  1. Worth watching just to see wild card Franc defeat ALL of the eventual finalists. That can't have happened many times in GP. And not only defeat them..... but defeat them well!
  2. enjoyed that. Nice to see Chris doing something right for a change. exciting finish. do we have a link for tomorrows meeting? Looks like a cracker.
  3. Got to agree with Alan about the coverage and speedway in general. It's great to see these speedway venues and watch a match live there and echo my thanks for those who place the links here. I think most of us had the same thoughts about the start line girls but only he was brave enough to say it in case they had relatives on the forum The commentary is a bit laid back and I enjoy Pearson on Sky who shows some passion bordering on insanity but I guess Kanal will improve both the angles and commentary as it goes on. The start angle is not great as I would prefer 90 degree to face on but it's free so complaining is a bit rude.
  4. I would bet that ONE viewer was laughing his t#ts off at the first match. If not for Laguta's heroics they would not have made 30.
  5. It will be good to see the US back in the SWC proper. Doubt they will get to the semi final but you never know.
  6. I think it's a fair comment really. I know folks here go on about the good old days but it is true that the Brit 1st division used to field teams with 3 proper heat leaders, two second strings and a couple of reserves but today you are lucky to see 2 HL in a team and most teams are full of 2nd strings and reserve riders. Take Wolves they have 2 HL, 1 2nd string and 4 reserves maybe Ty might make a half decent 2nd string. Poole have 2 heat leaders, Coventry 2 but then you break HL down into those who are out and out #1 riders and most teams don't have one probably only Poole have 2 . Coventry are a team that don't have a #1 and Harris is a big fish in an incredibly weak league that is probably not even on the level of the Polish or Swedish Div 1. People like Kennet and Bridger are not what I would call heat leaders. Good 2nd strings. And that is the problem with our riders today. Harris shines in the laughably called English Elite League and gains an over inflated sense of his worth. His GP rostrum place assessment he had recently a testament to that. He is 2nd heat leader material at best and nowhere near #1 material. For me a #1 should average 9/10 points every match in a hard league and be capable of competing anywhere. Peter Collins was a #1 Chris Harris/Scott Nicholls/Tai Woffinden are not. But they are bulled up by Sky and many fans on boards like this and think they can compete on the world stage and they can't. Harris has had his moments but that does not make him a top rider. Egon Muller won a world title but could not compete in a league like BL1 here which was then the yardstick to the worth of a rider. Now it's Poland and Sweden the wheel has turned and our top riders are not cutting the mustard. Woffy today was poor and if he keeps that up he will be joining Harris and Richardson in the used spares bin. Scotty did the right thing and went for the Polish Div 1. He may gain some confidence and experience in a top league. EL racing is very good and the entertainment value high but it's a very weak league.. Today's Polish match was pretty dull. But their league is full of top class riders and guys like Harris can't compete. He is fine racing against 2nd strings in the EL but put him in a league like the Polish and Swedish set ups and he is no longer the big fish he thinks he is. It's sad as I would love to see Brit riders topping the world score charts week in week out but we are not good enough. We do not have ONE rider even potential world class at present. Woffy is someone who might well prove me wrong but at the moment he just does not have it. Harris is living off his worthy Cardiff triumph and seems to think he is a top class rider but his performance contradicts that. The Poles are growing tired of our riders not coming up to the standard they set their own youngsters like Zmarzlik and Dudek. Two riders who have the potential to go on to great things. We have Lewis Bridger. I think that says it all
  7. enjoyed that....look forward to the next one
  8. very nice stream and another nice little track. but weird format. Good to see Nicki in the Danish league. What are those strange figures behind the fence that seem to be crowded around in large groups? Never see anything like that at UK tracks
  9. Thanks for that. Makes it easier to follow what's going on "The number 4's race against each other 4 times!" Very strange format in Denmark. Do we know who the teams are for tonight?
  10. Does anyone have the format of Danish racing as it looks different to all the rest. 6 man teams over 15 heats?
  11. English humour I just saw someone so utterly useless and assumed it was Harris
  12. Dudek is a star whatever league he rides in. Pity he could not have had an English Granny. But best race was Rosen and AJ. AJ was lucky Rosen is inexperienced as the lad should have won. Why is Chris Harris riding at #1 for Piraterna?
  13. "Maybe all the aggro and hyped actions had something to do with the massive cans of Monster that were on free tap for the pits. I think if I'd drunk even a can I would have jumped on a bike myself!" Charlie Webster She could not have done any worse than Chris and might even have bettered his score.
  14. He is a famous Polish rock star who did a song with Gollob in the video preparing for and racing. It's on Youtube somewhere quite catchy but nothing I would call great. Heard a lot better rock bands in my time.
  15. It's a sad state of affairs if we don't have a rider in the top Euro leagues. I remember loads of Poles and Czechs coming here with poorish equipment and giving a good account of themselves and becoming popular against the odds. I used to love watching the late great Zdenek Kudrna who was a total trier every meeting. Ales Dryml senior was the same. Seen so many lads come here with bikes you could not give away giving a good account of themselves. We have a bloke who spends 20K on his bikes and I would not personally pay in washers most of the time. Scotty dropped down and that might be the making of him as he is a big fish in a little pond and may emerge again as someone to watch. Lee R was a disgrace yesterday. If I ran his team he would not be asked back to Poland again. Roman Jankowski could get back on a bike and do a better job than both Lee and Chris. People here used to moan about Polish and Czech timewasters so we can sympathise with Polish fans who have to pay money to watch our two.
  16. So true mate. I laughed at the yellow line down the pits. Here that would never happen as it would involve buying a tin of paint and that would be classed as a major improvement to the stadium. Most tracks here are held together by the paint and as you say a luxurious stand like that for a tenner as opposed to standing under a tin shed or worm infested bit of old wood for 16. No wonder people stay at home and watch it on TV. It's not all the promoters fault true but the simple and easy things could make the place look 100% better in a week if they were applied. It's not as if they are building a space shuttle. Yes saw that advertised. Hope we get it. Also hope the Swedish league is covered tomorrow.
  17. What a lovely stadium. And that photo shows it's a beautiful spot for a track as well. The new stand looks great and those pits are amazing. Was there a bar above it? Compare it with the rubbish tips we have here and it shows how far we have fallen in world speedway. Nothing great but nice to see people like Crumpy and Hampel riding league racing. Great to see these Polish kids given a chance in top flight racing as they certainly step up to the plate. Wish we had such a system.
  18. That's a surprise. I thought they were heckling Cris H. Hampel may be their darling but he has a long long way to go before he can even be fit to clean the boots of The Master. Maybe this will give someone else a chance at SWC.....but I don't hold out too much hope of that. They will kiss and make up. There is always a nearly man in world championship speedway. Leigh Adams a famous example. Maybe young Hampel will become the new one. Hope it's not Emil as I wanna see him win the damn thing. I would also love to see Chris Harris make the podium at the end of the season but he will be lucky if he makes the top 15.
  19. I wonder if the people who usually whine about how boring GPs are hung around long enough to see the final? Hell of a race to end a pretty entertaining GP. Congrats to Holder for doing something totally unexpected and winning such an awesome final race. The Polish fans can be forgiven as they expected a Polish 1 2 as did, I imagine, everyone watching. I think Emil wants to chuck his experimental engine in the bin. A Chris Harris surely has to have run out of any goodwill GP Pick wise as that is 2 on the trot that he has stunk out. Maybe he should follow Emil about and see where he chucks that engine as he has obviously wasted 20 grand on the ones he has. I would love to see him winning GPs but he is clearly not good enough sadly.
  20. Enjoyed that for what it was. Jakob Jamrog was MOM for me with that pressure victory in ht 7 after Hancock crapped out. And that Alex Loktaev is a very handy rider. Glad Chris Holder was OK he seemed a bit miffed at Pepe! Some really good young Poles in the EL ...Czaja another one .....pity we did not have a few English lads coming along like that.
  21. Sad part is there is no real way to judge Brit riders in terms of WTC. If we had a Young England set up (sorry Scotland and wales) and could pit youngsters like Mear, Cook etc against the likes of Poland/Denmark/Russia etc we might be able to see who was going to be worth giving chances to. But speedway here thinks Team GB or England as it used to be known is a one week pony. Riders doing well in a league is one thing but what if they do well in one league but are abject in another. Barker did himself proud last year but what has he done internationally? Auty seems to be doing well. I like Rob Mear. Do we go with the old guard? If so to what exact purpose? Giving youngsters a chance is one thing but they need more than a week at it. We have so few riders in foreign leagues whilst the Poles, Aussies, Danes, Russians, Swedes etc are everywhere. How do our young riders get the experience of riding internationally. We all know we will not even get into the finals of the SWC. If we manage the semi final we will be doing well. But what do we get out of this? And how does this affect our future performances. Until the BSPA take team GB seriously and try to educate and help the young riders who might one day become candidates for SWC by giving them all season long opportunities we will get nowhere. A position we reached when we lost Mark Loram and have been for years now.
  22. Where on Facebook? I would enjoy watching them again. Yes the camera work was not quite Sky and that blokes elbow annoyed me a bit but like the Swedish 2nd tier meetings gives you a sense of being in the stand which I liked. As racers and royals said it was not earth shattering but an interesting enough meeting with some good speedway.
  23. Back on topic again and directed at Iris... a question.... where would one find streams for Polish league one matches on Sundays as I enjoyed that league a lot and would not mind following it as well as Polish Extraleague? And to Alan..... yes indeed that hits a particular nail firmly on the head. Again the simplest of things. Most UK speedway stadiums are a disgrace in terms of facilities. But this has been discussed to death here by fans who show more insight into the sport than the idiots that run it here and still the common sense that comes from fans falls on deaf ears. They seem here to prefer oneupmanship to working together and over-complication of something so simple as four very brave lads (and the odd few lasses) riding in a circle for a minute or so. I have been to Brandon many times and seen a stadium packed to the very rafters. I find it sad when I see the place on TV nowadays looking so forlorn and empty. But of course the leagues back then never had cool names like we do today. I guess in the eyes of the BSPA that is somehow progress. It's a pity they have no idea how to sell a product with such cool names.
