Wroclaw GP Saturday August 27th

Dan still not quite "throwing it all in" on those tight corners.. Lambert doesnt get bullied quite the same Dan seems to do from time to time.. Hope it doesnt hold Dan back because he certainly is a unique talent.. A lot of Zmarzliks success is down to sheer bravado and for natural talent Dan isnt too far behind.. -

No disrespect to the opposition standard currently, but he could do more than six titles... He would though be a "great" in any era... -

Sheffield v Belle Vue 25th August
mikebv replied to 4thbender's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Supporters have already found other things to do... I would say approximately 20,000 of them since 2000 or so.... When circa 40,000 a week would attend, now it's around 20,000 tops I would say... Doesnt help itself in any way shape or form by its Mickey Mouse rules and administration... Nor does its self policing do it any favours... Then you add in all the adhoc call offs due to all sorts of wide and various reasons, which often make no sense to fans who often will also suspect 'other motives' given it isn't unusual to have 'strange occurrences' happen on nights when star riders may fail to turn up or get injured the night before elsewhere... It simply reaps what it sows.. Hence the harvest is poor year after year... When will the famine hit? I suppose is the big question... -
The fans? Really? What a novel thought....

Correct .. Why would BV or any Div 1 track want to run a 2nd Division Championship? In years gone by you could maybe make a case for a Div 1 tracks' fans being interested due to the "novelty" of seeing riders that they ordinarily wouldnt watch... Hence the crowd level may be profitable with enough home team fans turning up.. However, nowadays. Every Div 1 track sees Div 2 Riders appearing there week in week out, so zero novelty and pretty much zero interest off the back of that I would suggest.. Running at a venue where the home crowd is usually good in number, and are at that level makes perfect sense... -
Can't you dry out a wet phone by putting it in rice?... If so, maybe a few kilos of Basmati spread on the track might do the trick? Basmati could become the official designated rice to be used as laid down in the regulations, (and endorsed by an ex world champion), but there obviously will need some supplementary regs, re when a. "guest rice" could be used if the local supermarket didn't have enough Basmati to fully do the trick..... As you wouldn't want this type of scenario for example... "Tonight unfortunately Basmati rice cannot be here due to Tesco's running out, but instead we have fortunately managed to get some Long Grain arrive at the last minute. However tonights opponents are challenging whether the use of Long Grain is allowed given the extra length it has over the rice it is replacing, therefore there will be a delay whilst the referee inspects the rice and holds discussions with the two captains and managers"... Or Pasta? Could we use Twists maybe?.. Or Spirals if no Twists?... (Not Spaghetti, as too long and we would be in the same kind of Basmati/Long Grain controversy)... Or Youth Hostelling with Chris Eubank? Monkey Tennis!!!!!!!? .

A 'trifling' matter I believe.....

Problem you have is that whatever "punishment" there could be for a team calling off a meeting which could have gone ahead, it could result in a track closing down if a financial penalty.. And given in this case KL are not going to trouble the play offs, then a points deduction wouldnt make any difference to their season.. Any meeting not taking place delivering a point to the hone team, and two to the away team, and no re run, may focus the minds a. bit more? Riders would be putting pressure on promoters to run the meeting and maybe would be more inclined to race in conditions less than 100%, which appears to not always happen now.. When you make up your own rules you can pretty much do what you want, and all the promoters know that one day they will need to take advantage of this "laissez-faire" approach to regulations, hence nothing will ever change..

Indeed..... Jack not joining in with the celebrations either.... Personally I think the UK could adopt a seven man version of the Polish model... Six riders made up of four HL/SS's , two "juniors" and a number 7 who is under 23/24 who can come in and replace any of the top four... Wouldn't cost any more than current and stop the need for guests as you just bring your number 7 in to replace a top four rider... Poland speedway.....
