  1. At the end of the day it's who wins the play-offs that matters as both teams have qualified.
  2. The Witches have a great chance to win now that the Rebels have lost their top two and will probably have a passenger at reserve. The Rebels management should reduce the admission prices for this one as top riders are missing from both teams.
  3. Makes Monday's top of the table clash a bit of a farce!
  4. Looks like a Monday fixture now after looking at the weather forecast. Will make a farce if Doyle, Morris and Barker are replaced by guests or R/R in a fixture that could potentially lead to finishing top of the league and the bragging rights etc.
  5. Unfortunately weather not good for Friday so probably a rain off. Maybe a double header with Ipswich or Edinburgh in the next two weeks or better still just give the three points to the Rebels as the result is a forgone conclusion anyway.
  6. Cracking meeting with Rebels getting a reasonable lead to defend for the second leg thanks to a last heat 5-1. Could have been more as all the refereeing decisions went against the Rebels. (Maybe the ref was wearing a kilt!). Astonished at the rider changes especially Stefan. He is a trier and has upped his average significantly. However both Stefan and Simon had a dismal recent northern tour. Doyley also said last night he wanted to see more away scoring from reserve. Still cannot believe that Charles Wright or Lewis Rose are going to be any better. A ruthless decision which I hope will work. At least both newcomers should do better than Stefan/Simon at Edinburgh on Friday.
  7. Lets hope Somerset book Hougaard before the Witches do!
  8. I think the Witches are probably the best opposition we have had down the OTA for several weeks so could be a close match.
  9. Left it late but great win. Our big guns turned over Screeny in the last heat!
  10. Berwick have a solid look about them so all the Rebels will need to be firing to win this one.
  11. Disappointing to get nothing but with three passengers not surprising. Still 2 more matches this weekend to get some points and virtually clinch out top six spot.
  12. On paper should be a comfortable win for the Rebels. However it would be nice to see Jorgensen, Roynon and Wells make a match of it as they all go well round the OTA. Could be a chance for Lambo to shine against his old team and get a few points from reserve to boost his confidence for the upcoming northern tour.
  13. Too many if's and but's with the Devils side to trouble the Rebels they seem to change their lineup every 5 minutes. This is probably the best opportunity for the Rebels to win home and away as they are on fire at the moment and the Devils have an unsettled lineup and are very inconsistent. Just need to finish in the top six to qualify for play offs. So sixth place will do and then the real business starts.
  14. Rebels continued where they left off with Redcar and murdered the Comets. All the Rebels again firing on all cylinders. I was completely surprised by how poor the Comets were. I thought the announcer said they were the league leaders but the Rebels made them look like a national league team only Kyle Howarth was prepared to mix it. Next bring on the Devils!
  15. Some good racing and a close start then the Bears fell away badly. Well done the Rebels who were firing on all cylinders. Can't believe some of the poor performances from the Bears. Ostergaard was a pale shadow of his former self, Micky Dyer was dire and after a surprise heat 1 win Kus didn't seem to want to mix it anymore. I was expecting Wilkinson to get a double figure score from the reserve berth but even he was very poor. Shame really but just shows the Rebels were rampant.
  16. Good Luck to Simon Lambert tonight making his debut for the Rebels. I think this is an shrewd signing by the management. Simon has a proven liking for the OTA and is an experienced reserve. If he gets his mind right he could prove to be a trump card riding at reserve.
  17. Can't deny we had a bit of luck but that's speedway. Not surprisingly the worky team manager scratched his head after heat 14. He knew the Rebels had choice of gate positions in the final heat and the Rebels big guns did the job. Can't agree with the Comets management that this was a mammoth task for them to get through. Rebels had both normal reserves injured plus both Newman and Davies were tentative coming back from injury. So they had a good chance and they blew it. Anyway nice to see a gripping cup tie with a surprise ending!
  18. I agree its clever management and Alistair wrote the match report. He also wrote the report for Newcastle when they put up a miserable performance at the OTA on Friday.
  19. Only one word describes this shambles 'UNBELIEVABLE' I'm afraid it's a sad day for Somerset Speedway. Why wasn't the track prepared professionally before the start of the meeting? There had been no sign of rain for the whole day. I must admit after blading the track looked raceable and was shocked when it was called off. Obviously something was going on between the ref, riders and management. The BSPA should step in and award the tie to Workington for this shambles. Not even an apology from the Somerset Promotion thats how they treat their supporters! Glad to see Stefan get up after his horrific tumble in heat 2. Enough said I should have stayed at home and watched 'Eastenders'!
  20. Looks like the weather is changing for the worse on Tuesday. If it goes ahead should be all three points to the Rebels.
  21. Sounds like the Rockets misfired big time tonight. The Devils are on the up so wouldn't be surprised if they won at Rye House again tomoro night!
  22. Probably a meeting to avoid. With 2 R/R's and Sheffield fielding a weak side I can only see the Rebels hitting 60 points again.
  23. A shrewd move would be to sign Matthew Wethers who needs to re-ignite his career and he loves riding the OTA. A steal on 5.66!
  24. I predict 1. Jason Doyle 2. Alex Davies 3. Nick Morris 4. Kyle Newman 5. Robin Aspregren 6. Todd Kurtz 7. Tom Perry 42.48 A well balanced team with no weak links...
  25. The team put together has a lot of potential but is seriously lacking in 'big hitters'. Only Allen can fit the bill and the rest are currently second strings with maybe Mellgren stepping up to a 7/7.5 average.
