Four points tonight and three v us with us scoring nil this week and you would have been in the box seat.. Same meetings raced, two points in front therefore the No1 position would have been yours to lose... No points v Wolves? Really? Given up already? Surely not given Matt's track record?

Wow... Well done to Leicester... Poole starting to feel the pressure? 8 points from HA rides a plus, as was BP's numbers... Max simply shouldn't have been there so no blame attached to him, just glad he didn't make the farce even worse by helping to destroy his own teams', his own fans', and his own individual chances of success this year... Squeaky bum time on the South Coast....?

Let's hope they do like BV did and get the track shape right first then build the stadium around it.... A smaller NSS would be no bad thing or maybe even a 'Gustrow'..? Be a shame to focus on the stadium first then fit in a track of 'any shape' into the space left...

😂 I'd say about 2800 today... The turnsyles were clicking well but maybe more clicks may have been expected? Not much (if any at all?) advertising locally and to be honest "all expense spared" it appeared when it came to presentation... Still, lots of Smiths/Morrissey songs played to keep me happy... (Or miserable)...😉 As for Max guesting tonight for Poole? Surely 'that joke isn't funny anymore?"😠 Hope he scores nil, stays safe, Leicester win and their turnsyles spin merrily around with lots of use....

Excellent Speedway again at the NSS.... Two teams made up of their own riders, no guests, and lots of high speed close exciting racing on a track that, although understandably given the weather, was very slick, still afforded those behind opportunities to pass.. Not many tracks deliver such individual score cards with so many zeroes and threes I would suggest.. Quite simply every race you come to the tapes in you have a real chance of victory even if you have had a bad meeting till then, and vice versa you can be having a great meeting and very easily run a last such is the fairness of the circuit.. Should be a great play off final if both can get there... Looks like that No1 spot is definitely worth having to avoid Wolves I would think... Speedway when done well is a truly great sporting spectacle.. They should try and do more of it this way..😮 Edit: Scrap that last line, normal service bas been resumed... Just heard Max is riding FOR POOLE tonight now...! British Speedway! Ha Ha Ha! Brilliant!!! Truly today the sport goes from the sublime to the ridiculous in just a few short hours...😁

I think to make it work there would have to be a certain length of time/certain amount of meetings within that time, that you would have had to use a rider otherwise he could then become a free agent.. That would stop certain teams stockpiling riders, keeping them sweet with retainers and never using them but simply preventing others doing so.. If the sport goes to six man teams next year then a seven or eight man squad could be the first step to eradicating guests and bringing long required credibility to the sport. However, as we know, how that gets administered fairly is open for conjecture given the sports history of manipulating glaringly obvious loopholes of any new rules... Would be good for the sport though if the BSPA could make it work as it would also mean more regular fixtures as you would perm any six from eight riders so a couple missing regularly wouldn't mean having to plan in a very disjointed fixture list as is the case now..

Weather looking fine.. Lots of Mancunians in Piccadilly looking up to the sky and pointing in wonderment at that big yellow circular thing in the sky...☺ Let's hope the weather stays that way and we get a cracking meeting... Safe journey up to the Poole fans... Should be a great crowd, the biggest EL crowd anywhere this year? Come On You Aces...

And they also spend the first couple of months of every season able to include 'table toppers', League leaders, 'heading the title race', 'just off the top spot' etc etc etc in every press release... Not a bad thing to be able to say when trying to extract any 'undecideds' out of their armchairs, especially when the season is still fresh and fans' enthusiasm is at its highest.. (By that I mean pre Poland and Sweden starting so you get regular Speedway)..😉

Spot on... Same M.O. every season... Get ahead on matches at home then hope a bit of 'scoreboard pressure' sets in on some of the Leagues teams... However as it is done so often every team knows Lakeside will 'come back to them' as the season progresses... A classic example of a team with a large home advantage so maybe, if they pay a rider say £200 a point, change the deal to £300 a point away and £100 a point at home!!! Maybe that would change those threes and fours away to sixes and eights as they try and make up the 'shortfall' from their usual home track earnings..?

Or they bring in 'guest' Lackey's if their Lackey's are unavailable due to being on another forum somewhere else!!!

He does Steve, however last night was very much aimed I would say at the local dignitaries in attendance... Reading between the lines re the stadium usage going forwards I would suggest it was a good time to send a message out to the local community what an important part of the local area the Poole Pirates are.. And of course having hundreds of kids making loads of noise with their free 'der ders' in attendance will also focus minds on the benefits to the town of the Speedway being there.. I do have to say that I sometimes wonder what Matt would have done with the NSS.. Certainly a policy alone of 'build it and they will come' (as seems to be the BV promotions way) would not have been Ford's way I am sure..

Oh God.... Don't really want to say this but being an honest fella I have to... DOC/FF/Whoever, does have a point (granted, the only salient one he ever makes) when he says the play offs effect crowds in meetings such as this... I was 'wavering' as to whether to attend as we are virtually there so it didn't have any major bearing on our play off qualification. Then I saw that the meeting had been arranged knowing full well that NKI and Fricke couldn't be there and that Wolves and Cov would send riders instead and decided "joke sport, you've made my mind up, sod paying money for that"... However, if the meeting had been worth 3 points towards a Championship Title, and so late in the season, it would have taken on a significantly higher ranking of importance that I would have (as sadly we always seem to have to) put up with the sports ludicrous guest rules and attended.. Personally I think the playoffs are good as it does keep seasons alive for teams that are cut adrift from the No1 spot, and gives the sport a grand finale, however I do believe it does negatively effect attendances in the lead up to them by rendering a good many meetings, effectively 'dead rubbers'... There, said it.... Now going for a wash!!😁
