King's Lynn Stars 2017
pointsmeanplayoffs replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Any solutions/ideas to make things better then? Whilst I can appreciate the improvements which have been made this season by the BSPA, How re-assuring would it be if the BSPA were working on some kind of 'white paper' on the future of British Speedway - something which would spell out all the issues we have now/and foresee in the future - before setting out short/mid and long term plans for the sport in this country. This could be shared, at least then we'd all know where we stand and where we are going and how knows, there may be optimism rather than pessimism among speedway fans in this country? This kind of strategic planning goes on in business, why shouldn't it in speedway? -

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Not many people were sad to see Rory or Kenny go, everyone was excited about Holder and the prospect of Josh Bailey getting a ride. A few weeks in and it's all changed. Let's support the riders for at least the first 2 months of the season maybe? FFS. -
Kyle is a solid British rider, the sort of rider who any fan would like to have in their team as he always seems to give his all and has shown on numerous occasions that in big meetings he CAN pull some great wins out the bag. I fear he gets too much focus on him as he rides for Poole at a time when the whole reserve situation has been a right mess in the top flight thanks to the draft system. This focus and the never ending debate about how good he is could increase the pressure on him and harm his development. Personally, I think in this situation, a rider's performances in the Premier League rather than the Elite League are a truer reflection of ability and in 2016 Kyle achieved a CMA of 6.46 according to speedwaystats.co.uk which is decent enough but still there are many MANY riders achieving a higher average; Kenneth Bjerre Craig Cook Danny King Edward Kennett Sam Masters Josh Grajczonek Robert Lambert Rohan Tungate Steve Worrall Richard Lawson Richie Worrall Jason Garrity Aaron Summers Simon Stead Kevin Wolbert Ricky Wells Nicolas Covatti David Bellego Anders Thomsen Ludvig Lindgren Ulrich Ostergaard Rene Bach Stuart Robson Ben Barker Kyle Howarth Ryan Fisher Charles Wright Brady Kurtz Seb Alden Kevin Doolan Jack Holder Matej Kus Kenneth Hansen Claus Vissing Morten Risager Ryan Douglas Josh Auty Paul Starke Thomas Jorgensen Hugh Skidmore Erik Riss Nikolaj Busk-Jakobsen Dimitri Berge Nicklas Porsing Now some of these riders at the top are established heat leaders, but at best most are EL second strings/strong EL reserves and this is where I think Kyle sits which there is nothing wrong with. I think this season at Poole we can expect Kyle to be a strong, dare I say match winning reserve before becoming a bit of yo-yo second string rider when his average fluctuates. I look forward to following his progress, along with another rider in a similar situation Stars' Lewis Rose, this season.

I know what you are saying, however Doyle is coming back from a serious injury, Holder is flying and Robert Lambert is on the up and up as well so we'll see. Our riders are on the upward curve, are the others? I am not so sure... Should be fun to watch! -

Have to disagree with this. Any team with any title aspirations needs a top drawer No.1 who WINS races. Give me Holder at No.1 and reserve pairing of one of Porsing/Rose/Huckenbeck and a 3ptr any day of the week. Didn't Poole win the league with a 6 rider team not long back? If the other reserve is strong (and can take 1 extra ride) then its a gamble worth taking. We look STRONG on paper, with Lambert and Holder the strongest top 2 in the league. -
If Niels cant ride in the UK this year, then Chris Holder would be a superb replacement! He'd be box office with Robert Lambert. Would be a real statement of intent by the KL promotion if they secured the services of a former World Champion. That said, it wont happen as KL operate on a tiny budget so will probably use their asset base for 1-7 and see how it goes.

Sky Sports Deal
pointsmeanplayoffs replied to CookieIpswich's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Comparing Speedway to ANY other sport is madness. I can't recall an occasion where Michael Van Gerwen couldn't play darts on Monday in Dublin as he's playing for his Polish club and they pay him a lot more money. Or St Helens suffering an injury to their main player so bring in his equivalent from Wigan for a few games or even sometimes just go to a player from another country all together and bring him in. Our sport is unique, and not in a good way. -
Kyle Newman. Take A Bow.
pointsmeanplayoffs replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well done Kyle, yet again he shows that come the play offs he is ready to perform at the highest level. Hopefully the whole draft system will be binned in the winter and he'll have no choice but to continue his development into the main body of the team. He has the ability to be a 1-5 rider for sure and that should be his aim. -
What Would You Like From The Agm
pointsmeanplayoffs replied to kingbee's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Just want those in charge to think about making the product into something people want. Currently, it isn't. Which is why it's dying on it's arse, each year its the same old rubbish and people like me have had enough. Speedway should be entertaining, and the team that wins should be the best combination of 7 riders and NOT whoever is best exploiting the grey areas of the ridiculously complicated rule book. Stable team, regular race night, well prepared track, clean facilities, well run meetings, £15 admission. -
Poole Sign Lindback
pointsmeanplayoffs replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
43 pages already?!? How has Lindback been given an assessed average so low that it allows him to join Poole? THAT is the problem. I don't blame Poole for trying - everyone know their win at all costs attitude - I blame the governing body. The sport is dying because of rubbish like this. -

What a boring meeting. Thank god for Robert Lambert is all I can say. Without him there would be little entertainment. When he's sold to Poole it will be a sad day. -
King's Lynn Stars 2017
pointsmeanplayoffs replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Based upon previous experience, and operating within the current financial constraints, I feel nobody is being realistic. If things at the strategy of the club stays the same then I would rather we drop down to the Premier League. My Stars 2017 team; 1. Robert Lambert 2. Lewis Rose 3. Nicklas Porsing 4. Lewis Kerr 5. Rory Schlein © 6. Simon Lambert 7. Josh Bailey Now that is a title winning team in the Premier League and they are all our own assets. Finances don't allow for us to compete in the Elite League - can you imagine us splashing the cash to bring in a Greg Hancock like Poole did a few years ago? Never going to happen. We don't get enough crowds in to pay the big wages. Even when we were miles clear at the top of the EL a few seasons back we didn't get big crowds. -

You've misunderstood my post. I meant I would not blame him if he walked away now as in the end of the season which tonight basically is - some could argue our season never actually started LOL. I have no ill-feeling towards Niels what so ever, just think of the mess we'd be in if he hadn't helped us out this season?!? -

No Niels : ( I wonder if we'll ever get to see him ride for the Stars again. Can't blame him for walking away now as this season has been an utter shambles. Hope he comes back though, if not it makes sense for us to drop down to the Premier League and use our asset base rather than struggle in the EL without a true No.1 and not willing to break the bank to sign 'big names' which is fair enough. We've had some cracking wins versus Poole in recent times, none more so when Niels and Magic grabbed a last heat 5-1, how times have changed.... -

Never has one meeting summed up the state of British Speedway quite so well. Let's broadcast it live on TV too just to show everyone how it's a complete mess. -
King's Lynn V The Wolves 25/08/16
pointsmeanplayoffs replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Another home meeting, another meek defeat. A bumper crowd too. Shame the racing was poor, like it has been for most of the season. Lynn is now becoming a gater's paradise. Next season cannot come soon enough. Whilst I may be despondent, like so many other Stars fans are no doubt, I still found it repugnant to see a grown man giving Rory abuse after the meeting when he was doing some laps, I'm talking real aggressive w-anchor gestures and abuse. This was in front of what I assume was his young child. Sure Rory is struggling, and should probably be dropped, but come on, that behaviour is unacceptable. -
Another nail.....
-
With his recent injuries I doubt he enjoyed riding the much-maligned track at Wimbourne Road in its current condition.
-
I can envisage Buster getting on the microphone at the meeting with Poole next week to have his say, to try and clear and the air. Soooooo much negativity surrounding the Stars at the moment partially due to the communication vacuum.
