  1. Anyone know whether their track has been given the ok yet? And if so, have/will the riders be getting some practice in before the first home meeting?
  2. The state of our Speedway has somewhat reflected the state of the whole country... Our Speedway used to be up there with the best... the envy of many... a magnet for the worlds top riders... but now...??? We used to have a strong, upstanding country... powerful leaders respected and admired throughout the world... an army, navy and air force that struck fear around the globe... but now...???
  3. Best News I've heard since it was reported that Spurs are in talks with a possible new manager called Adolf!!!! You couldn't make it up....
  4. Another strange contradiction where Speedway is concerned... They're happy to ask for volunteers for menial things like track raking, stadium maintenance... etc... But when it comes to things that could actually have a positive influence on their business... advertising... marketing... promotions... they don't want to take advantage of the great wealth of knowledge that could be at their fingertips... Very odd...
  5. Wouldn't be the worst idea for someone at Northampton Speedway to have a word with Karlito and see if he can help with spreading the word... I'm sure that the vast majority of posters on here are fully behind the venture at Northampton and hope it will go on to be a great success... Any perceived negativity is purely down to the fact that they don't seem to be giving themselves the best chance of succeeding... As Karlito says... it doesn't take a lot to get the interest started... and once it starts momentum can build... The total lack of news can only lead to many of us thinking that there are big problems that still need to be resolved and could be putting the whole thing at risk of ever happening...
  6. I would think virtually all riders... certainly the decent ones... have got their teams sorted by now... So if Northampton aren't exactly scraping the bottom of the barrel... they must be getting pretty near the bottom if they are still looking for riders...
  7. 25 days to what is programmed as their first meeting at Kings Lynn and still nothing... No team name... no team colours and therefore (I assume) no kevlars... no-one in charge... no team manager... no riders... no advertising... no promotion... and therefore as a consequence... NO FANS... Just waiting for the "We tried our best but..." excuses...
  8. With the way things are going they are probably going to be one of the weaker teams anyway... just what a new club needs to get the fans flocking in their thousands...!!! If they are then also told that they can't have a proper facility for one of their chosen riders that really would put the lid on it... Surely this should be a case of the famous... "In the best interests of the Sport"... rule... and this would be one of the more reasonable applications of it...
  9. Here's a plan... Let's run a thrilling, exciting, adrenaline pumping sport and get as many teams as possible to participate... Then... let's keep it a secret and not tell anyone anything about it... What could possibly go wrong...? Anyone remember the film... Brewster's Millions...?
  10. You would have thought that an exciting new venture... a new track for our "action packed" sport... would be something to be shouted from the rooftops... brought to the attention of all and sundry... but instead it's a well guarded secret that's being kept under wraps for some reason... Makes no sense... unless perhaps there are still problems that need to be resolved before they can officially say that they are actually running...
  11. I'm sure that as long as they let us know what's happening a few days before that first fixture, the masses will drop everything... change all their plans... and head straight to Northampton...
  12. Was seriously considering making a visit to Northampton this season... Maybe I'll put as much effort into going as they're putting into encouraging me to go...!!!! Following the switch from White City... I used to make a 170 mile round trip every week to follow and support Eastbourne... But my enthusiasm is rapidly approaching zero thanks to the numpties who now run our once great sport...
  13. Publicity... who needs it...!!!!
