Not too surprised Poole have made a poor start to the season and James Shanes is the obvious target. James is improving rapidly with every meeting at Sheffield, and winning and scoring more points will build his confidence after he has got over the disappointment of been dropped his confidence will grow. He is not the first to be dropped like this and he won't be the last.

Glasgow v Sheffield SGBCL 04/05/2018 @ 19.30

Think we are in really fix tonight. Rider Replacement for Kyle Howarth will not reap the points that Kyle would have scored. If we can get past 32 points I think that we will have done well. -
Sheffield v Peterborough SGBCL 3/5/18 @ 7.30

Not been tonight due ill health so cannot make a proper assessment on the teams performance, but from what I can gleam from the updates page from my texter mate I don't think it helped Kyle coming into a meeting obviously not fit and having to put out after two injury hit rides. That puts the pressure on the other two heatleaders when they have to take consecutive rides, which takes it out on both man and machine. The rider replacement was not working and unfortunately the rider brought in to cover that role failed miserably, but of the riders that were possibly available Gravensen was the best option available. But highlights one thing for me we miss Josh Bates and we need to get him back into the fold as soon as possible. I think you can really blame James Shanes, the guy has improved with every meeting and is a shining light in the team, he along with Wright and Bjerre were taking on extra rides and kept the team in the meeting along with Todd Kurtz. The Panthers looked s though they took advantage of our shortcomings, but not fully because if I was a Panthers I would have been disappointed that this was not a win rather than a draw, but congratulations in coming away with some from Sheffield not many teams have been able to say over recent seasons. But I will say it again the sooner we get Josh Bates back the better. -
Probably the best option out there. One thing I do know is that the Rider Replacement was not working. I wonder where they put Jan in the team, personally I would put him in at number 2 and Todd at 4.

Redcar v Sheffield SGBCS 27/04/18 @ 19.30
spin king replied to Blackadder's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I am sure that I read somewhere that Redcar were told to build up an asset base for the club. That invariably means bringing untried riders on assessed averages, and rare that any untried rider manages to better or achieve the assessed average. So with two newcomers to the league it adds extra pressure to other five to step up their game, and I think that is the problem at Redcar this season. -
Newcastle vs Sheffield 29/4/2018

Fair play to the Diamonds did a job on us tonight. I think we now might have handed Scunny the top of the table and we will probably go through as the best 2nd placed team. I think that we really need to look at the Josh Bates situation because we are not getting the points from his R/R rides at the moment, and if he is not back very soon we really need to consider bringing in another rider, will be interesting to see what happens regarding Mason Campton, because I think Bradley Wilson Dean would capable of filling in the void left by Josh. The other slight concern at the moment is Lasse Bjerre not completed a race tonight and generally started this season pretty slowly, but I seem to remember he did last season, so although I am concerned it is only slightly. Fundamentally I think the team is okay and competitive and one win or one loss does not define a season and we will be back a wounded Tiger is a dangerous animal. But we do need to sort out the rider replacement situation sooner rather than later. -

Would always want my own rider opposed to a Guest You never quite sure what you are getting with a Guest. There is a slight concern with Jason riding for the Scorpions this season, but he is sponsored by SWC so I cannot see him doing anyhting else other than trying get as many points as possible. -

Big test for Diamonds coming up against the League Champions. The remit for the Diamonds has to be win all or as many of their home matches to keep the fans interest. It will get whole lot harder for the Diamonds with Garrity in for Bjerre gives us even more of chance to take all of the points. I think we might just nick this one or get a solitary point. -

Another fine performance from the Tigers, riding like the Champions they are. The Bears seem to have some problems Barker looks out of sorts, and to be fair they don't seem to have a rider who could take over that number 1 role. -

Good all round performance from the Tigers, and the score flattered the Bears. Did not see the Barker/ Howarth incident, so cannot comment and I doubt we will get full story. Looking good for topping the group table, wonder if the Scorpions can make the best 2nd best team. -

I would not let it get to you. Basically what they are saying is We know that you are better than us. We know that we cannot get the better of you. And maybe another team can help us the better of you cause we can't. -

Redcar look a whole lot stronger with the two Guest riders in the team. I will take a Sheffield win by 12. -
Sheffield v Newcastle 05.04.18

I think the problem is that is not what they originally stated, maybe the best policy could be that they could have given supporters the chance to use the tickets for any of the first three home meetings. -

Class of 2018 Tigers take to the track against the strength in depth Diamonds. The sun is shining and the sky is blue ad there is no a cloud in sight. Could well be our toughest test ever from the strength in depth Diamonds, could we see Mr Rowland and Mr Park leaving Sheffield doing a Geordie jig, anything is possible with a team that has strength in depth like the Diamonds. Seriously the Diamonds have never had much form around Owlerton, as we have never done that well at Brough Park, so although not expecting a cricket score tonight I think it should be pretty comfortable win. The rider I am most looking forward to seeing is James Shanes could well prove to be our secret weapon this season. -
I think that JPB could now have problems for the future. The words used in the Glasgow press release virtually match those from Sheffield when he walked away from them. There is no doubt that the lad has the talent to be a decent rider, but know there has to questions raised about his heart, desire and determination to move his career forwards and how much he really wants it. Hopefully he can get himself sort out and use that talent that he has otherwise he faces a career riding in the National League only.

Maybe they would been using this one.

I think it is very apt, after reading some comments on the live updates site Kings Lynn fans are used to standing around.

Championship Predictions 2018

Describe me a proper number 1. -
Not sure but I think she is Luke Chessell's girlfriend, she used to do second halves at Sheffield.
-
First off I don't feel that one rider makes a team, and I am confident that the rest of the team can provided the cover for that rider. Secondly I am confident that the Promotion if they thought that we did need to bring in a temporary replacement then they would. Thirdly the most important thing for me is that we qualify for the Play Offs, where we would be in with a chance of been crown Champions again, and you don't qualify for them at the end of April
-
Jesus Christ, is not about time people gave it a rest. The lad rides a speedway bike with no brakes for a living, I would imagine that at the time going for a bit of sledging with a few friends he thought was a little harmless fun, that went wrong. Last season he missed some meeting due to falling down the stairs carrying nappies for his son, are we going to ban him from doing that as well as sledging. They were both freak accidents, freak meaning they are unexpected and unusual, these sorts of things have happened before and will happen again to any rider. Or do we at the end of every season give riders a list of do's and don't while they are waiting for the season to start.
-
And he too is riding Poland next season which effectively rules him out.
-
I think if Bjerre fits then he is the best to take up the role.
-
The problem there is that Jorgensen has already stated he is riding Poland which rules out a Sunday track. Huckenbeck has already stated that he has no plans to ride in this country this season and I would think he is probably nailed on to be riding in Poland. The problem and the challenges that the Newcastle promotion is trying to find decent riders who are not riding in Poland, and been a Sunday track this going to be an ongoing problem for them. Why they have not signed Rose yet is beyond me unless the wage demands are not feasible.
