Yes I left a 0 off by mistake so its £24,000 plus over a £1,000 for programmes. Is anybody really serious that over £25,000 a meeting is not enough to run a put together on the cheap Witches team??? So in others opinions all that £36,000 went back into running the Witches Why just quote 2 riders in the elite league when there are numerous stars and several gp riders??? Lets just be realistic here, the premier league is full of wannabees who never will and riders who cant make the grade at the higher level. So its inferior to the elite league which has numerous star riders. That was proved by the 16 lapper at foxhall when a very average elite league rider won it. Say no more

Spot on Wanna my sentiments exactly

Fair enough we are all entitled to our opinions even if others dont agree, thats democracy for you. But just think on 1,500 x £16 = £2,400 and £2.50 for programmes on top of the huge gates at Easter and Bank Holiday Monday. Thats alot of dosh when only tracking one heatleader (Nicholls) who by his own words did not ask for much to ride for Witches (16 lapper). Me thinks just perhaps alot of that 36k never made its way back in to helping the Witches stay in the elite league with a competitive team. So hence the drop of a league to premier and its lesser quality riders, not like the elite league stars who so graced foxhall for nearly 40 years.
-
Surely the average gates of 1,500 - 2,000 would have been enough to pay all the bills, after all every team was put together on the cheap for the last 10 years of elite league participation, so no great cost there.
-
As alot of talk on this site is about money, could I just throw another question into the fray. What??? has happened to the £36,000 paid by Coventry to Ipswich for Scott Nicholls ???
-
The crowds were up at the start of the season due to the novelty of going premier and new teams. But after about half the season the crowds dropped alarmingly to new lows and ended up the worst gates I had seen at foxhall for many a year. Seeing the same teams again was not appealing at all and became mostly boring walk-overs. No premier as gates were concerned, was not a success at all.
-
If life was only that simple, remember this past season nearly everyone was predicting the Witches would walk the league (not me I must add) but look what happened they struggled to finish 3rd. So even if all the riders that are being quoted that MIGHT sign are actually signed, there will be no prediction from me that they will win the league. Anything can happen and probably will, so please no predictions lets just wait and see

Thanks alot for that info

Why not??? Its a speedway site and thats a speedway question, stop being so picky and chill out soon be xmas
-
I have no idea so Im asking anybody whos willing to reply, is there any Brighton Bonanza this year. Also next year any indoor ice speedway in the UK and if there is, on what date? Thanks
-
Yes its 8.36 available with your team suggested, who would you suggest as Witches new No1 ? Personally I would plump for Sam (lost control of my fingers ) Masters who I have a great regard for.
-
Baldyman please explain "when we move back up" ??? Do you honestly think the Louis after dropping down will EVER move up again into the elite league? My perception of this is NEVER!!!
-
Well totally wrong Mildenhall did overcome the 29 points deficit only to throw it away in the last 3 heats. What a super performance from the tigers they should all feel proud of their efforts. A bumper crowd enjoyed the sunshine and the super presentation on a well prepared track now with an air fence. Well done to Scunthorpe but didnt we give you a shock
-
Being a realist like always I dont think Mildenhall have much chance of turning around an enormous 29pts defeat from the first leg. But never mind its been a great season back in speedway and they have won the kocup so a very successful one. Cant wait for next season for some more super action from the tigers. Tigers to win this meeting but very close.
-
Congratulations to Scunthorpe for doing a demolition job on Mildenhall. What a shame Mildenhall crumbled at the last hurdle because being 29 points down after the first leg is in my opinion unsurmountable. Never mind you have to be in it to win it and they were, so not all doom and gloom. Anyway I shall be at Mildenhall Sunday shouting the lads on and you never know - miracles can happen. Just a word about another superb performance from young 15 year old Cameron Heeps, what a superstar in the making he is - fantastic.

Mildenhall V Stoke - Ko Cup Final 1st Leg
aljack replied to PhilK's topic in National League Speedway
What a great meeting this will be between the 2 best teams in the national league. The 3 promoters have done a wonderful job in resurrecting some super speedway back to the faithful Tigers fans this season. This has been one of the best seasons for years for excitement and together with a great stadium and track, it bodes very well for the future. Think this meeting will be fairly close with Mildemhall winning by 6 - 10 points but will that be enough to win over 2 legs? Great to have Cameron back and he will surely at no1 be the top scorer yet again, what a talent this young lad is. -
Yes not knowing what the limit will be is a pain as its always changing god knows why. But surely impartialone theres no reason not to speculate on the Witches team for 2012, its interesting to see others views on a team capable of perhaps winning some silverware for the first time for 14 long years. Personally it will suit me if nearly all are Australians and I think most will be
-
Definitely Taylor Poole he would be first on my list for a place along with Masters, Morris, Heeps and reluctantly Doolan and Risager as they are Witches assets and will obviously be in the team for 2012. That leaves one and why not another up and coming Aussie, any suggestions not sure what average that leaves.
-
It would be foolish to go for those 3 next season and one will have to in the team, that in my opinion will make the Witches too weak. Its very obvious that Witches need 2 very good reserves and that certainly was not the case this season especially away from home. Heeps at reserve will prove to be awesome and he needs a good partner and as suggested elsewhere on this site, another up and coming Aussie in Turngate could well be the answer. These will only be 3 point riders so only 6 points taken up, so leaving a massive 36.50 I believe for the other 5. So no, of those 3 only Heeps in my opinion is worth a place next season.
-
Lets all just be happy that Mildenhall have reached the kocup final against Stoke, whenever the meetings take place. They promise to be 2 wonderful meetings between 2 very good teams and Im really looking forward to both legs. All round this has been a great season for Mildenhall and great credit must go to the 3 promoters and thats why the gates are on the up all the time
-
My possible team team for 2012 is as follows - 1. DOOLAN 2. POOLE 3. RISAGER 4. MORRIS 5. MASTERS 6. HEEPS 7. YOUNG UP AND COMING AUSSIE A team of 6 Aussies plus Risager cant be bad for honours
-
How about a team of Australians - 1 DOOLAN 2 POOLE 3 SMITH 4 SEDGEMAN 5 MASTERS 6 MORRIS 7 HEEPS
-
How come you have not got the future super heatleader you mentioned before, Hart in your team Topinka is too old and way past his sell by date. Schramm very nice bloke but will never improve. McGowan like Risager has lost all confidence and is a huge risk. Blackbird has made great strides this season and I have watched his progress at Mildenhall many times but it will benefit him to stay at Mildenhall for one more season. Doolan simply now is no longer a no1 and has let Witches down on numerous occasions esp heats 13 and 15. So I agree with 2 riders you mention Poole and Heeps
-
Well this is early to be talking about riders for next season but as I see it some are definite starters and these are - Kevin Doolan, Morten Risager, Taylor Poole and Cameron Heeps (and perhaps Lewis Blackbird and Chris Schramm). So that leaves only 1, 2 or 3 possible new signings. It would be interesting to know exactly how many points will be available if only the 4 I first mentioned were signed but not knowing the points limit for 2012 thats impossible. In my humble opinion the Witches need a genuine no1 who can actually win heats 13 and 15 on a regular basis, thats been sadly lacking this season and has cost us dear on numerous occasions with league points lost. There has been no consistency whatsoever with the 8 riders used this season apart from Lasse Bjerre and Taylor Poole and to a lesser degree Tress, who really have not let the Witches down at all. But the 100$ question is who can be signed and perform to their potential on a regular basis???
