  1. Somerset is scheduled for my August mini break. Love the racing there.
  2. Very unfair to denigrate Ms Turnbull for Monday, I didn't think she got any decision that she COULD make under the rules wrong. Monday was completely the fault of the meeting steward Paul Clarke who is the only official that can halt a Sky match and order a track inspection.
  3. Certainly not because of decent racing I get that at P/Boro. I now do mini breaks around speedway meetings, so Dorset has had the pleasure of my company for 4 days. So Matt can tell Poole Tourism that speedway pulled in a few people lol. No way would I travel more than 40 miles simply for a speedway meeting in these days of 10 heat matches.
  4. Whereas I'm looking forward to seeing Bomber cos he's an out and out racer, Doolan is much preferable for me as I've never rated Porsing and although I'd much rather see Rory, Josh is another rider I like watching. There again I'm no longer a true Lynn fan. Just for Semion....3 miles from track sunny, warm a few white clouds and a bit of a breeze Matt Ford needs to up his advertising cos the waiter where we had lunch had never heard of Speedway but knew all about the motorbikes in Bournemouth at the weekend "they ride ever so close together " he gushed. So I attempted to educate him and gave him directions to the stadium...well told him it was behind Barclays ....now where do I go to claim my prize from Matt lol.
  5. There's no point anyone having a go at Christina Turnbull, it was a Sky match so she had no say in whether the meeting went ahead or not. That was down to the meeting steward, Paul Clarke who quite frankly should hang his head in shame and then do a Blatter.
  6. A better way from a more astute team manager would have been for both Bees to go to start, one go thro tapes to be replaced by reserve, in restart another Bee goes thro tapes to be replaced by the other reserve. In the next restart a Bee goes thro tapes. Three tapes excs and replacements taking their full 2 minutes each, plus a bit extra I guess and the track would have been a river and impossible to ride in. Sense would prevail meeting abandoned before heat 10 could be concluded, if not the fourth Bees rider ploughs thro the tapes - point well and truly made and no riders put at risk of a fine! Yes it would be a bad advert for the sport but what exactly was last night.
  7. What a farce. I could say many things but what riles me the most is the fact the riders were fined and too quote Kylamakorpi "it's my f**king LIFE" yet the meeting steward Peter Clarke aka Sky poodle promised to have a track inspection and didn't will walk away without one. Unless speedway somehow manages to get officials with some balls who make decisions without "fear or prejudice" speedway will continue on the road of Blatterism. RIP Speedway
  8. I see that Lynn will use Josh G for Rory and as NKI is in Denmark we have Bomber. Sad that the first guest is necessary but quite like Josh and I'm bloody delighted that Bomber is riding, he is entertainment plus round Poole. Sure the purists won't be happy but I am
  9. On it's own it's probably not a deal breaker, add in all the other irritations (for want of a better word) and folk will vote with their feet. You know that from twitter the other night. 10 years ago I doubt you or anyone else that knew me would imagine I would not be a regular at Lynn, but it's happened. Strangely my love for the sport has been rekindled somewhat but at P/Boro and watching Lynn away. I understand a few things improved at Lynn last week and if and when the clown in the centre disappears I might give it. Try until then there's no chance. Too many things that annoy me without putting up with his inane uttering so all night. Maybe see you on Weds
  10. Not good for business if it puts folk off attending again tho. As for track and medical staff having a break, any medic is used to eating (and anything else lol) on the move occasionally. Injury breaks are understandable but if you have young children or early start at work extra breaks are a pain in the proverbial.
  11. Anyone know of a pub in the Poole area showing this? Thanks in advance. PS preferably one where I won't be lynched cheering for Coventry lol
  12. I've been saying similar things about Lynn for years. Funnily enough on my last 4 visits to Peterborough I've never thought they were long drawn out affairs (and that includes Monday when Blackbird was injured). Maybe the difference for me is what's provided between the racing.....reasonable music/ rider interviews/knowledgeable presenter giving info and shock horror fans being kept informed why there was a delay and the fact that intervals are taken when there is a delay and not added on regardless. I eagerly anticipate each race at Boro cos the track provides it so it's worth waiting for whereas Saddlebow Road (as it will always remain )nowadays simply doesn't. It's all in the perception and expectation I guess.
  13. It was the time to mention it in your opinion, he obviously thinks in a different way to you. Let's face it whatever he said you wouldn't change your view, which is your right. Some of us have differing views. As to the "some" I doubt you would know them, but most of us know someone who does it. Whether they actually do indeed have depression is a matter of opinion as many that suffer are very reluctant to say so. Depression is a horrible illness that affects people in many different ways and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
  14. Maybe he doesn't feel the need to mention it in every conversation, unlike some!
  15. IMO one of his greatest assets is patience. Unlike many youngsters he knows when to await his opportunity rather than rush in and end up on the deck or going backwards. He is a joy to watch..... ...well that's my view based on away performances anyway.
  16. I gather the riders from both teams are doing a collection for Rory, so in this instance it's forgive able
  17. Maybe indicative of the lack of loyalty to British speedway by some riders? Something Rory can never be accused of
  18. retweet....oops I meant bump
  19. If that's your view, fine. I prefer to think the best of people until they prove otherwise. As I said in my original post speedway is a tough mans world and maybe just maybe Bridger found it difficult to admit to others in that world that basically he had lost his bottle. Judging by some of the comments on here and other places you can understand why. I honestly don't now any more than you do but whatever his true reason maybe we can agree that if his head and heart were not in it, he did the right thing for the safety of others he might have shared a track with.
  20. That may well be but I know on Sunday when news of Rory's crash came through how I felt and how strongly it brought back memories of another Sunday in May three years ago. I felt sick all day and I didn't/don't know either rider personally so I can well imagine how someone who does would feel. On another thread Batchelor is getting sick for riding with food poisoning because he could have put other riders in danger. The mind is an organ in the same way as a stomach is and if it isn't performing properly affects your actions. Yes Bridger can be a tool and has done some stupid and idiotic things but in this case I prefer to accept what he says. At the end of the day whatever his reason if his mind was not in the right place he was right not to put himself or more importantly anyone else at risk.
  21. Well done to Swindon getting the crowd in. Be interesting to see what happens next week.
  22. He should be given credit for being man enough to admit how those events have affected him. Not easy in what's considered a tough man's sport. In any other profession he would probably receive counselling and IMHO he would benefit from it. I think it's time he walked away from speedway and got on with his life elsewhere. I wish him all the best in whatever else he chooses to do with his life.
