As he rides on an Australian licence isn't it up to MA to ban him pending an FIM hearing? Slightly off topic. I've just come back from watching the Battle of Britain flight and the Canadian Lancaster display at Marham and it crossed my mind that the crews that flew in the Battle of Britiain were the same age as Darcy Ward. Makes you think doesn't it?
-
No but as my last employers could, if they had chosen, have requested any of us to take alcohol tests, I never drank for at least 24 hours before a shift.
-
Which just proves a personst judgement is impaired by alcohol. As for your 2nd point, it has no relevance to this incident
-
Not what the link says, unless of course Danno was suspended pending the hearing and the ban started from then.
-
Out of interest Rob what time of year did Danno's suspension start? EDIT just found it. http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Speedway%3A+GP+stunner+for+Danno.-a068355819 Commited the offence in September, He was banned in December meaning he could not race until the following August, so effectively nearly a whole season

Go find the whisky bottle . I and many others are not anti-Ward we are simply anti alcohol in speedway. There is a difference, and if you can't see that maybe you have already found the whisky .
-
Er no it's Darcy Wards for having a drink (or two)
-
Damn I thought Dave Robinson had killed this thread off good and proper

I take no pleasure in Darcy's plight. However having seen many riders seriously injured and one lose his life, I am wholeheartedly on the side of anything that enhances rider safety. I'd feel the same whoever was involved, and incidentally think Dudek should be banned. If a high profile rider like Darcy gets banned and it makes just one youngster stop and think before drinking and riding something good might come out of this. I take no pleasure in Darcy's plight. I haven't seen one rider condone what Darcy Ward did. I wonder if that's cos it's their lives on the line. If in doubt read Steve Hones post 2 above this one. Fans entertainment comes a very poor second to rider safety.

So if reports are to be believed, he went out last night (in his words to a restaurant) obviously had an alcoholic drink(s), then got the bad news, and in his own words didn't eat properly and didn't "hydrate" after that. Cos it's well known that alcohol dehydrates you. So his defence of receiving bad news in my eyes is negated because he had the alcohol before getting the bad news. "Who were his companions last night? Fellow riders? Or Advisors? Did they eat? Did they Drink? Did they "hydrate"? I'd suggest they are not very good friends if they allowed him to do this and certainly are not good advisors. None of the above is a defence, just thinking out loud so to speak.
-
The point is Darcy and every other rider knew the rules and the consequences. They are in the public domain. He knew them when he signed his GP contract, he has no defence and if the rules say he gets a ban, so be it.
-
Whatever the news he got, there is no excuse. 15 other riders depend on him being fully compus mentis. Agree he did the right thing facing the camera .
-
Unless someone held him down and poured alcohol down his throat there are no excuses. Even then the correct thing to do would have been to report it and pull himself out of the meeting
-
Is he still due to have an op in the winter? If he gets banned he'll simply bring it forward. Hope the authorities take it into account
-
But he wasn't sponsored by the series sponsors!
-
No way am I trying to defend the idiot but does anyone know if alcohol tests are normal at GPs or are they random? I guess what I'm asking is did someone see him drinking and reported it.
-
Not quite. Lee won a world title before going off the rails.
-
None whatsoever

Riga Gp Tickets 2014
Star Lady replied to James 12345's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Don't think I'll be alone having no sympathy for BSI. If they had insisted on a test meeting at Riga this May have been avoided. They have a moral responsibility to help ticket holders, even if they have no legal responsibility. -
I understand the sentiments entirely and I shall not be going to Lynn vs Poole this Thursday. That's a personal decision and I wouldn't encourage others to do the same because whichever club it is, a boycott could well be the financial straw that breaks the camels back. I wouldn't want that on my conscience. Years ago I really couldn't stand Hancock and Hamill, still can't if truth be told. I refused to boo them but always turned my back to the track when they came round, except when racing of course. Maybe this is a way fans could show their displeasure without hitting clubs finances. Whenever a Poole rider comes round before the race turn your back. When Poole do a parade, turn your back. Probably won't do any good but Sky would find it hard to hide it at televised matches if the whole of the crowd turned their backs. Get a newspaper involved and who knows what could happen

Message To Eurosport

I was somewhat confused when Ermolenko kept saying Pawlicki was riding. I realised the third time he probably meant Jurica Pavlic! -
Patryk Dudek Tests Positive For Banned Substance
Star Lady replied to lastword's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Very strange that just about every thread you post on ends up with adverse comments about the mods of this forum. In it's way just as if not more annoying than the multi alias member. I've asked before why if you don't like the way this forum is run you don't set up your own but you tried that and no one was interested. -
Should he choose a constituency close to a track, I'd suggest an invitation there too and as early in his campaign as possible. Boris doesn't know the meaning of bad publicity
