BEES v LEICESTER, PREVIEW
Thursday March 19, 2015
COVENTRY race into action at Brandon for the first time this season when local rivals Leicester provide the opposition on Friday evening (7.30pm).
The Buildbase Bees will be looking to turn the tables in the Lions in the second leg of the East Midlands Bowl, and in the process set themselves up for the start of the Elite League campaign next week.
Winter signings Danny King and Jakub Jamrog make their home debuts for the Bees, whilst Stuart Robson has just embarked on his fourth spell in Coventry colours.
Opponents Leicester served notice last Sunday that they have assembled a competitive septet for 2015, spearheaded by Grand Prix newcomer Jason Doyle who scored a paid maximum in the first leg.
Polish youngster Szymon Wozniak will be making his first appearance at Brandon, whilst the battle at reserve should also be intense as Jason Garrity and James Sarjeant look to get the better of Josh Auty, who was also unbeaten last weekend.
Auty is partnered by Simon Lambert, who missed the first leg, whilst Bees welcome back No.1 Hans Andersen, who was absent from the Jordan Road Surfacing Stadium due to a family bereavement.
Coventry promoter Mick Horton said: “Judging by last Sunday Leicester seem to have a really good team this season and it looks like they are going to be very difficult to beat on their own track.
“On Friday, though, they are coming to our backyard, and we will be ready. We need everyone to get behind the boys, they are aiming to entertain and bring success.”
Friday’s 15-heat senior meeting will be followed by a full six-heat second half featuring the majority of the Coventry Storm team members as they prepare for their National League campaign.
