  1. Glad to hear Tom's not broken anything. Does that mean he'll be ok for next week?
  2. His last PL average was 5.10. So would that be doubled or use an ancient CL average?
  3. Is Micky Dyer an option? I know he's an aussie but does he fit into dual-nationality so he can do NL?
  4. Stoke's is currently when Proctor was in the PL, yet they're in the NL now
  5. A texter has been found and updates will be from here
  6. Still looking for a texter, anyone... Thanks
  7. Is anyone able to text scores from the Belle Vue-IOW meeting on Wednesday to the updates site. I'm happy to keep you informed of the pairs event (which btw I think is daft them being on the same day). If so can you please pm me here or on the updates site thanks
  8. Wightlink Islanders second meeting of the season takes place at the Wave 105 Smallbrook Stadium on Tuesday evening against a Birmingham Bulls side managed by Great Britain Under-21 boss Phil Morris, Gates open at 6.00pm - Parade at 7.20pm first race at 7:30pm. Following the Islanders success last Tuesday in their opening fixture against Sittingbourne with a solid team performance winning 57-39 expectations are high for more of the same before the Islanders first National league fixture away in Manchester the following day against Belle Vue Colts who have come into the National league this year. The Bulls opened their season almost three weeks ago against the USA Touring Team coming out on top 60-35. Stoke Potters Tim Webster top scored that night with 13+1 while current Islanders Brendan Johnson 4+1 and Paul Starke 13 featured for the Bulls that night. The rest of the Bulls side on Tuesday consist of Webster's Potters team mate Jamie Pickard, Aaron Baseby returns for the second week in a row after signing for Mildenhall Fen Tigers, joining him are two of his new teammates Daniel Halsey and Jack Hargreaves who makes a return to the sport after a break. From Hackney Hawks Morris brings in Shane Hazelden and completing the side is Luke Priest who comes in from last year's champions Buxton Hitmen. Looking ahead to Wednesday, the Colts promotion have put together a strong team who ran out 60-31 winners in their opening home fixture against Sheffield Prowlers. Star of the show was teenager Jason Garrity who proved why he is one of the hottest properties in speedway after posting a 15 point maximum. The Colts have been inactive since that opening fixture a month ago, several of the Colts riders have been taking on guest bookings so the Islanders will face a tough fixture against the likes of Garrity, Byron Bekker, Adam McKinna, Scott Richardson, Kyle Howarth, Chris Widman and Karl Mason. Meanwhile the Islanders take a break from team action the following week [Tuesday 3rd May] when Smallbrook hosts the 'New Holmwood Cup.' Promoter Chris Hunt said; "The New Holmwood Cup will be a best Pairs event, we are hopeful of a good field which we are putting together with good entertainment on track." Promoter Kevin Shepherd added; "We'll be looking for more of the same from the lads, another couple of solid performances will help us see off the Bulls and get a good result in Manchester to get the Islanders some points on the board." Hunt and Shepherd were particularly pleased with the returns from Lee Smethills who top scored with 13 points and reserve John Resch who weighed in with 9+5 with some very intelligent riding against Sittingbourne. Boding well for the season there were good solid points returns from Paul Starke 8, Rob Smith 7+2 and Brendan Johnson 7+3 with skipper Nick Simmons notching 11+1. The only downside was Tom Hill who was restricted to a second place in his first ride before blowing his engine and bending his forks and diamond in his second ride, he played no further part in the meeting. Hunt added; "Tom [Hill] was unlucky, hopefully as he has ridden plenty of laps at Belle Vue his luck will change this week, Nick [simmons] and Lee [smethills] both have good track knowledge of the Kirkmanshulme Lane track and should be able to help out the rest of the team." Tuesday Team line ups: WIGHTLINK ISLANDERS 1 Paul Starke 2 Rob Smith 3 Lee Smethills 4 Brendan Johnson 5 Nick Simmons © 6 Tom Hill 7 John Resch Team managers: Chris Hunt and Kevin Shepherd BIRMINGHAM BULLS 1 Jack Hargreaves 2 Luke Priest 3 Tim Webster 4 Shane Hazelden 5 Daniel Halsey 6 Aaron Baseby 7 Jamie Pickard Team manager: Phil Morris REFEREE: Christina Turnbull Wednesdays Team line ups: (The Islanders remain as above) BELLE VUE COLTS 1 Byron Bekker © 2 Scott Richardson 3 Kyle Howarth 4 Karl Mason 5 Adam McKinna 6 Chris Widman 7 Jason Garrity from here Good luck to the Islanders in these 2. The Bulls definitely look stronger than Sittingbourne last week, and I doubt Belle Vue will lose at home all season
  9. Has anybody got any links for live scores of the qualifier today?? Btw good luck to the 'Italians', i'd love to see Covatti at King's Lynn
  10. Live scores updates for this meeting can be found by clicking here
  11. Thanks for your reply. Surely one of the points of having averages changing during the season is so that someone who is struggling for whatever reason can drop down to reserve for a month to get a confidence booster. I know sometimes that seriously strengthens a side without them even having made a change, but at the end of the day that rider must have been doing something wrong (not neccesarily his own fault though) for him to end up at reserve anyway. I just can't see what was wrong with last year's system?? Yet again promoters seemed to have changed the rules for 'changing the rules sake'.
  12. Do you know if this applies to the National League as well?? I must admit this does seem rather stupid. What was wrong with the current system? As someone could have a great year this year but just because they struggled last year, maybe with injuries, they will get to stay at reserve longer (Adam Roynon, Lewis Bridger...).
  13. Is anyone able to text scores from this meeting? If you can, could you please PM me either here or on the speedway updates site. Thanks ... And good luck to the Hawks on their return
  14. Has anyone been to the P & P and know the team then??
  15. Here's my guess (assuming they will be sticking to the 40 limit like the NL & Brummies) : 1. Jerran Hart 9.04 2. Dean Felton 5.01 3. ?? 6.06 4. Mark Baseby 6.93 5. Harland Cook 6.15 (not heard anything about him for a year ot=r 2 tho) 6. Rikki Mullins 3.00 7. Aaron Baseby 3.81
  16. From what I can remember from last year: Firstly once riders get a new average then they are issued every month. There was a cut-off point for meetings last year, I don't think it was 6 & 6, but I don't think it was 3 & 3 either, might have been 4 & 4.
  17. I posted in the U-21 section earlier, but I shall here too seeing as you 2 mentioned it. Anyone able to text from Stoke tomorrow (Sat) please PM me here or on the updates site (the name is minus the 15) Thanks
  18. Using your link I got to this page here which is for sportsmen and doesn't specify age. But will Heeps 'make a significant contribution to the development of their sport'?
  19. I've just noticed IOW start with a challenge against Sittingbourne. From the press release: 'Meanwhile the Islanders opening meeting will be on Tuesday 19th April, a challenge fixture against a Sittingbourne Crusaders side'. I haven't really been keeping tabs on the Crusaders' situation, so.... Any idea on a team? Is there a viable promoter waiting in the wings? And how likely is it for 2012??
  20. Just to add a bit more spice to the above 'argument' it's officially Sheffield to race tomorrow as BV are at Owlerton in a double-header with IOW later on in the season. Anyway as a fan of neither Scunny or Sheffield I can certainly sympathise with what June & Leoni has said (especially with 6 of the 7 being Saints) but if it financially keeps a NL side running, and develops some quality riders then surely that is the most important?
  21. They're now on the BSPA site click here
  22. Some comprehensive work there Mike ^^^ Anyway yet again it seems to me that NL fans have to wait, and wait when PL & EL fans knew several weeks ago. The whole 'we're delaying the AGM because we don't know whether Cov/Boro will be in' excuse can't even be used now, and seeing as the EL fixtures came out a few weeks ago, yet there still seems to be the possibility of them returning, dicredits that excuse when it was used earlier this winter. When it comes out in official channels that Thursday will be the realease date, then Thursday should be the release date! I'm just hoping that they're only one day late *ignores the fact they were supposed to be out weeks ago*
  23. Good luck to Klaus, I must admit that I was sur[rised that no Pl teams picked him up. A rider with EL experience on a relatively low average the same as Lubos Tomicek, but lets hope the tour reminds someone of his undoubted potential. Good luck to the whole team as well. Hopefully they'll be as successful as last year
  24. I didn't mean to offend I just didn't understand him. Cinekracingteam - Sorry if I offended you and as I now understand you, the fixtures were supposed to be out a week or two ago, but they weren't and it seems that no-one really knows when they will be out. But it shouldn't be too long
