  1. Perfect summing up IMO. Along with the tacticals being used in the right place. If GB go 6 down use one as soon as poss, providing we have a chance of beating the Aussies of course, we may not get a chance later in the meeting.
  2. There were lots of tweets before the meeting about getting behind Team GB and GB Pride. Does that only apply to fans as 1 The Manager (now moved sideways to Team Coach so he can play number scrabble) couldn't be bothered to get accredited 2 The riders didn't even attempt to sing the National Anthem. Why should the fans display pride when the Manager Coach and riders don't? Just asking. Also once Kennett was dropped I saw no sign of a manager/coach with him trying to keep his spirits/confidence up. The only person TV showed near him was Harris.
  3. I wan't there so this is conjecture but I'd imagine the main problem was there is only one route out of the road the Norfolk Arena is on (A47), unless you are very local and know your way to the A10. It's something we in Norfolk are used to and those with motorways close by aren't. Coventry and Eastbourne's car parks are both grass. Poole's car park is tiny (multi storey nearby would be pay to park). Wolves Isn't that big from memory. BV would be pushed to cope with a crowd that size as would Birmingham who use a supermarket car park . Lakeside last time I went resembled a building site (may well have changed it's about 10 years ago). Swindon is OK I guess. Peterborough is a fair walk. From the PL tracks I've been too maybe only Berwick would be large enough, but hey that's grass too.
  4. It was Sky that chose not to take the SGP and SWC coverage this year so how you can keep knocking Eurosport baffles me. Would you rather no on showed it Yes it is because they actually ~SHOW Speedway, Sky don't. and as Sky have live sport on all 4 channels tomorrow, if they had been showing the speedway the "Red Button" is where it would have been. Why the hell can't people just accept Sky didn't want Speedway and be grateful to Eurosport for picking up the pieces.
  5. Sorry didn't make myself clear. I know it would probably need 2 vehicles to take the casualties to hospital. My point was providing there are sufficient competent resources available to deal with more than one casualty in the immediate aftermath of a crash, 1 vehicle is acceptable. In an ideal world yes two would be great but sadly we have to be realistic and many tracks could not afford the extra expense.
  6. Totally agree about No 8s. Most tracks have a junior living within a reasonable distance so cost shouldn't be too much of a factor. However, knowing a bit about ambulances and their cost having two at every track could well be a step too far for several tracks. They don't come cheap. Before anyone jumps on me and says rider safety comes first - I totally agree but as I read the posts on this thread it seems that the fans waiting time is the factor most are complaining about. As long as there are sufficient well trained medical staff to back up the doctor/paramedic on duty in the case of a multi casualties one vehicle is OK.
  7. Seats on my sofa are prebookable, cost £2.90 withouth beverages, bed and breakfast at reasonable rates Isn't this normally WTC week? Maybe they are hiring the stadium for 10 days and going to run the WTC final the week before. Remember you heard the rumour here first
  8. Extremely disappointed. Cardiff is built up all year and then they ask riders to perform on that surface. Seems to me a few of them showed what they thought of it by their lack of effort and I don't blame them. On the plus side massive well done to Eurosport. We saw the parade, heard the anthems, saw a few shots outside the stadium. We had a decent intelligent pits interviewer and presenters actually in the stadium and not cocooned in a box seperated from the atmosphere by glass. We saw all the racing and we saw the presentation despite it over-running. Best of all we discovered a gem. I'm not a big Scott Nicholls fan but he was excellent tonight. For the first time in 40+ years the basic workings of tuning were explained in a way I understood, he summarised well, he didn't sit on the fence he gave opinions and IMHO is probably the best rider used in broadcasting with the exception of the incomparable Johnno Dunno if he had private tuition in TV presenting skills but he was good.
  9. Not half as unprofessional as Gaaham Drury taking it seriously! Have all the BSPA had a sense of humour bypass? That's a rhetorical question BTW
  10. Excellent coverage again. I like the lack of studio bit. Yes the continuity announcer isn't that knowledeable but I like the recap before the next four heats instead of experts (and I use the word loosely cos it often includes Ermolenkeo) telling us what we already know. We seemed to see more of the peripherals last night, pits, tapes etc which Sky never showed us seeming to prefer to use their "experts". Pearson & Tatum didn't annoy me at all, well only at the begining when they told us at least 3 times in 5 minutes how many GPs Hancock had been in . Perhaps it was just the brilliant standard of racing or maybe it was because they were actually able to concentrate on the meeting itself instead of publicising the next Sky league match. Whatever they were much better. All in all Eurosport are doing a wonderful job. Keep doing exactly what you are doing and forget the studio....save some money Eurosport and put it towards more speedway coverage
  11. Best GP for several years, mainly thanks to the younger riders. Racing must have been good cos Pearson and Tatum didn't annoy me once
  12. Excellent especially if that means no Ermolenko words of wisdom gobbledegook
  13. Couple of things spring to mind reading the comments on this thread. 1 If the World Champion of speedway indulges in this kind of behaviour, and I am only going on reports on this thread, what does it say about the standards of professionalism in Speedway. Bit of a rhetorical question really 2 Who the heck do all the drunken idiots on a Friday and Saturday night think clears up their puke and swills down the pavements of their urine? They might think it's big and clever to no longer be in enough control of their bodily functions to be unable to make their way to a toilet. I think they are pathetic and I don't care if " all young people in this country do it". It's disgusting and I hope when they fall down or stagger their way home they manage to find a pile of dog poo that an equally irresponsible person had not cleared up .
  14. He often gets a flyer so gets called back
  15. Don't think anyone else has mentioned the ticker running across the bottom of the screen at intervals advertising other motor sport events during the Speedway GP. IF Eurosport do the same for Speedway during the Moto GPs and other bike progs it has to be a good thing. I have no idea if Sky ever did anything like that cos I never watched any other motor sport on Sky.
  16. And wasn't that boring......at least I used to think so. That was make a cuppa time for me
  17. Track not brilliant but I've seen worse GPs. I know it's all about personal opinion but I thought it was excellent coverage. I liked the interviews with Hancock and Holder, nice to see them in non track surroundings, in many ways makes them more human. Loved the commentary. It was typical Aussie unstuffy chat which at times made me laugh and sport should be fun lol.To actually be told technical (ish) bits about the bikes e.g. lengthening the chassis and the new guards on the silencers, was a refreshing change instead of having to listen to inane ramblings (mentioning no names but I hope Ermolenko never darkens my TV screen again). Johnnos knowledge of racing shone thro time and time again. Also like the snippets of what riders had said to him in the pits earlier. The other guy was good, even when he did get excited he didn't shout unduly - Mr Pearson please take note. I actually enjoyed watching Woffinden where normally I get annoyed at the constant hero worship from the commentators. I didn't notice too much repetition either altho I suppose after a few more GPs it might become more obvious. Eurosport more of the same please. Very little need for a studio set up IMHO. Just send an articulate ex rider and a cameraman to the pits for the GPs and use the BSI feed. It's a great improvement on the Sky coverage.
  18. WOT No News Keep calm and carry on emailing/moaning/posting/ waiting patiently * *delete as appropriate
  19. When I cancelled Sky sports because of the lack of speedway, the person on the phone insisted it was F1. At the weekend I would imagine there is only a skeleton staff at work and they simply referred to the schedule available to all on the website.. Anyway who cares what they think if they are actually showing it live Some people just like to look on the black side
  20. HERE Speedway on Sky in jeopardy thread Posts by Philip Rising on Feb 28 - #828 and Mar 1 #831.
  21. Won't bother me one iota. It will still be four maniacs chasing each other round a track
  22. Wonder what they will show if a meeting is rained off this season?
  23. At least Darcy Ward, or his advisors, realised he needed to issue a statement. His older and supposedly wiser team manager is still conspicuous by his silence.
