She did in the end, and he's in. Mainly because Jonathan looks like having problems with his shoulder.

Looks like he got him through the opening!

I have just received some terrible news from Jacqueline in Sweden. Peter Koij was riding in an International Open Meeting in Västerås, Sweden tonight. He fell in his opening ride, and suffered serious injury. It was just announced that Peter has died through heavy blood loss. I will post more information as I get it, unless our Swedeish friends can help? I interviewed Peter in Assen, and what a really nice bloke he was. He will be sadly missed. RIP Peter EDIT According to aktuellspeedway.se Peter suffered a puncture and fell hitting the crash wall. He was unconcious and bleeding heavily, passing away en-route to Hospital in the ambulance.

Just a few thoughts on the weekend. The new Indoor Stadium is a splendid venue, and was packed both days. The racing was top notch, but the difference between the Russians and the rest is considerable. Only Zorn and Simon got to both B Finals, although there were flashes of brilliance from Bauer. Without taking too much away from the Russians the West need to up their game if they want to compete. I understand the MFR have thrown money at the Ice racing this year, whereas the western riders have to rely on sponsorship and understanding employers. They need to be able to compete! With the season nearly over - just a couple of meetings in Sweden this week, all I can say is if Krasnikov decides to retire as a professional rider, he is going to be a hard act to follow. Heat 4 on Saturday showed how incredible a rider he is, last for two laps before passing all the others in the space of a lap and winning the race with the fastest speed and setting a new track record. And having seen Koltakov ride, Igor Kononov and Danil Ivanov may have their aspirations dashed unless they up their game! All in all, its been a great weekend with some fantastic racing and the excellent company of Iris123, Jacqueline and Lars plus anyone else from the forum I met

FIM have confirmed Jan Klatovsky to replace Mats Järf after all. Maybe he'l just tootle around at the back on Sunday. Wondering which Krasnikov will turn up - the happy one who won the World Championship in 2009/10 or the sullen one that left Assen two weeks ago?
-
Klabo thought his brothers season was over for 2011 when we spoke in Assen, but then again, Jan is as mad as his brother so who know?
-
Got to agree. he looks a good prospect for the Finns - any idea who will replace him at Inzell?

World Championship R7 & 8, Inzell 26th/27th March 2011 Draw: 1. Dmitri Khomitsevich 2. Peter Koij 3. Sergei Karachintsev 4. Danil Ivanov 5. Dmitri Bulankin 6. Igor Kononov 7. Grzegorz Knapp 8. Max Neidermaier 9. Harald Simon 10. Antonin Klatovsky 11. Ivan Ivanov 12. Stefan Svensson 13. Nikolai Krasnikov 14. Gunther Bauer 15. Vitalli Khomitsevich 16. Franz Zorn R17. Stefan Pletschacher R18. Mats Järf Reserves will replace the two lowest scorers on day 2 Krasnikov is only 8 points ahead, and looking at the top 4, it's his to lose. Krasnikov hasn't won an A Final since R2, Danil has won 2 A Finals, with Kononov and Dimon K 1 apiece. 13 points separate the top 4 and any one of them could win it by winning both A Finals.
