  1. Not actually posting anything is usually enough for people to know you are not posting anything. You don't really need to make a post announcing that you are not posting anything
  2. This would not put Glasgows future the slightest bit in doubt. Looks like the promotion are just looking for an excuse to pull the plug
  3. Think you have done same as me. Those are the averages on the SGP website but they dont take into account the last two GPs It is all irrelevant anyway because, as you say, Tai is a most deserved world champion
  4. And just look how much quicker those guys have got since the series has been on Eurosport. Big well done to the guys at Eurosport for giving us a British world champion
  5. It isn't hard to see why the sport is in the mess it is with thinking like that Dont you grasp that a customer who makes a complaint is giving you a vital opportunity. Most customers of any business don't complain after a bad experience, they simply dont go again. When two people (the ones you chose to name) with over 80 years of watching the sport no longer want to attend you should be actively trying to canvass their opinions as to why not dismissing them. Bwitcher is spot on, you have zero sense, business or otherwise
  6. Speedways successful periods have owed more to luck than judgement. The late 20's it was a brand new sport but began to decline within a few years. The introduction of league racing regenerated interest to take it through to the war. Of course post 1945 in a country starved of entertainment the speedway boomed but by the early/mid fifties it was back in serious decline and stumbled along until the formation of the British League this brought about speedways most successful period but by the early eighties it was back in decline again, a decline that has continued to this day In a 85 year history only approx 25 - 30 years have seen the sport booming with 50 years of struggling along
  7. The first challenge to the system actually came 36 years ago. On moving from Exeter to Hull Ivan Mauger was so annoyed at Exeter getting £12K for him after getting him for free (under the old rider control) as did Belle Vue, that he stipulated in his contract that he would get a free transfer if he ever left Hull. It is a silly system where non contracted and self employed personnel can be deemed assets of a company
  8. That in itself isn't actually a reason to introduce something Ian. Riders approve of short stroke motors and super light flywheels which are a menace to safety but in pursuit of a few extra revs they will happily run with them. In reality though, despite the elephant guy, it isn't rocket science. Most injuries occur as a result of sudden impact, usually either the track another bike or the fence. The bikes and tracks cant really be addressed but the fence certainly can. A solid fence clearly doesnt absorb a fall at all so the impact is taken by the body. A mesh fence can absorb some impact, collapsible ones even more so but do have a habit of acting like catapults sending riders back onto the track. Coupled with other risks although preferable to a solid fence they are far from perfect A correctly installed (and I know there are issues her) air fence can slow and absord an impact without rebounding the rider back into the circuit. Yes you get the odd bad injury caused by an air fence in the same way you get the odd fatality caused by car air bags but to anyone with an IQ higher than average 2 year old it is a no brainer which is safer
  9. Speedway is both extremes. A poor meeting can be mind numbingly boring and there are plenty of league matches that fall into that category On the other hand a good meeting can be the most exciting sport on the planet, who could not get excited over races like this
  10. . Do you really need to ask! Have you considered medical help. Maybe you are already writing all this from your padded cell Whichever all you are doing is making yourself seem more stupid, to the point of retarded, with every post
  11. The point is though without any contract of employment then they are free to ride for whoever they want. It is like you laying claim to owning your window cleaner and trying to include him in the sale of your house. A club can employ any rider they want without having to pay loans or transfers because riders are not assetts of anyone
  12. Are you for real The whole point of an air fence is slow the impact. I know that, you know that, a child of two knows that. If the impact isn't slowed and dispersed elsewhere then it is transferred to the body. Now why are you struggling to understand that
  13. That maybe so, but it is the law and you are putting the forum at risk by breaking it
  14. That is the kind of comment that gets you in trouble. Mike Lee's past misdemeanour's are nothing to do with the current case and shouldn't be mentioned in context
  15. Haven't the beeb admitted to the fact now? The same thing happened with some fisherman later on if I recall, an organised campaign like the one for Briggo polled him the most votes They put a stop to it by having 8 hand picked candidates now though
  16. Would anyone part with money for "rider assetts"? That whole scenario only exists until someone challenges it. In reality speedway riders are self employed tradesmen able to quote for and accept jobs from who they wish.
  17. What is actually for sale though. He doesn't own Owlerton. All he is selling is the license to a business that is on the back of three poor years. It can't really have any value other than the few bits of track equipment he owns.
  18. Spot on. I could argue that Ford Mondeos don't need seatbelts because so far I have never had an accident in mine where it save me from injury. It is much the same as Machin arguing that an air fence isn't necessary at Sheffield because so far no one has been killed by the lack of one
  19. Quite. At least with Lindback you get the occasional bit of brilliance. Both Jonsson and Lindgren have just been consistently medioce/poor
