  1. FIM TEAM ICE SPEEDWAY GLADIATORS WC FINAL Friday 26th & Saturday 27th January 2013 Day 1: AUSTRIA 28 Harald Simon (2,3,3,3,2,2) 15 Franz Zorn (1,2,2,2,3,3) 13 Martin Leitner DNR RUSSIA 26 Danil Ivanov (3,2,2,3,2) 12 Dmitri Koltakov (3,3,3,3) 12 Nikolai Krasnikov (0,2,R) 2 CZECH REP 16 Jan Klatovsky (3,1,1,3,3,2) 13 Antonin Klatovsky (2,0,0,0,1) 3 Jan Pecina (0) 0 POLAND 15 Grzegorz Knapp (3,3,3,R,3) 12 Miroslaw Daniszewski (0,1,1,0) 2 Pawel Strugala (1,fx,fx) 1 GERMANY 15 Gunther Bauer (3,2,2,3,1) 11 Max Neidermaier (0,1,1,0) 2 Stefan Pletschacher (0,1,1) 2 SWEDEN 14 Stefan Svensson (2,2,1,2,1) 8 Robert Henderson (X,3,1,fx) 4 Per-Anders Lindstrom (1,0,1) 2 FINLAND 11 Antti Aakko (2,0,1,2,2) 9 Tomi Tani (fx,1,0,0) 1 Janne Vilponen (0,1) 1 The second day starts at 3pm, and will be on Polish TV. I'm not able to find a link, but I'm sure someone will. I'm looking forward to Heat 40 when Russia meet Austria and if all goes to plan we may see Austria as the Champions. Franky and Harry have got team riding down to a fine art and decimated everyone last night, dropping their only points to the Russians with a 3-3 in Heat 3. Krasnikov may be Russian Champion, but he was riding like a novice in his opening ride, letting the Austrians through. His second in Heat 10 was over the Austrians and he and Koltakov team rode so well to keep Jan Klatovsky out. But in Heat 15 against the Finns, he pulled up with engine problems, gifting the disappointing Finns a 3-3. That could be crucial when they get to Heat 40, as the Austrians are riding like they mean to win. I'm just about thawed out from last night, as it dropped to around -10'C last night and it was snowing too. Must admit, I'm impressed with the organisation of this meeting, having been here since Wednesday working with the promoters, and watching the organisation. The promoter is a hard task master but he gets the job done, as he was rewarded with a great meeting last night. Plus, the Polish team are not, as predicted by many insiders, in last place. Knapp is maturing into a fine rider with the potential to be one of the sports greats!

  18. I was considering the same trip and spoke to a friend who is FIM rep for the Austrian Federation. She suggested the train direct from Munich or Saltzburg to St Johann as at least you can rely on that to be running, plus its less stressful than driving in the snow/ice. From what I can gather, the Stadium is on the edge of town, whilst the station is well placed in the town. Had a quick look on bahn.de myself, and depending on dates there was a special price around €66 return going out Friday 18/1 returning Monday 21/1. This might be teaching Granny to Suck eggs stuff, but I've found that deleting the cookies for sites like bahn.de before I go back on to it usually means the offers are still on. I've had to cancel plans for St Johann, as I am going to Sanok the following weekend, as Mrs C can't get time off for both weekends. But this meeting looks good as there are some top riders pencilled in. I just hope that the Kosov twins get through to it from the Russian Final, as they are two of the most exciting Russians I've seen recently. Bit like Peter Collins when he would miss the gate and then win races, these two appear to have that same talent. Hope this helps.
