A 2 valve Jawa revved at probably 7000 rpm, a modern GM revs at nearly twice that. The problem with modern bikes is they have a major lack of torque, short stroke motors and super lightweight flywheels have seen to that. It may rev at 12000 plus and it can certainly get to those revs very quickly but the second it hits some resistance it simply wants to go straight whereas the older long strong motors, although not as easy to get round bends had the capacity to ride through some resistance without killing the revs and sending the rider off at right angles

No no comment. I would normally try and make you look stupid but to be honest you are doing all the work for me here so no need -

He keeps saying the same thing. As no one really takes him on anymore he keeps saying it louder and louder in ever longer posts. You must have noticed the guy is a fool? As you say the play offs have given many teams meaningful matches that otherwise would have been dead matches -

The play offs, this season more than ever, have proved their worth. As you say, by June matches other than those for Cov or Poole would have been meaningless. As it is up to the last few week when Leicester and Wolves fell away then every team has had a purpose to the matches and it has helped crowds hold up. Had it not been for play offs I dread to think what crowd the Aces would have had from mid May onwards. Coupled with the bumper crowds the final generate there is no doubt the play offs are one of the best things to happen in the sport in recent years -

It is all in the scientific pyramid shaped storage of the shale for these events Phil. To the untrained eye it may look as though it was just dumped out the back of a tipper but that is not the case is it? -

They haven't let anyone down. The brick will be incorporated into the build exactly as it was planned. Yes it is poor form not to have sent a confirmation e mail, particularly after chasing it up,but it is a bit early to be declaring he has not got what he has paid for. I suspect most people who wanted to do this will have already done so and Ian's assertion that he has decided not to bother was probably the case beforehand anyway. -
No doubt the whole thing escalated as it went on but had more (some) consideration been shown and the noise restricted to no later than 10PM I doubt their complaint (assuming they would have even made one) would have got very far. Motor sport venues are very much at risk from this type of action but as long as they comply with the (ever more restrictive) conditions of planning they are unlikely to fall foul like Mildenhall have. It is why some speedway tracks have curfews and they know the risk of consistently breaking it It isn't just motor sport though. Any business operating within a residential area who's activities are likely to create noise nuisance still have to maintain a reasonable strategy with regard noise.
-
Now that is irony folks
-
No the judge lives in the real world where noise nuisance is treated like it should be treated I live fairly close to a pub. Before I moved I knew it was here, it opens every day from midday to 11pm. No problem with that but rest assured if that pub suddenly decided to flout its license and stay open till 3 AM on a regular basis I would do all I could to put a stop to it. The owners of Mildenhall were unreasonable and luckily for the rest of us the law has shown that, no matter how long you gave been there, you cant simply disregard other peoples right to a reasonable life
-
The law, in this case is in no way an ass and offers protection against unreasonable noise nuisance. They likely purchased the property knowing a motor sport stadium was in the vicinity, the search probably highlighted it. They would see events on certain Saturday or Sunday afternoons and decided to purchase on that basis. It would be reasonable use of the stadium and be covered by the PP. However when they move in they find the racket on a Saturday actually goes on until 2 AM and beyond then that is not reasonable use and they have every right to demand it stops. Noise pollution is a major issue nowadays (and rightly so) have a look at Brands Hatch website and see the restricions in place on the times and number of days they can operate on. They don't flout it because they know the consequence. The stadium owners seemed to think they were exempt from such things and are now paying the price. The only Ass in this case is Mildenhall Stadium

Looks as though that is what has happened here. He has played everyone for mugs. It all fits now, thousands of people buy bricks they never receive then all of a sudden Morton is building a speedway stadium. It doesn't take Poirot to see whats happened here. -

Despite the joking I assume he means a commemorative certificate of some sort and if true he hasn't received acknowledgement of any kind after numerous attempts then it is p!ss poor -

Maybe the brick wouldn't go through his letterbox. Perhaps as an alternative he could look into having it incorporated into the build somehow, don't know if that is possible -
The Brits suffered similarly. Take 1978. Yes we guaranteed 4 places, but this in a time when more were easily capable of qualifying but because of the system it was impossible. If I recall up the very early 80s the Americans were restricted to 2 possible riders in the world final and prior to the mid 70s they had no route into the final at all. No one doubts that the current system isn't perfect but it is far better than what went in years gone by.
-
1970 was the worst example with 6 Poles seeded straight to the final. In the main they were, by the world standards of the day, pretty average riders as well. Even right up to the 90s 5 places were given over to sub standard continental riders, although they did have a qualification process for those places Despite the cobblers often posted on here the current system of qualifiers and wildcards is the fairest selection process ever used and pretty much guarantees the best 15 riders in the world contest the series, Harris aside.

Are kids really allowed to leave school this stupid
-
Lay downs are far easier to ride due to a lower centre of gravity. The difficulty with modern bikes is short stroke motors and lightweight flywheels means the engine simply dies when it hits resistence sending the bikes all over the place

Regret my statement? most certainly not. In fact it was toned down because my real feeling may have got me a ban 20216. You really do have it in for Darcy, thats a hell of a ban
