  1. Of course it's their prerogative to do whatever they want... they can keep the whole thing a secret for ever if they choose... I would just have thought that they'd want to give themselves the best chance to make a decent go of it and I don't think leaving it all till the last minute is the way to do it... Just my opinion...
  2. Speedway really is incredible... You'd think they'd want to get as much information out there as soon as possible to try to generate a bit of local interest... Instead it's... We have a brand new exciting venture for you to follow... We won't tell you whose in charge... We won't tell you whose running the team... We won't tell you whose riding for the team... Roll Up... Roll Up...
  3. This was my first thought... surely they must have insurance in place and not need the long suffering fans to once again dig into their pockets... And what about CCTV?... Are they trying to identify the culprits?
  4. Just found a few cable tv channels... That's TV... That's TV 2 and That's TV 3... which play quite regular shows most mornings and evenings of music from the 60's and 70's... including 2 or 3 songs by The Love Affair... I think that on Sky they are channels 171, 181 and 183 Great stuff....!!!!
  5. Tracks gone astray... leaving hurt when they go... Another old fave of mine of a similar vintage... R.Dean Taylor... Indiana Wants Me... There's a Ghost in my House... Gotta See Jane... etc etc... Remember him?
  6. A great song... along with another classic of theirs... "Everlasting Love" They don't make 'em like that anymore... and haven't for a long long time...!
  7. Which do we think it's gonna be...? "Those Were The Days".... Mary Hopkin or... "Bringing On Back The Good Times".... Love Affair I think I know which one I'd be backing...!!!!
  8. Might be on to something here Dean... "The Masked Speedway Rider"... Can you guess who it is based on riding style...? Could be a winner!!!!
  9. Looking at your Site Name... and going back to Elton... with a bit of help from Kiki on this one... "Don't Go Breaking the Tapes"....
  10. The Witch is Back... maybe... perhaps... one day.... "I'm a Witch, I'm a Witch and I'm better than you".... or at least I was last year....
  11. I'd say that the only thing to predict at the moment is... Will there actually be a Premier League... And if so will it contain 4,5 or 6 teams... The silence is deafening... and the contempt with which the supporters are dealt is off the charts...
  12. I'm based in West London and in my time I've followed Wembley, Wimbledon, Hackney, White City, Eastbourne, Rye House, Lakeside and Oxford... I think it's about a 60 mile drive for me to get to Northampton, so I might give them a visit or two if it ever get's off the ground...
  13. The Cure don't care if Monday's blue... 'cos on Friday they're In Love...!!!
  14. On the Oxford website it says that the Spires won't be continuing due to... exciting developments in British Speedway... To me, that suggests that next season there will only be one major league... the right way to go in my opinion...
  15. If Oxford (Cheetahs) had been at all serious about this season they should have gone all out to bring Nicholls in when he became available... In the two top leagues they've been doing little more than going through the motions over the last few weeks just to get their fixtures completed. Now hearing that The Spires won't be around after this year, I really hope that they can put out one decent competitive team in which ever of the top two leagues (if there are still two top leagues) they compete in. After a really encouraging first season back, this season has been a bit of a damp squib and has really just fizzled out...
  16. If Kurtz and/or Bewley are on a payment guarantee, they should be too ashamed to accept it for last night... they certainly didn't earn it...
  17. I can still see this being pretty close... If you match the top 5's up... Doyle v Kurtz Emil v Bewley Brennan v Lidsey King v Cook Thompson v Blodorn I reckon there could be no more than a 2 to 4 points difference... probably just in favour of Ipswich The big issue for Belle Vue could well be at reserve where I can see the Witches pair out scoring the Aces duo by at least 8 points... Really looking forward to it and hope that the relatively kind weather forecast turns out to be accurate...
  18. Their final answers might have been the same... But their workings out were totally different...!!!!
  19. Yesterday it wasn't raining and according to the forecast the probability of rain in the evening was 30% to 50%... and it turned out to be 0% until around 9 o'clock... Today it is raining and according to the forecast the probability of rain in the evening is 70% to 90%... Spot the difference....
  20. So Poole end up with the 2nd leg at home... well knock me down with a feather...
  21. If the real Kurtz and Bewley turn up on Thursday it could still be close... if they can get 24 between them the other 5 only need 19... which could be done if either Cook or Lidsey can have a night out... And if that happens... All down to Danny King in heat 8 last night... should hang his head in shame... and let's not forget that this is the second time he's done it... Brennan and Doyle certainly showed him up big time in the following heats showing real heart and bottle in what looked on paper like tough ones for Ipswich...
  22. I pretty much agree... To keep it competitive I'd say Ipswich need... 9 or 10 from their reserves 18 or 19 from Emil & Doyle 11 or 12 from Brennan/King/Thompson I reckon a total of 39 or 40 should lead to a terrific 2nd leg...
  23. The recent Oxford meeting for one.... some very strange goings on...
