  1. Like i said,i think the only person who can beat Nikolai is himself.Lars said to me in Inzell he thought he would be challenged by a couple of the Russians.I just couldn't see it.Looks like he could have the title all but wrapped up in Berlin. The Russians seem to have chosen the best riders for Inzell, although vitali is coming on strong now.Danil is looking good for the future, but Ivan has been struggling. Can Franky get that silver medal or will it all go to pot?
  2. And on inspeed it says Tuinstra has broken his collarbone
  3. Nikolai wins his 3rd GP.Franky was last in the A-Final Ufa day 1 results
  4. In an ideal world, yes i agree Bavarian.Speedway isn't part of that world.I can see riders maybe not bothering to go to Argentina because of the costs.Especially if they are standing in 7th place with no chance of getting on the rostrum with 1 meeting to go.What real incentive do they have?Plus if someone has the titlein the bag after 2 meetings they might not bother also.We know that some of the Longtrack riders were not too keen to travel down to NZ for the GP there.I look at the young Australian kids who travel over to Europe for the YGT meetings every year with the utmost respect for the financial sacrifice their family make......
  5. While Franky is looking at a possible title chance his two compatriots are in a totally different situation.Harald Simon is having bike trouble.3 bikes playing up in Inzell and Krasnogork.Plus Markus Skabraut is riding on Aakko's reserve bike!!!!! in Russia. He hasn't taken his equipment or transporter to Russia due to the costs. And it seems very likely he will give up Ice Racing after this season. He is finding it hard to get time off work and in the summer starts to build a house Austrian news
  6. Get in there Super result for Franky and i guess Günther has to be pleased if he was recovering from illness. But tomorrow is another day.Surprised at Tschajka though
  7. I agree....seems a crazy idea.it isn't as if most of the youngsters are rolling in money to make such a trip.plus will it be in the middle of the season?as the argentinian season is when ours finishes.
  8. Günther no-mates,as conkers has christened him flies out to Moscow on his way to the pre-GP practice tomorrow in Krasnogork having been ill with the flu this week.He says his aim is to finish in the top 8 and after his performance in Inzell he is optimistic.....will be interesting to see if Franky and Bauer can scare a few of the top Russians.I still as for the last few years can't see past Krasnikov for yet another title. The odd exclusion or fall might make it tight for him though Bauer on his way to Russia And just seen this.......an ice speedway movie(or at least dvd) starring among others our very own Mark Uzzell in his GB race jacket Looks well worth a look. Not sure if we have had this here before with my memory Icy Riders
  9. Surely there is no such thing as a respected journalist, pugwash? And is it true that the finnish swear word translates as "in the restaurant",f-s-p?
  10. I see that our north German rider marian Kreklau has retired from the sport.I heard in Inzell that after the German Championship he sold all his gear.Sadly it is true. M.Kreklau
  11. I wish you good luck Steve in finding a job.The scrapbooks look like the sort of thing that are worth more to you than to someone else imo though.Hope i am wrong or something comes up that means you don't have to sell
  12. Thanks Jesper. No more meetings planned for the Netherlands in this cold weather?
  13. Fotos from day 2 Inzell Must say i was very impressed with Sven Holstein and Günthers boy was really getting down low this time.I heard he was lapping at about 65kmh.Klabo nearly decked the race director when on the presentation he was told to ride clean or the ref would have him out.I heard he did have fisticuffs with someone later on.Stefan looked like he wanted to have a bit of argy-bargy after Klabo had him off 6100 on sat and 5500 on sunday
  14. Günther Bauer has some hard words for his German colleagues...... On yesterdays German Championship he states "It was the easiest Championship i have contested.Either i am so good or the others are so bad.It rode 2 hard laps and when i looked back there was either no-one there or just one rider coming out of the bend" Bauer speaks out And on the topic of the German team at Inzell,Günther says "It doesn't interest me who is alongside me in the team.I would be happier if i was alone in the team."He then goes on in both accounts to say the other German riders performances in the World Championship quali rounds leaves a lot to be desired. But they seem to think by getting a 7th place in a middling quality field in say Steingaden is super Bauer hits out
  15. Maybe you could update those old Roger Johns fans among us on just what he is up to nowadays then?
  16. Live updates also here in 20 mintues or so from Inzell German Championship
  17. Definitely a blow Any translation of this then? JT And any info on who takes his place?
  18. Yes Roger did ride for the Dons in 88 + 89.I didn't have the details on my computer.Just looked in my programmes and these are not official because there were still 3 meetings to ride in 88 But 1988 Wimbledon 26 (7.29) 1989 Wimbledon 30 (7.42)
  19. Here is Rogers record as far as i have: 1970 Eastbourne 1 (2) 1971 Eastbourne 34 (6,89) 1972 Eastbourne 37 (7,24) 1973 Eastbourne 32 (8,59) 1973 Oxford 7 (4,8) 1974 Canterbury 13 (6,93) 1974 Wimbledon 23 (5,45) 1975 Wimbledon 36 (4,4) 1976 Wimbledon 28 (3,91) 1977 Wimbledon 36 (5,46) 1978 Wimbledon 38 (7,82) 1979 Wimbledon 32 (7,89) 1980 Wimbledon 34 (8,22) 1981 Wimbledon 44 (6,94) 1982 Wimbledon 19 (5,37) 1983 Wimbledon 48 (5,18) 1984 Wimbledon 50 (5,69) 1985 Wimbledon 37 (9,64) 1986 Wimbledon 40 (9,25) 1987 Wimbledon 32 (9,02) Not 100% sure on the Ice racing.He was sponsored by Tee Mills i think,who were involved with Ice racing.
  20. Posa continues to amaze.I thought he might struggle this time, but he is right up there again with the Russians
  21. Disappointed in you mate.Where are the results from Russia????I was waiting for you to put them on here as i didn't have much time yesterday.Or should i say i couldn't be bothered But i can only add .....i did an online interview last season with Mark and he was extremely helpful. And having met him in person at Berlin last year he is just as nice in the flesh. As is his son,who was helping out Lukas Rösti(i think)the year before that.Plus i met him again this year in Denmark alongside Manuel Hauzinger.Had a great chat with both.I know Mark put out an offer to any youngsters who fancied taking up the sport that he would help them out in Sweden.Because that is what we really need is one or two guys or gals(why not?)a little bit younger than Mark and Graham to come on the scene.Fantastic performance from Sven Holstein yesterday.Pity we haven't got someone as mad as him coming through
  22. Blimey. Those two are in the wars a bit.I didn't think riders were allowed to ride so soon after losing conciousness??? But shows how tough these guys are. And you have to be careful of the wild animals in the East.We have Wolves and Wild Pigs in the east of Germany. And now the start of a Raccoon Dog invasion from the east as well Raccoon Dog
  23. A new track in Germany held a meeting yesterday.Bauer didn't like the state of the ice and pulled out after practice. Kirchberg am Wald taken from inspeed.de 1.Simon 12p 2.Niedermaier 11p 3.Zmaga 10p 4.Joh.Weber 7p 5.Stellingwerf 7p 6.Kreuzberger 7p 7.Kirchner 7p 8.Gartmann 4p 9.Ebner 4p 10.Fürst 1p 11.Tschatschin 0p Also Bauer and Pletschacher have hit out at the FIM for seeding a Pole and a Dutch rider through to the entire GP series rather than their home meetings.Obviously Pletschacher has a real struggle to get through as it is most likely that in Sanok no Pole will qualify automatically and the Dutch seem to be going the same way.Which will mean 2 riders who should have gone through making way for a rider who maybe finished 14th or so in their quali round Bauer Pletschacher
  24. Good to see that the Russians have been sent to Vojens.Hopefully this time Emil will ride
  25. Tucker Time for Pets A snappy name that tells it like it is
