  1. Yes I remember these riders very well although a number were based up here during part or all of their term with Monarchs. We would have paid them what was required to sign them as Glasgow do. I made this point regarding Glasgow and wasn’t criticising them. It was an observation.
  2. Because this is a discussion forum
  3. Not sure why Glasgow fans get so defensive about the wages situation. Circumstantial evidence relating to the number of south of England based riders, especially promising up and coming ones, who have ridden for Tigers over the last few years would certainly suggest that it’s not only because they have a super duper track and stadium (as Messrs Brown and Lanning remind us every week in Speedway Star). Tigers are entitled to sign whoever they want within the rules, or even exploiting them to the limit, at whatever budget they think fit. No point in denying it. The upgrade to Ashfield is evidence that the owners are willing to allocate a large budget to the speedway side of their business.
  4. No, but they’re subsidised by a multimillion nationwide company and circumstantial evidence (level of attendances, hoovering up UK up emerging talent as opposed to riders past their peak etc) would indicate that funds are diverted from there to the speedway operation. As stated it’s their business as to how they run it and they’re not committing any crime so good luck to them. Also their redevelopment of the stadium is admirable. However they seem to relish being big fish in a small pond it what has been termed a “ten pound sport” and as such this is upsetting the overall balance of the competition. Their status would determine that they should be in the Premiership. Why have they never applied for this .?
  5. There’s a difference though. Poole have to make a profit or the Ford family doesn’t eat. Glasgow are virtually a loss making subsidiary of a multi million pound company.
  6. Was just stating that the Harris scenario compared to what showmen promoters would set up in the old days. No offence or insinuation intended. This fixture seems to attract some touchy posts.
  7. Aye, Old Johnnie Hoskins used to stage these dramas in the good old days, well before my time.
  8. Run it on Remembrance Day 11 November and rename it the Lest We Forget trophy.
  9. Would cost a fortune in air fares though.
  10. Neither is compassion going by the odd walloper on this thread. Mental health shouldn’t be treated as a joke on this website.
  11. Well tell us why he isn’t riding then. Come on, tell us we’re all waiting.
  12. As great as that she awarded £30,000 to Glasgow Speedway to get through Covid ?
  13. You mean Prescott was a politician who had a real job before entering politics as opposed to the the useless arrogant posh boys who use their sense of entitlement to blag their way through Eton, while fornicating with pigs, prior to landing a cushy number as a party advisor.
  14. Brilliant to see a rider not having his head turned by the financial riches of the Premier League in GB. Good for him going to one of the lower league teams in his pursuit of happiness rather than money.
