  1. You need ArnieG. I'll send him a PM. Sorry I don't know but as Leicester had closed in 1962(?) until 1968, who of course had Red and Gold as their colours, perhaps it was an attempt to lure their supporters over to Long Eaton? Just a guess - I'm sure Arnie will be able to help.
  2. Isobel lived locally and I knew she had committed suicide but I couldn't remember how. Very sad really but probably due to the shame of being caught shop lifting. I'm sure she would have been dealt with leniently due to her age so it's such a shame she decided to kill herself. And while we are on this sad subject another who comes to mind is Ted Moult who was a farmer but also appeared in quiz shows and will also be remembered for being in the advert for double glazing. It's really sad that some people can see no way out of their depression except to commit suicide.
  3. If it ever came back again I nominate Wizzer to appear. There can't be many quiz shows he hasn't been on now.
  4. Gosh! It's a good job I can't remember anything about our match with the Bees.
  5. I think boredom has set in and not so many are that interested in the G.P's any more.....well not like we used to be anyway. Too many already and more planned. Zzzzzzz Plus 90% of them have been crap and hardly worth watching.
  6. I've seen him in a lot worse than that. I actually thought it was quite nice.
  7. Bit like the millenium with all the celebrations a year too early.
  8. Yes, it was very dusty unfortunately, even though Chris Louis (think it was him) said at the beginning it wasn't dust. I don't know what he thought it was then. I'm sure the track looked wet after each break and if you went to Olly Allen's testimonial you'll know that even after a track is watered it's still nigh on impossible to keep the dust down sometimes. Otherwise one of the best G.P's this season and I enjoyed it.
  9. It looked to me as if the track had been watered after every 4 heats, but perhaps I was seeing things like an oasis in a desert. Seemed to me as if there was work going on in the breaks as not only did we get adverts but we got a lot of extra chat as well from Sam and Gary before the racing was resumed.
  10. Many thanks Danish Webmaster. Your programme is much appreciated as usual.
  11. Sky Sports Xtra so nicely poised to be booted off to the red button again. Edit...... *7pm to 10pm. *
  12. Can't say I noticed what time the actual racing started as I was too busy chatting to friends I hadn't seen for a while. However, I agree with you about riders returning to the pits as that annoys me too. That's one thing I noticed at Sheffield & Somerset recently - once a race had been stopped the riders immediately went back to the tapes whereas at Coventry the "pits gate" is moved to allow the riders to go back in. Just no need for it sometimes.
  13. I thought it was a great evening and it was lovely to see the Brandon terraces packed. Yes, it did go on for ages but my dog Molly lay down on a blanket for the whole time. What a little trooper. Mind you she did shoot into the hedge when the fireworks went off right at the end - I wasn't expecting them. Nice to catch up with some old friends - Startline Sid and Ralph (the Airdale) who was also really well behaved as usual, although Molly wouldn't let him share her blanket. Nasty dog. Also good to meet Zonkers for the first time, KevH, London Witch, Hayley & James. On to Monday now where I feel it will be a sight lot draughtier on the 4th bend with all the empty spaces.
  14. The only long gaps were caused by crashes and the aftermath of them. Can't do anything about that unfortunately.
  15. Well I won't be getting one either even if I have to sit there all night and just watch the racing. I'll be able to recognise Bomber anyway and tot up how many points he gets.
  16. Sorry Colin but you'll never make it with poetry. Started off well but that last bit doesn't rhyme.
  17. Coventry forum members are scattered around the stadium usually but the majority (all the important ones) are on the 1st bend. I'm on the 4th with a group of friends and my dog so should be easy to spot if you fancy a walk round sometime during the evening. Bring your earplugs though as the P.A. is deafening on that bend.
  18. He never changes does he? Seen him do that so many times. Also what's with all the spitting? Makes me feel sick.
  19. I hope not because that would reduce the attendance by quite a margin I would imagine, judging by how the fans stay at home whenever Coventry are on Sky.
  20. I don't understand all this "Red button" thingy but as a Virgin Media customer I presume I should be worried. Am I going to miss the last hour of the G.P. then?
  21. And double Whoosh! I'm quite pleased with myself actually because very often I get "the joke" on here when others don't, which helps to reassure me that I've not yet gone senile. Reading the forum definitely keeps my brain active.
  22. Of course there is an alternative to staying over if it's too expensive - go on one of the coaches that all the tracks run to Cardiff. That's what I do now.
  23. On the other hand Ed Kennett was supposed to have looked really fast in the practice on Monday, but then look what happened.
  24. Ed unfortunately seems to have slightly gone off the boil riding for Coventry as well so I would definitely replace him with Lee Richardson and keep the rest of the team as per Monday.
