Good result for Berwick, nice to see all team members getting in amongst the point, good debuts for Starke and Eddie, well done the rest of the guys as well.

Berwick replace Ashworth and Edberg with Eddie Kennet and Paul Starke. Fair play to the promotion on this one, certainly putting there money where there mouth is as I cant imagine Kennet is a cheap option. Starke seemed to do quite well for Newcastle last season and surely will do better than the hopeless moaning Edberg. Really hope these signings can turn around our faltering season, good luck to the new guys.

Tbh I really dont know anything about them so I wouldnt like to guess. One thing I will say is speedway in general doesnt seem as exciting in my view since they introduced these silencers last season, so theres a good chance they are having a big effect. What do you think?

Must be honest I think this season is a very much critical season in the long term future of Berwick speedway. I have only been to one meeting this season so Im not going to cast judgement on the rest when I havent seen them, but judging by some loyal fans getting fed up and one even deciding to go and watch Glasgow, I really do wonder where the promotion go from here. Nobody can fault the infrastructure work and improved stadium facilities that the promotion have put in place, also they've improved the image of Berwick speedway from the Peter days, also dropped the admission. The real issue is though you can do the best promotional and ground work in the world, but if the product just isnt very good, people arnt going to go and watch it. I understand the promotion are in a very difficult position regarding changes to the track, so I dont personally know what I would suggest, perhaps a change of curator, see if that could do anything. As much as I am vocal when I see something I dont like, I really do hope speedway can pick up again at Berwick as it would be a shame if it was lost. One thing I think would also help is if the people who do press releases and are quoted in the press regarding the club all sung from the same hymn sheet, not having one person coming out saying Berwick have one of the biggest budgets in the league, then there saying they need more fans and there struggling, that doesnt really wash with fans imo. These are just my views anyways, I look forward to the majority disagreeing with them .

I personally just think its the shape thats the issue not really the preparation.

Didnt go so all I can say is at least they started the league campaign with a win.

Berwick should have plenty to see of Sheffield I think. Hope Alex can have a good meeting and regain some confidence. Stead should be well worth watching if somewhere near fully fit. Berwick by 12-14.

Totally agree, think its a massive shame whats happened to Alex, I was one of his biggest fans when he first came to Berwick, was agressive on track and could pass. If the injuries hes had have taken there toll then you cant blame the guy as they were horrendous. However if hes now scared, he needs to as you say bow out to avoid causing himself anymore harm or other riders. Thankyou Scott

Dont think theres any doubt something needs to happen with the track, it seems to go from as bald as the motorway to full of shale and dangerous, riders clearly not enjoying it, just see Cooks tweet and Edbergs facebook message. Its all well and good Scott (bigeddie) telling us its one of the best circuits in world speedway (lol) but its clearly not in the best place right now. I think the idea of Doc Bridgett having an input would be something to consider, makes a good job of Armadale and sure he does Wolves also.

Didnt go tonight but going by the updates only Bellego and perhaps Smith come out of tonight with any credit. Edberg needs to be replaced asap, seems a shadow of the rider he was pre injury. Feel sorry for Aspegren as I just dont think hes that suited to Berwicks track, obviously has talent, you dont pass Doyley at Somerset if your rubbish. Hopefully this result wont be overly detrimental on the crowds, I think the Monarchs are a very strong team.

Pity the bookies dont do betting on the PL, if they did I would have my life savings on Edinburgh, Berwick have no chance.

What a catastrophic collapse from Berwick. 15 points up after 7 heats and somehow manage to get beat. Absolutely pathetic from all concerned. Was the team manager just sitting with his feet up having a brew while this took place. Fair enough its the riders that go on track but I think the team manager needs to take some responsibility for this. Another season of mid table mediocracy looks on the cards for Berwick.

Come on guys, Alex is a good lad, a great club man. It doesnt really matter whether hes any good or not because hes popular with the fans and his dad paid for the race suits. Pretty much irrelevent what he does on the track, I'm sure he'll be a permanent in the team this season. Go Alex. Your right hes been flying this season, just about won us the match at Glasgow with his invaluable contribution.
