Precisely. So simple and cheap it will never be adopted. BTW folks this thread is about warnings not whether a rider did or did not move, there's a match thread for that.
-
So Steve you sat in the stand were you aware that Cook had been warned after the first start and if you were how were you informed. It's one thing fans thinking a rider has moved but quite another for a rider to get a warning which if repeated could have a massive impact on the result of a match given no replacement is allowed, not that it affected last nights result. It's said that start marshals tell the rider, it would cost about a tenner to provide a card (like the joker in SWC) that the start Marshall or his assistant could show both the rider and the crowd
-
That may be the case but it doesn't appear to have worked last night and doesn't tell the PAYING public. last night it appears that the only people in the stadium who knew of the warning were in the refs box. That's not acceptable.

Following last nights Sky match little has been said about Cook being excluded for "delaying the start" twice. What concerns me is that it appears no one apart from those in the refs box knew he had been warned after the first attempted start. Not only is that ridiculous from the point of view of the rider, why warn him if he isn't told about it (i.e. he isn't actually warned), his manager, the person who might just tell him to be a bit more careful second time around is also unaware. What kind of sport are we watching here! The biggest concern is the lack of info for the crowd (you know the ones, they pay to get in). They have a right to know, not as much as the rider maybe but they still should know. Every other sport I can think of makes it very clear to spectators that a participant has been warned (Tennis, Footie, Rugby etc). Folk often moan that there is no atmosphere at speedway well here's one small way to inject some, Make sure warnings are loud and clear and let the fans react.

I agree with you but I'm of the opinion that riders nowadays are slighty wimpish compared to the likes of Nygren, Fundin,Collins and more recently Loram. I'm all for rider safety but in 50 odd years I cannot remember a really serious crash caused because of a very wet track ( last few years apart). The rocket ships they ride now simply don't allow riders to use their skills so they just won't ride on wet stuff. I remember many a meeting watching from under an umbrella which doubled as a shale stopper when the riders went past, and most of them were very entertaining and well attended. -

Given that modern riders will not ride on anything wetter than a slightly damp track (except if Sky is in town) does it make financial sense for promoters to try and get a track race able? Long gone are the days when riders put a pair of overalls over their leathers and got on with things. -

Been wallpapering but I've only noticed a couple of short showers. In normal circs not enough to even think of calling it off but given the forecast who knows. Hubby & daughter are hoping it Ps down soon, nothing they hate more than is it on or not right up to start time and then a long wait while the track is sorted out. I don't like it either cos they whinge!!! Given all the massive gaps in the fixtures (whatever happened to weekly speedway) call it off and stick it in one of the gaps. -

He wasn't called Bratchelor for nothing I'm no great fan of his but full marks to him for not coming out with the stock answers most riders spout. Far rather that than a load of tosh about bikes not being set up etc. -
I'm far from his biggest fan but he respected the anthem which is all I ask. I don't sing it myself so it would be hypocritical to expect others to do so.

King’s Lynn V Birmingham Wed 11 May

Anyone travelling along A47 from Norwich direction the road is close at Middleton. Seems the road surface is sinking and will be closed indefinitely. -
t I'm wondering if the votes at the AGM were split and as such the chairman would have the casting vote. As Buster wasn't voted in until the end he could not change things. Let's judge him by what happens at the next AGM. If he doesn't do something radical and more importantly sensible I'll be the first to complain about him.

Nor me, I just cheer for whoever gets in front of the Monster lot so I don't have to see the ridiculous antics with the drink containers and catch a glimpse of the bearded hippy guy pretending to be a teenager -

Likewise, had intended to go but had second thoughts. Hubby & daughter went, were not impressed with bags being searched and even less impressed with the racing. I saw hts 2-7 on periscope decided it was rubbish and quite happily sat at home eating a cream cake watching a rerun of Foyles War . Think I had the more entertaining evening to be honest. -
