Oh dear, clearly missed the sarcasm. It was posted in the style of Sidney and was meant to reflect what he might say. I even threw in the p!ss poor grammar for realism. I will try harder next time

Yeh and you are just a no it all SCB, Ashby, did you even see him ride, i did week in week out. youu cant even debate you have to be right all the time. starman wiped the floor with you on the jerran hart thread and you and your little gang were made to look silly. maybe you shud lern to opologise every now and again.

Yes indeed, that is the one match of the year the Aces don't need to lose to the weather. Big crowd to put a few quid in the coffers. Sadly though it doesn't seem too hopefull
-
It hasn't gone from wet to dry. The forecast is rain all day up to 4PM

I didn't see Pugwash being a match for anybody, or trying to be. What Pugwash/Bwitcher/SCB/myself had was a discussion/debate. Each of us putting our point over without any name calling or hissy fits (and coming the conclusion that I was right, as usual!!!!!) Then you have yourself and Starman who's response to anyone disagreeing with them is to launch into a childish name calling tirade

In the last 40 years mph has only increased slightly. On a bigger track like say Sheffield 40 years ago they would hit the bends at 60 - 65 mph, now its probably 65 - 70 mph. Fall off a motorbike at either 60 or 65 and it hurts pretty much the same. We see very few (thankfully) fatalities nowadays largely due to helmet technology and no lighting standards in close proximity, coupled with air fences. We do possibly see more damage to limbs, largely because modern race suits and armour don't afford the same protection as an old set of leathers. A modern bike though revs massively more than its 1970s counterpart and thanks to short stroke motors with super lightweight flywheels and modern silencers has a very limited (zero) power band, it will only really work at max revs, throttle control is a thing of the past, the bike needs to on the stop. On a slick super smooth track these machines are so much easier (and safer) to ride but they have little torque so when the rear wheel hits resistance in the form of grip rather than ride through it it will grab the wheel and send the bike lifting and pointing all wrong. A long stroke motor with a normal flywheel can get through these conditions but it takes longer to get to peak revs

Starman, Sidney and the drop a cog wally. Jesus you couldn't find three dumber characters if you tried and we get them all for free on here.,
-
But again you are talking degrees of being drunk. After only 1 drink you are by and large in control of your faculties but even after that control is diminished, albeit only ever so slightly but diminished all the same. Why do you think some jobs have a zero limit. 1 pint would probably not affect your driving ability but it would hinder you if you had to land a Boeing 747.
-
It is everyone's right to be stupid but you are abusing that right. What is it that you can't understand. By nature alcohol impairs your senses (I exclude you from that for obvious reasons). That state is popularly called being drunk. Now to what degree you are drunk depends on the amount consumed. 1 pint = not very drunk, 10 pints equal very drunk. No alcohol = sober. You can't have alcohol in your system, not even a small amount and be sober Are you with me so far. So at the time of the test in Riga Darcy had alcohol in his system. It matters not, for the purpose of this debate, how much alcohol, just that some was present.
-
No he is making you look stupid, to be fair though you have given him lots of help
-
To be drunk is to be in a state where alchohol impairs your decision making and thinking process. There are of course degrees of being drunk but falling over puking up isn't the only definition. Even 1 pint affects these processes to a very small degree, not enough that you would be considered unfit to drive but affected all the same. So yes. After 1 pint you are, in a tiny way drunk, after 15 pints you will be very drunk with different degrees for each pint in between. When you start talking sh!t that can be a sign you are either very drunk or Starman

Well I must have missed the other 2%

Sidney is an odd one. He puts his point of view over then throws a hissy fit when someone dares to question it. He has the same stock responses to each poster as well. He gets more abusive with each post until finally earning a ban for it. Shame really because on occasion he can be quite informative
-
Clearly the 70% is a guesstimate but I imagine Sidney isn't a million miles out. The Poole faithful do seem in the main rather supportive of Darcy and everything he does
-
Sidney, the gift that just keeps giving.
-
No you are thinking of James Last, he was no relative of James Wright, but he did often finish last so maybe there was a distant link on his mothers side Anyway back to Darcy Ward
-
Yes quite a close relative, but no relation to Steve Davis, who was no relation to Joe Davis who made mint balls I believe,
-
But that situation really did once happen in speedway, not with police officers I grant you. Oxford needed a guest for the absent John Davies, he was absent because he had joined Reading, and on this occasion the guest chosen was John Davies, must be the only time a rider has guested for himself.
-
Now come on, if you were involved in an accident what would give you most reassurance. A fully trained paramedic arriving at the scene or a pissed up Darcy staggering up, beer bottle in one hand, fag in the other? Darcy for me everytime Joking aside exactly as you say, no one other than the paramedics should be allowed anywhere near the injured rider. In the case of a rider who doesn't speak English then, if available, someone who can communicate between the two could be allowed but definately not any Tom Dick or Harry from the pits (should Ward have even been in the pits anyway?)

How did you go on in the seventies when Durex sponsored a few meetings, did you have a draw full of the things -
