  1. I reckon both Malcolm Simmons, Dave Jessup and Les Collins were ahead of him too.
  2. This just confirms what I am thinking. How can they say that this is the TRUE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP when possibly some of the very best don't appear because of money. It beggars belief. They should either make the GP's pay good money to the Riders AND make the Championship worth riding in.
  3. Yes - they ARE running a business. But the fact is that for the last two years we have had World Champions over forty years of age. Where are the young Riders coming through - particularly young BRITISH Riders - (don't mention D'arcy Ward, he is toying with the idea of staying out of the GP Series so he can ride in Poland. Obviously it is more lucrative for him to do that than compete in the GP's) I would like to see IMG INVESTING in the future of their product and ploughing money in to Training of young Riders (not just British). IF they have the welfare of the Sport at heart they should be doing something like this - NOT just creaming off the Cash from the BIG Events. IMG are NOT in the GP Series for nothing - I don't think they are a benevolent Organisation - I don't think they are good for Speedway.
  4. I think IMG have been a disaster for Speedway. I always thought the F.I.M, A.C.U. and over here the S.C.B. and the B.S.P.A. ran Speedway - not any more they don't. How much/little actual money from IMG's involvement goes back in to the Sport itself?? Do the Riders get a good financial return from being on the GP Circuit - I just wonder after reading some Riders saying that they can't afford to be in it. What sort of a World Championship is that??
  5. I seem to remember a Post saying exactly that twelve months ago.
  6. Ah - but - will he ride in the GP's next Season?? Has Ward not already stated that he would prefer to ride in Poland and could be affected by the one GP Rider per Team Rule there. 100% agree with that statement too.
  7. The 'nominations' are about as expected as far as I can see. I don't agree with 'nominations'.
  8. OH YES IT WAS!!!!! Well - it IS becoming a bit of a Pantomime on this Thread.
  9. Speedway really is a GREAT Sport. People always so friendly and helpful. That has been MOSTLY my experience over forty seven years of watching it. :approve:
  10. Well - I regard Johnnie Hoskins as the 'Father' of Speedway. Always have - and - always will. :approve:
  11. It wasn't the 'S' or the 'Z' I was talking about (The OED acknowledges both). It was the fact that "bowlderisation" is NOT correct it should be bowdleris/zation. I may be being a tad pedantic - but - a word like that deserves the correct spelling. Sorry.
  12. At least he can - and does - PASS. As I stated earlier - I hope Rune gets back in the GP's. He is very good to watch and THAT must be worth something.
  13. I would still have a word with Len. I am sure he would sort this out for you.
  14. I'm pretty sure that they cannot get out of someone using this Ticket as long as the qualifications (age) are met. I would certainly have a word with Len Silver regarding this Shadders and if you get no joy - then Trading Standards it is. Perhaps someone 'on the Gate' has made a mistake - it happens.
  15. He was a super Rider when he came to England in 1964 with Gordon Guasco to ride for the ill fated Sunderland 'Saints'. :approve: Finished the 1964 Season with Wolverhampton. He went on to great things at Sheffield.
  16. Greg deserves all the superlatives and plaudits that he is getting on this Thread. It is GREAT to see him as World Champion again. I always hoped this would happen - but - was always wondering what would go wrong. Thankfully nothing did. :approve: CONGRATULATIONS!!! Greg. You are now one of the true legends of our Sport, and such a nice bloke too :approve: Good luck for the future and dare we hope for a repeat in 2012. GO GREG!!!!!
  17. Difficult choice. Speedway MUST win though - in the end. :approve:
  18. I was under a misapprehension. I apologise to everyone, particularly to Diesel and Blazeaway. Thank you for your information HenryW.
  19. I would argue that Nigel Boocock was at least as good as Eric. Les Collins finished second in a World Final - that's why I put him above those you have mentioned.
