  1. Well it won't be Man Utd - even though they are the Poole Pirates of football!!
  2. .......................someone jumped the gun?!!
  3. Bomber backs Rosco: CAPTAIN Chris Harris insisted the Great Britain riders will all back new national boss Alun Rossiter as he looks to revive the team’s fortunes. Swindon Robins boss Rossiter was handed the top job on Wednesday after he was given the nod ahead of former Birmingham manager Phil Morris and is now charged with helping the national team improve on recent poor showings in the World Cup. Harris knows Rossiter well, having been part of the 48-year-old’s Elite League-winning Coventry side in 2010, and would love to be handed the chance to carry on as GB skipper under the new regime, as well as firmly believing the Blunsdon boss is someone the country’s riders will get behind..........

  5. Really chuffed that Rosco has got the Team GB job and hope he is successful at it. Bringing it back to the Swindon topic, I see he states that it wont get in the way of his job with the Robins and he hopes it will help to win more titles for Swindon. Sincerely hope that is the case and good luck to him!
  6. ....so are you saying he was crap when he was crap?!!!!
  7. Oh dear! And it was sounding quite promising till you told us that!!!
  8. There is no wrongs and rights of it. Whether we like it or not speedway is an expensive sport and I can't see many ways of reducing the costs significantly, unfortunately. Therefore, it's no good calling it a £10 sport when the expenses far exceed that cost. Yes, economies of scale regarding attendances would make a big difference but I don't believe they are there to win back easily, as you have alluded to.
  9. Just because there are a lot of them doesn't make them right!
  10. I pay £11 to watch my local non-league football team and these lads might be on around £200 a week if lucky. When you compare that to £16 or £17 to watch top league speedway racing at the costs involved in the sport these days it doesn't sound so bad to me.
  11. Why don't you ask him then - you have the contacts?
  12. It's a shame when you have to explain, isn't it?
  13. Definitely great value for the ST. I just hope it is sustainable at that price for the promotion/management.
  14. Not sure if he has retired but last I heard he wasn't interested in coming back to ride in the UK.
  15. Not sure if Steve has a presence on here but he is on Facebook and I am sure he would appreciate a message.
  16. This very good news - well done to Mick, Neil and Blayne for getting involved and taking it on. I will still mourn the loss of EL racing but the most important thing for Peterborough Speedway and speedway in general is continuity of racing at the EOES!
  17. Nasty injuries by all accounts. He had a 5 hour operation at Coventry & Warwickshire Hospital. He suffered a broken jaw in several places, fractures of his leg and arm plus damage to the shoulder. He will be having further surgery this week to his patella and cheek bone. He faces a lengthy rehabilitation process and first indications is that he will be out of action for six months. I think we underestimate the dangers these guys face doing their job. Steve, we are all thinking of you and hope you have a full and speedy recovery.
  18. I used to prefer a magazine but now I use my iPad for certain publications I do like it. Thank you. Are there any features in the on-line version that you don't get in the magazine?
  19. Sorry for taking it off-topic but I am going to try the on-line version of the SS in the New Year so I can read it anywhere on my iPad. Anyone tried it out yet?
