  1. I think I'm banging my head against a brick wall because the point I'm making is not getting through. I'm not saying he should ride in England as well. I'm saying if he is cheesed off with all the air travel & riding day in and day out and he wants to spend more time with his family then why not drop Poland/Sweden and just ride in the Elite League? The only air travel he would have to do then is to the G.P's. But he wouldn't choose that option would he because he gets more money riding in Poland than England; hence it's about money. Colin Cooke's post said In Scott's own words, "The reason i've gone the way i have this year is because it wasn't working for me riding day in day out & flitting from airport terminal to airport terminal". Anyway, I couldn't give a monkeys where he rides or what he does (just giving my opinion) so at least we are agreed on that bit, although I wouldn't mind seeing your list of the million sportsmen who earn their living outside where they were born.
  2. And you are missing the point I'm making. If he's cheesed off with all the air travel as you said in an earlier post and wants to spend more time with his family why not knock Poland and Sweden on the head and just ride in his home country, plus the G.P's? Truth of the matter is probably more to do with money......or money he thought he would be getting abroad. Whether he is now getting as much as he expected I don't know, but he no doubt gets a lot more riding in Poland than he does in England and that's more likely to be the crux of the matter.
  3. No Poland, no Sweden I said. Presumably he's riding for the Bees so just as an example for next week - G.P. yesterday, Monday at Peterborough and Coventry on Friday. That's not so hard and he's not riding day in and day out. What's all this "Sky meeting and Poole Wednesday?" He has the whole week at home with his daughter if that's what he wants but he might find that a lot more tiring than riding speedway bikes. I know from experience of looking after my own children and grandchildren.
  4. I just don't get this. If he wants to see his daughter grow up surely the leagues to knock on the head are Sweden, Poland, or Denmark etc. where he has to fly in and out of the country "flitting from airport terminal to airport terminal", not Britain. Where is the furthest he'd have to travel over here - Belle Vue - if he's based near Ipswich? And he's said that before about not accepting a seeded place if he didn't get in the top 8. He didn't even bother to do the qualifier as a back up. He accepted the place though. We'll see. I'm going to shut up now because I'm beginning to sound like someone.
  5. Misunderstanding here I think. I meant he did bugger all in the World Cup at Coventry.
  6. Well, I hope not but Rune Holta rode for Norway and then switched to Poland.
  7. Well he did bugger all at Coventry last year. If that was his "best" then heaven help us.
  8. So if he's got a Polish passport does that mean he can ride for Poland in the World Cup? If this is the case I wonder if he can be persuaded to get an English passport instead because we could certainly do with talent like him in the team.
  9. Tony Millard doesn't annoy me too much but his repetition of "and right at the back is......" every race drives me mad. Often the rider "right at the back" then proceeds to move into second place just after he's said it, as happened tonight. Bah!
  10. Is Steve even on here any more? It doesn't look like he has posted anything since last August.
  11. Damn stupid idea I agree but it doesn't look like it's going to change any time soon and your chances of getting a reply as to why don't look very good either.
  12. No Billy Janniro? Surely he would do better than Ricky Wells and Kenny Ingalls (with apoligies if he is another Greg Hancock but I've never heard of him.)
  13. Received a reply from Alan this morning. He is not a member of the forum so as a guest can't post at the moment (I'll work on that!) Hello Janet Nice to hear from you again and it looks like the return of speedway in Leicester is getting nearer. I have read the comments on Speedway Forum and as you say I am not a member. perhaps I should be! However, the track was built on land that formed part of Lodge Farm in the parish of Belgrave. The old farmhouse was converted to a clubhouse and the outbuildings were adopted as a workshop for the mechanics. This may help the person to locate the site who was looking on the Ordnance Survey map. Of course the features of Melton Road has changed somewhat since 1929 when the Super was built. As you can see from the details above, there were no properties, only fields. But to give you a fix, on the way out of Leicester on the right hand side just before the X roads where Thorn Lighting stands there is (or was) a building that was occupied by Iceland (Frozen foods) and the track was situated in the fields behind this building. Hope this answers the question. Regards, Alan
  14. And I'm still trying. Have sent Alan an email to the last address I had for him so hopefully he will reply. Watch this space.
  15. Alan is a member on here so I have sent him a P.M. Hopefully he will then be able to answer the question.
  16. I've seen Barrow Boy if that counts. Met him for the first time at Peterborough tonight.
  17. Who's the one who has just lost his record contract ..... Leon somebody? Perhaps be him, although anyone would be better than Tom Jones who should just be limited to radio these days.
  18. Have you got to stay over? Coventry run coaches to Cardiff, getting there around 12pm and I'm sure Birmingham will as well.
  19. Strewth Norbold. We're not that old on here. Perhaps your best bet will be Kiwi if he spots this and asks his Dad.....or his Grandad.
  20. What do you mean during the 70's and 80's? If you stay right until the bitter end it's still played at Brandon. Well, it was but I suppose it will be getting the boot again this season now Superbart is back.
  21. I was just going to ask that as well.
  22. Many thanks Tony. Much appreciated.
