  1. Probably time the promotion stopped trying to please everyone, as they can only achieve pleasing a minority at any one time. Do what Peter Waite did, listen to everyone, take on board the good ideas and dump the rest. At the same time P.W. did not get upset about criticism, he just took it on the chin, you could say anything to him and he did not get upset. The current team structuring has not neen successful, so time to take a new direction. The average fan does not require an all winning team, it does however want good racing and to be entertained, an area which is no longer apparent, I suppose value for money fits.
  2. Seems to me, everyone is looking for other clubs cast-offs, I think it's time Berwick took a new direction, and looked for new talent. Taking other clubs cast-offs for the last 4 years hasn't worked, time to take a risk on new talent, explain to the fans it is about long term development, it may not work in 1st year, but will pay in the long term. Remember 2001 3 new Czech riders on a 9 point average.
  3. I believe the decision is to stay on 42.5, dependent on what E.L. decide.
  4. Thought 3 came into play if an Aussie had dual nationality ( a UK parent), if he is an Aussie national comes in on a 5.
  5. Dyer is not a UK National, he would need a work visa on top of the visa he has to ride speedway (sport related visa). Probably unlikely it would be granted.
  6. I believe a dcision was made 3 weeks ago the the ave for 2014 will remain at 42.5, but dependant on EL decisions
  7. Don't worry Pet, if I worried about what folk think about me, I would be an organised funny farm, not the disorganised funny farm that is speedway.
  8. On paper I am a pain in the proverbial, but in reality i am bl***dy fantastic :drink:
  9. I see the club is appealing for sponsors for Liam Carr, for nextv season. I am on board to sponsor Liam next season if he rides for Berwick Bandits or not. It's time to help the local lad, it would be a dream to have a group of sponsors as we had with TEAM RYMEL
  10. I like in general two ways of putting a team together, my favourite, and the way Newcastle nearly always go down, is a team in depth, 1 to 5 solid steady riders that can gate, and ride as well away as they do at home, carrying 2 reserves but hoping they come good. The other way is a serious No 1 with the best 2 reserves in PL, filling the gaps with 4 journey men. The question is are the type of reserves out there to do the latter.
  11. I have not seen anywhere, where, Neil Machin said he is not going to run, simply the club is for sale, I am sure he will keep it running until it is sold.
  12. Anyone is welcome to join me in sponsoring Liam, I already am helping him next season. Credebility means nothing to me, I am who I am, anyone who dislikes me, who the rubbish cares, certainlt not me. Too much self interest from BSPA, why do you think Neil Machin is so pissed off with it all
  13. It would be nice to keep it constructive, we all have different views, but a concensus can be found by getting lots of different views. Dunno, but we will have the other SAUCE in the Grove tonight.
  14. On top of that you need 2 reliable engines plus a couple of back ups, have a shunt a new rolling chassis probably close to £2000. You can re-build an engine, do one meeting blow the engine, no redress to the tuner, just another new engine. You will have heard the stories of the Poles turning up with 6 engines. Cost Cost and more Cost, you can now see how difficult it is for someone like Liam Carr. For him I would like a group to get together and support the local lad, a bit like TEAM RYMEL.
  15. It's not the wages they used to get, the real problem is the cost of equipment, a few years ago an engine was about £4500, with a re build aevery 12 meetings at a cost of about a £1000. Today a tuned GM about £7500, with a re build about £1500 every 5 meetings. This is why riders rely so much on sponsorship, it is why for years I do not sponsor clubs, only riders. Heinz 57 sources
  16. Scott, a conversation with Adrian and a group of speedway riders over the weekend. To compete in speedway today you really have to ride in at least 3 countries to make it viable, either your own country plus Poland & Sweden, or U.K & Sweden. The other way is to do it as a hobby, supported by normal employment and local sponsors, just not financially viable to just ride in U.K PL. Another option for a few riders would be to double up to the EL with the PL and still do another country. How much am I being paid according to these sources, I don't come cheap, being as brilliant as I am
  17. I am sure many would like to know, however 'SOURCE', you think I have one
  18. Promoters had meeting last week, where this was discussed and voted on, decision was to keep 42.5 points, but dependant on what EL decide.
  19. Scott, why can you not accept different people have differing opinions on speedway, without getting personal. It appears you believe everything is O.K. as it is, others do not. Everyone needs to be able to step back and look at themselves, that includes our promotion. As you have said, they have achieved many good things at Shielfield Park, some important like the fence, others of less importance like catering. Not only at Berwick, crowds have fallen drastically, there has to be a reason, my belief is at Berwick we have settled into a safe track with processional racing and the fans are not being entertained, so are not willing to hand over their hard earned cash if in their opinion are not getting value for money. Priority for 2014 must be track preperation, as that is the biggest complaint I get on a daily basis, followed by the team set up, and it's effectiveness to entertain the paying public. It is no use preaching to the die-hards, people like myself will be there, it is really important to re-engage with those fans that no longer attend, also the reasons they no longer attend. The more constructive the arguament, the more likely a concensus can be found, and more likely speedway at Berwick will continue.
  20. Scott, I am sure people who go to the cinema, part of thier experience is to have a bucket of coke to wash down a bucket of popcorn, after the film pop in somewhere for a bucket of chicken with a bucket of chips washed down with a another bucket of coke. I just go to watch the film.
  21. Nothing wrong with using George English as a person who can not only spot potential and go for it but also put together a good balanced team. I have a lot of time for George, looking at the way he does things would do no harm only good. Just look at Worral, then this year Kerr now Rosen, what superb signings for Newcastle.
