Swindon Vs Kings Lynn 21 August 2017
theblueboy replied to Steve0's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That is a scenario, that Swindon do not want to even think about. A rain off, which would effectively make 2 home fixtures redundant, would have serious ramifications on the Robins finishing top and leave them with the possibility of having the decision to choose their opponents out of their hands. I think that it will be interesting to see which amoeba actually owns up to compiling the Swindon fixture list because it is, without doubt, a shocker of a run in given that effectively have had 159 days in which to run a much reduced fixture list (compared with other seasons where we have have had upwards of 36 matches to include) Fixtures should, with some exceptions, be set in stone. I have already had my two pence worth regarding the changes to the revised final dates and this just adds to the general consensus that we are really dealing with several village idiots who just haven't got a clue how to run a professional sport. -
Relegation And Promotion Play Offs

What a bunch of useless c***s these people are. Do the powers that be actually give a monkeys about us mere supporters (its an ironic question - I know the answer) I deliberately planned my job around the PO to ensure that should Swindon be successful and reach:- 1) The Play Offs 2) The Final It was all sorted. Now I find I am on the outskirts of London for a 2 day meeting with another colleague, which, should they be successful, will hamper my attempts to attend either fixture. Having barely missed a fixture for 10 years at home and attended all the PO semi finals and travelled away on a number of occasions during this period this really is a poor way to treat proper fans. Another big 3 points as the Robins continue their march on to top spot in the qualifying competition for the end of season cup. Excellent crowd and clearly there is a price at which people will come to watch speedway. Well done to KL on their efforts, given their recent personnel changes and tbh, probably give Swindon a timely reminder that the season is only just beginning for them. 'Much bigger clubs' have been worried by the Robins 1-7 and have ridden and rolled over accordingly. Track nice and smooth and I wouldn't be surprised to see this track pushing for the 'best track' award in the EL. I think it's between us and Poole to see who gets the nod. I suspect both Chris and Troy were both licking their lips in anticipation to be honest at the billiard green smoothness of The Abbey and wishing they could have been there. Finally, a couple of observations. Young Jorgensen, in my book, looks tailor made for the 'David Bellego Award' for Swindon 2018 and can someone lend Jason Doyle the book 'The art of captaincy and team riding' by Sir Leigh Adams. He may find this a useful addition to his collection. -

What's the view on heat 3 and Bellego's disqualification? -

Unfortunately GRW, I think it will. If the two teams take to the tapes as it stands I don't really see where KL are going to get the points to mount a serious challenge. The last match at The Abbey had Holder and Batch in the line up and are decent riders here plus Huckenbeck who mopped up at reserve. There are no equivalent riders of a similar standing replacing those three. Maybe Porsing at reserve will prove too strong for BWD but the heat leader trio for Swindon are, on current form, far too strong for KL. I do like the look of young Jorgensen tho'. Quick off the tapes and in front too. Saw him at the 4s at Peterborough and took a decent ride from Harris to reel him in. 18 point win for the Robins. -

From a Swindon perspective, how do you manage to have no racing for several Thursdays during the season with good weather, and then have to run several fixtures in close proximity including a double header just so you can get all your meetings in before the official cut off. Shambolic. How the promotion can justify 5 home meetings in 10 days I'm not sure. It doesn't materially affect me financially but there are many others that it will. I appreciate that there are offers in place, which are reasonable but to have run 9 league meetings in 20 weeks is risable. -
To be fair, I suspect that when the fixtures were agreed there was nobody missing. You can't blame Zummerset for making 2 signings, which have galvanised their season by moaning that they miss a fixture. They are now in the mix for 4th place and with some interesting fixtures coming up will be a bun fight with KL and Rye for fourth. Who knows how many e/f or tapes infringements could happen on the night to assist our neighbours...

Aren't you self employed Steve? How would you like restriction in the work you do and what customers you could and could not see. You'd be in meltdown. The riders chase the dollar, which in my mind they are entitled to do. The fact is they chase it across continental Europe and therefore clashes inevitably happen. If your best customer phoned you at short notice would you let them down? I suspect not. The riders are free to choose where they ride, although I accept they sign contracts and that should give the club within that country first call on agreed nights. However, the issue lies with the organisation that has overall control within speedway, which should oversee everything e.g FIFA in European football and they should acknowledge each contract and ensure a rider rides in the country that has first call. Their ineptitude, has allowed the Poles to have, more or less, overall control and until this time is reversed the status quo will remain. I am not sure a self-employed rider should belong to anyone and therefore no loan fee payable. However, the rider signing a contract in the relevant country is his tacit agreement to follow the necessary rules of each speedway nation. If he doesn't, a global ban should follow for the relevant period including all GP's etc Would that change things, who knows but the governance in this sport is appallIing and no one adheres to anything, which is why the riders and the Polish clubs reign supreme. Until that changes the sport will continue to be the same amateurish b@llocks that it has always been.

Is there any truth in the rumour that Paxo are to be announced as team sponsors for next year?

Questions that remain unanswered from last night's action at the FPA in Dorset:- Can anyone confirm if Gater1 is still alive or is today designated a 'blue cross' sale day at Debenhams for a new supply of purple chino's? Was it KK that was seen at Wickes purchasing a wheelbarrow to carry his points money home last night. I heard from my sources close to the Wickes management team that they had only just restocked after Doyle & Co had cleaned them out only a few weeks previously? How long is it from Poole to Glasgow and will Volvo Cars be supplying the transport or will the lads use their push bikes from last night? Is this likely to be on the Comedy Channel anytime soon? If any of my BSF buddies can help us out and particularly any Poole fan that wants to get in touch it would be much appreciated... -
Sounds like a minibus full lads. Only one snag, it will be Glasgow they are heading for, not Wiltshire...

Poole Vs Rye House Thurs 10/8/17
theblueboy replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
So when is the new stadium going to be renamed the 'Four Point Arena'? I haven't enjoyed my speedway so much as I have done this season, and judged by my fellow BSF buddies comments, they seem to be enjoying it as much me and that in no small part down to Matt Ford. I think we all owe Matt a big thank you for his efforts this season because it takes a certain 'je ne sais quoi' to turn pre-season favourites and top of the table after 7 or 8 matches in to relegation fodder and getting spanked regularly by over 20 points at home by all comers. Cheers Matt but pleeaaassseee don't take the team in to National League next season, otherwise, where will Swindon get their points from next season.... -
I was just being my usual p*** taking self. I don't necessarily agree with how the meetings have been worked out, especially with all the blank weeks we have had. To actually run a double header is just about as bad as it gets in terms of fixture planning. I am just happy that the promotion are looking to maximise attendance during this congested month and given how the team are performing they are rewarded with big crowds. I am torn between the Robins helping Zummerset in to the play offs with a couple of narrow home defeats or wanting the 'bottle jobs' on the South Coast in to the Play Offs so that we can fill our boots again. It's certainly a tough one. Having said that, the opportunity to meet Gater1 who would no doubt relish a trip over the border would definitely swing it in favour of Poole.
-
And to think people people were moaning about the fact we had loads of meetings in August. Top of the table, cheap meetings to boot and if we're really lucky, a Somerset win by 7 points at Blunsdon on Bank Holiday Monday. Luvvly jubbly...

Is This Swindon Team The Best Of Recent Times?
theblueboy replied to DC2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Totally irrelevant. Speedway has been rubbish for a number of years and the problems that we see are seen every year. In terms of quality, the teams are built to exactly the same points limit. The quality is significantly lower but all teams are exactly the same whether you build to 50 or 30 points. To win 11 on the bounce irrespective of quality is a remarkable achievement given that a significant proportion of those wins have occurred without the one rider that is genuinely world class. -

The Robins have raced you 4 times this season and on each occasion the Pirates were 'out of form'? How unlucky is that? How do you account for the rest of the season tho'? 🤔 -

So, if the top of the table on a 11 match winning run is mediocre. What is the one word you would use to describe the 4th place Pirates? -

Belle Vue Aces Vs Poole Pirate 31/07
theblueboy replied to SCB's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I hope people aren't going to revel in another pitiful Poole performance... Given the current abject performances put in by this Poole team, I would say that KK has a chance of making the play offs. Wouldn't that be karma for Fraud & Co. -
This is desperately bad timing. He is clearly developing at The Abbey and the improvement over the last 6 weeks has been phenomenal. He has been an integral part of the Robins upturn with his contributions both home and away. Crucial loss and I hope whoever the replacement is can just ride to their average.
