  1. The pricing of cakes can be split into 2 sections for attraction purposes. One for those who have an attachment to the old cake and continue to purchase the reduced quality of cake and those that have never sampled any of these types of cakes and prefer the aforementioned meat pie. I know someone who judging by his frame likes lots of meat pies, declined to try the cake due to the price. If it is considered expensive for a current cake enthusiast then you are unlikely to attract non enthusiasts to become the future cake munchers
  2. Thought the price of the cakes was not being reduced, just the manufacturing costs. Therefore the market is unlikely to see the latest version of cakes attractive for people to try.
  3. I've just booked a ticket for the basketball between the best two teams in the country, Leicester riders v Newcastle eagles. New stadium, in the main stand, great seats and lots of leg room, £13 for an adult.
  4. Whilst the signing and transfer of ownership/promotion may take time as you say and lack of general updates in that regard may not be classed as unprofessional,on the back of a thoroughly unprofessional closing couple of months or so, with unfulfilled fixtures, public losing money and riders not being paid, surely a tad of openness would bbea good start. With the way the previous or current owners/promotion treated the sport and public, it may have been nice for an update or two.
  5. Has it been established whether there is a double up/down limit?
  6. This probably shows how difficult it is to make a decision that appeals to all. I personally don't see that the EL is any less fun or more boring but it's each to their own. 4 things that impact and would become less attractive due to going EL I would say though are increase in price, quality of team, frequency of meetings and lack if association with home riders.
  7. Saturday evenings could/should be family time which is potentially why families tend not to go and crowds are poor. When we were in the PL I didn't go every week as there are other commitments on family time on a Saturday evening. My wife and my kids have no interest in going speedway despite efforts in my behalf and it is inappropriate for me at "family time" to tootle off every Saturday evening. Whilst everyone has differing circumstances, i don't see school nights being a huge problem. Firstly the amount of kids and families that go to the football does not suffer due to evening matches which actually finish later than speedway and will take longer to get away and secondly I don't see that many kids at BP anyway. All in all I don't think it will be a potential negative on attendances.
  8. I would say the best attended meeting of last few years was a Monday night meeting, against Swindon. I'm 100% with Beckett. I started playing cricket again last year and Saturday's are a no no. A few I know of haven't been because it's a Saturday. There is potential to tap into a market. Working in brum it'll be a rush but I'd rather do that than have Saturday night racing where I couldn't go. Put a decent team together for once and I'm sure the crowd would be fine.
  9. What do you know about new owners the flagrag? I assume with DD saying riders will be paid before the 1/11/16 that it's all been agreed.
  10. I know there will be fines if not completed and as a result it needs staging but that emphasises the fact that all the meeting is is a tick box exercise that no one really wants and as a result will be approached half heartedly.
  11. Meaningless farcical meeting where every thing will be half hearted. Nothing coming out of the club, not in contact with local media and no one knowing what's currently going on or plans for the future.
  12. Asked local radio today whether they were to do a piece on the current situation and they advised that they had requested an interview but had received no response. No one has a clue what's going on.
  13. After last couple of England performances I'd decided to give the football a swerve anyway. Work in Birmingham so can't get there on time now. Saves me £21 I suppose
  14. Didn't go at the weekend so don't know what DH said. However from my point of view a price increase with weak justification and an inadequate top 5 will see me pick and choose meetings, probably when it is warmer. I went down to Lakeside and it was awful. I cannot recall a sport where a price increase doesn't affect attendances. I would also say that this show DH's stance that he will lose 1/3 of his gate should he put on midweek fixtures is inaccurate and that he would rather put a non competitive Saturday side out. This season we had a real chance with our reserves to put a side together to challenge. Whilst there are a few ifs and ands, I rather watch a competitive side during midweek with Jason Doyle at 1 for £18. I went instead to the basketball, play off quarter final and it cost £11. A minority sport not too dissimilar to speedway. However in Leicester it is marketed well, website is not from the early 80's, in the local media a whole lot more than speedway and I would consider that there are a number of lessons that DH could learn from the Riders management.
  15. An utterly embarrassing night for the Lions. The gulf in quality between the two top fives that was apparent in Friday night was further confirmed. Without immediate changes that will happen frequently both home and away. Such a missed opportunity when we have the reserves we have. Crowd was poor and will no doubt get poorer. Can't believe that DH believes that a Doyle lead competitive mid week team would have more of a negative effect on attendance than that poorly constructed team.
  16. Listened from just after 6.15 for 20 odd minutes. No interview, no comment and no indication that anything was coming up. Speedway not mentioned once
  17. Don't quite recall saying that. With in effect a reduced points limit and with Doyle at 9.44, that would leave 10.89 I believe for the last 2 riders. You can either go for a 5.45 and a 5.44 and have Wozniak as your third heat leader or you could have a rider at 3.87 and a 7 point rider. All I was saying is that with such a low amount left, a trade off would be swiderski at what I feel is a low average. It's all choices. Tbh if you kept the top 5 as it were (which I am not advocating) we would be a lot stronger than at most of last year because of the reserves situation.
  18. Would have thought JD loved the track although there may be suggestions to improve it. With Wozniak confirmed and walasek in the pipeline that would leave just over 20 points left for 3 riders (I think). Doyle on a 9.44 does take a big chunk up if that amount. Thought swiderski was awful last season, equipment being a massive issue and i didn't want him back but on a 3.87 average, providing his equipment is sorted, it seems a bit of a steal. Such a low average would accommodate Doyle nicely and you'd have to think that he could improve on that massively.
  19. How many kids go? I don't recall seeing that many but I confess I am not really looking. I know a number which would be interested in going but can't as they are busy on Saturdays so a midweek may well suit a number if people and give a chance to attract a new set of supporters
  20. Think it was an interview in 2 parts. I heard the one last Tues and there was a follow up supposedly last Friday which I didn't hear. He was saying that we made progress as we finished 6th. A disjointed season due to rider issues but in a way that has benefitted the lions as they used a number of guests who were impressed with what we have and some indicated a desire to ride for us. He said that they have plenty to choose from. He said they first needed deal with ones they wanted to retain, Doyle, Wozniak and walasek if his shoulder could be sorted.
  21. Racing was not great but to a certain extent it's not going to he helped with Swindon carrying riders like last night. All the team were good last night and praise to Robert Lambert and Carl Wilkinson for their efforts. I would like to pay attention to the efforts and promotion of the evening. I genuinely am struggling to remember a time when such an effort went into the promoting of a meeting. Reduced prices, beer and food vouchers and air horns given away produced a good atmosphere and a big crowd. I would say that possibly 50% more than a normal meeting. Not everyone was on a reduced price but it goes to show, promote the product and reduce price and people will turn out. Would love to see what would happen if the same prices were implimented on a Saturday evening. With extra programmes and other bits revenue may be similar?? Let alone provide a great vibe and atmosphere. Having witnessed the potential last night...on a work and school night it must be worth an experiment. If it produces a small loss then you have at least tried and it may show an alternative at £10-£12 may actually work. Anyway apart from the massive queues....well done DH and the promotion for a good effort last night.
  22. It was right in front of me. Saw it perfectly. Janowski took Doyle's wheel. It wasn't a case if no gap or Doyle laying it down. Pure racing incident but should have seen janowski excluded. May have won with that decision. Think the ref didn't know what to do so made the easy choice. Match turner. Possible win list at that point but on plus side had a lil ole wager that janowski would go through the card.
  23. Decent meeting. Magic was superb but how he was not excluded in heat 15 is a mystery. Exiting turn 2 clips Doyle and "unsatisfactory start all 4 back" poor decision. Doyle on centre green on the mic was terrific. Criticised Bridger for ringing at 3:30 this afternoon saying he didn't want to ride anymore. Criticised the Dane's and said they should find some morals.
  24. Farce. 1 hour 15 before the start and the only source of info us on here. The promotion know at this point who is riding or not and there should be an announcement. The team is a mess and the sport is a mess.
