Ice Hockey thrives on such incidents... In the US they became very focused on losing that image until they got a fan backlash, with the fans wanting such fights to happen, as it added to the spectacle and the intensity of the rivalries.. Speedway clubs willingly share riders with each other virtually every night so making the sport one that generates passionate rivalry will naturally be difficult to achieve, therefore a bit of personal rivalry can add to it..

Can"t go wrong with a bit of Morrissey...

Sadly each season brings the same feeling doesn't it? Each year you think and hope, "This year it will be ran properly".... And by each April end you resign yourself to thinking "Once again, it isnt"... Looks like less domestic Speedway again for me, and more international meetings.. Still. If tracks close down again this year, we can all blame the landlords, local councils, environmentalist's, and property developers for their demise.....

Similar to Becker... Who signed for them but didint ride for them because he was injured so got released from the team... However... When it was realised that the rider who didnt replace him, but rode in place of him, couldnt not, not replace him again, someone else came in for one night only, to not replace him instead.. And this was only allowed because they had brought the rider, who was still injured and still couldnt ride, back into the team to be replaced by the rider(s) who were not replacing him..

Belle Vue v Wolves KOC 1st Leg 10/4 12.00

That's because when they get there they realise that the programme has Bomber in it riding for both teams... -
But you cannot declare a team with a rider you know isn't available to ride... At least you couldn't... Or has that rule changed?

Panthers v Leicester - Bank Holiday Monday

Benson maybe could become butler to the CEO, so at least one person could possibly explain everything that goes on..... -
Watching Polish racing at weekend they had a methanol tank in the pits... Presumably so all riders use the same source? It used to happen over here didnt it? If so, why not just go back to this system? Elf n Safety?

Watch videos of "the old days" and riders hit the bends straighter than they do now with the full broadside getting pulled almost at the end of the turn so they could get wheels in line for the straight... Similar to how grasstrack riders still do it... This meant riders had room on the outside to make passes as they entered the bends with heavy dirt to be used to lock up and find grip via the outside, and throttle control used to put the power down to the track... Nowadays at many tracks, given they are so slick, the riders go in "sideways", on full gas, blocking much of the track, meaning not much room around the outside to pass.. Sheffield with the air fence in particular has suffered, as has Monmore since the second bend was reconfigured...

Belle Vue v Wolves KOC 1st Leg 10/4 12.00

Agreed, and being a BHM it means the first leg score could have a lesser impact on the crowd than a non BHM would... A good call from the Aces.. -
Discovery must be really impressed with the way the custodians of UK Speedway run their version of the sport....
-
Would he have been allowed to guest again? Just one week after? And if they had redeclared with Scott in it for 28 days, isnt it then against the rules to redeclare the team again with a known injured rider (Becker) in it?
-
Don't the teams have to be out 48 hours before?
-
The rules today still allow a team to bring in a higher averaged rider to replace their "lesser rider" that is missing.. And if that rider is also a track expert at their place then "happy days"... Not worth getting too bothered about the rules given so much that takes place is contrived and cobbled together, often "in the interest of UK Speedway" if all else fails... Lambert's inclusion brought back a World Class rider who was worth watching whoever he rode for so the sport benefitted by many hundreds more turning up to watch him....

Ipswich v Belle Vue 13th April

Easy win for the Witches... 52-38 -
But every team brings ringers in all season to make it to the play offs (eg Bomber last night instead of Scott,).. I mean Becker not Scott (cough cough)... So why should the play offs be any different... Just use the tried and trusted ringer operating model all through the season.
-
You put your Becker in... You take your Becker out... In, Out, In Out, then shake it all about... Etc etc etc ..
-
The more that gets announced early though, the more the scrutiny on here of it's legitimacy...... Best to just announce nothing and keep your head down... The beauty being of course that even if things may not appear to some to be 100% correct, your opponents will invariably need to do something similar later in the season so will hardly kick up any fuss... A 'win/win'. ..

Belle Vue v Wolves KOC 1st Leg 10/4 12.00

Dan's starting technique is pretty awful to be honest... Proper MX style.. Craig Cook has a similar way of gating which has obviously worked for him domestically... Dan says he has put some "muscle weight" on, so maybe he isn't getting out of the starts with that upright, 'lift feet up and go' style that he has, the same as he did when a bit lighter.. It doesn't need too many extra pounds for inertia to play it's part at the starting gate given how important every first few yards are to the overall result.. Sometimes, it looks like he goes upwards rather than forwards as the back wheel seems to bounce in the air... The Polish faithful won't be as forgiving as the UK fans given so much more rides on his performances over there, so hopefully Dan can sort his early season issues out.. Always great to watch from the back so hopefully he soon starts to get to the second bend 'just behind' rather than a fair distance off, thus giving himself a chance of 3 points, and us fans a chance to watch a true generational talent on a bike.. -

They only need to be 4th from bottom come play off time... Then they can bring Lambo/#aceslegend back to retain their title so deservedly, and fairly, won last year... -

Maybe that is why the season is planned to be done by the end of September.. As it leaves 31 days in October to fit this prestigious event in... -
Wouldnt the Aces just keep Rowe? And let Mulford ride in the Colts and as a No8? Surely Rowe is a better rider currently?

Predictions for Prem 2023 as teams stand ...
mikebv replied to Pauldoveyspeedway's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
When the Aces get dialled in at home they will no doubt kick out plenty of their 15 point plus victories. Similar to Wolves, getting the bonus point should mostly be within their grasp most weeks... When the track gets drier during the warmer weather, and consistent every week during the "peak season" for racing volume, the Aces seem to kick on and deliver larger victory margins... They certainly wont be unhappy with no play offs in October this year I would think as when the track is colder and more damp the scores are often closer.. For me, they do appear one heat leader light and, given the 'number sixes' this year at most tracks, dont look like having any advantage by always having one of their "four second strings" in their tesm at reserve... -
