps the promotion should just keep quiet and not explain anything because when they do their words get criticised anyway. I had been thinking this season how well they were doing with their use of the media and even the reason for any delays during a match being explained over the loudspeakers, but perhaps it's not the best idea.
  18. I think you should read through the posts again because a few of us have said it was a good match, but there is never anyone on a Leicester topic who actually goes into a great deal of detail about individual rider performances or heat details. If you support the Lions perhaps you can do it?
  19. I think it would have been well down last night as well, rain or no rain. I wouldn't have ventured out in that freezing cold wind for a start and I'm sure as Speedway fans are mostly elderly ~ according to opinion on here ~ there would be a good few staying at home as well. I was beginning to think I should have stayed at home this afternoon too when finding the shopping centre car park closed as I had no idea where I was going or if I'd be capable of walking to the stadium, after finding somewhere to park the car. That's if I could even find it Good match though in spite of the score and well done to Ellis Perks on a magnificent 12 points.
  20. He didn't roll or touch the tapes though, just a brilliant reaction.
  21. Really? Just looked at the two teams and Newcastle seem pretty good to me. We'll find out tomorrow night.
  22. Normally all crowds are up at the beginning of each season. Since opening in 2011 I'd say Leicester's have gone down over the years but have now leveled out to probably around 1,500?
  23. No-one mentioned Peter York yet? Having put up with him at Coventry for several seasons commenting on each race my answer is definitely NO it is not needed and is damn annoying.
