  1. DH confirmed Michelson back at weekend. Walasek out for 4-5 weeks. Didn't say anything about a guest
  2. Decent meeting. Passing and good moves. Wozniak whole lot better than previous week. Walasek looked very good and Doyle was also very good. Pleasantly surprised by simon Lambert in his first two rides with His passing and competitiveness but just seems to leave the door open for opposing riders a bit too much, especially on turn 3. Time will tell on Bjarne but he seemed to improve. Auty will have better nights. May have been a different result or at least closer with Zagar. Scott Nicholls though was excellent
  3. DH said on RL the other day that it will be the full team.
  4. My mistake. I was think of Nemo and never gave Linus a thought!!!
  5. Think Nemo would be a steel at his average. Would not have an issue with the top 5 being retained and you can make a case for all of them. Just need to sort the reserves out. Alternatively a season with Nick Morris at 1 would be worth watching.
  6. This can't be right. The idea of a league season is for each teams to ride the same amount of times against the same opposition. The idea to achieve a favourable result by not completing the season renders the whole league basis a farce. This would be the same in any sport, any league or for any team. Good luck to who ever is in it but this is wrong.
  7. With KN riding this season at 6.8 and JS at 1.6 I think it would make us stronger. Last year we had a number at under 2 and we have in JS. The timing that JS was brought in and the circumstances were wrong. He needed to start a season not come in with 10 or so fixtures left with a need to hit the ground running to try and bolster the number 7 position. It made it very tough on him and it is no slight on him that he couldn't do it from the off which is what was needed for the team and what was needed to justify getting rid of Branford. He looked useful indeed but the late season pressures mean he couldn't be given the time required. Quite liked Eklof last year but presumed that the comments by the promotion about not all riders wanting it that were made at the start of the season centred around him as he never looked all that happy. Also the 2 of the 3 to be omitted under such circumstances were MK and Eklof and they are both in the team now. Must have all been Makinen then!!! All a bit late in the day. Hope Nemo's operation goes well and wish him a speedy recovery.
  8. Good call. New averages come into effect on Sunday. Eklof and Makinen/Neilson fits then.
  9. Looking at averages, not sure how this will work with a Scandinavian or 2. The massive jump in the latest averages of MK and KD which sees MK as Number 1 just in front of KD means we have less to play with. Left it a too late on the averages front? Neilson ended with Plymouth at 4.41. Eklof ended last season on 6.24? Makinen was at 4.56 at Ipswich? Struggling with this
  10. I would have expected The Russian Rocket. But if it is scandinavian, that leaves Eklof, Makinen, Neilson. Not sure how averages work out but Eklof & Neilson? To replace Nemo and JS. Too late in the day. Circumstances and timing were wrong to give JS a chance. They did say that he would be at 7 for rest of season when he came in. At this stage you may as well just stick with it.
  11. Brilliant result for us. R/R for Nemo suits us down to the ground with him being second in the averages but this season only riding 4th.
  12. Whilst I agree with both statements generally, crowds levels to a a point are relative. Just because other teams may survive on say 600 doesn't mean we can. Financial viability will be different from team to team noting also that ours is the newest and should likely carry the greater overheads I don't feel it will go to the wall now but if with the decent crowds we still have not got the correct track equipment for Glyn to prepare a track (if costs or finance were the reasons) then it wouldn't take a huge drop to make it completely non viable. If you can't have the finance in place to provide the very basics that are required then it must be a concern.
  13. Harsh on the promotion and actually ignore certainly some of the major facts in them both not being at Leicester. The reason Kerr went was because we also wanted to keep Blackbird in a double up role and he wanted a full time place. Having stuck with Blackbird with scoring under 2 last season after a few weeks he decided he was unhappy and wanted away. The only criticism and mistake as such would have been ignoring the advice of the crystal ball tucked away in amongst the oily rags that said Blackbird would want away and as such giving Kerr the jacket at the start of the season instead.
  14. Not sure if there is a right or wrong solution. I don't know Robert, whether he practices or not and if he does how often. I don't know about his mechanical issues but it does look like he is struggling. He doesn't look totally competitive and recently a lot of his points have been gifted to him, although that is part of racing. If his confidence is shot then trundling at the back each race is not doing him any good. At the same time getting rid for some one else and not sticking with him may not do him any good. For the Lions, management and supporters, this is professional sport. It isn't a practice session at junior level or a trial. Come end of the season and the Lions finish 7th, no bonus points are awarded for sticking with a young rider where as the 6th place team didn't. No good DH, the Lions or team mates missing out on revenue or salaries because we stuck with a young lad. Supporters aren't paying at the gate to watch an extended trial. This is professional sport and it is often tough. At the same time the Lions would have invested time and patience in Robert. In 2011 the Lions gave Garrity a chance and stuck with him presumably for his benefit and for the benefit of the lions in 2012. He went to Rye House. Last year the Lions stuck with Lewis Blackbird who was achiving under 2 points and very much weakened the team. They gave him another chance this year. He decided to move on for his benefit. The Lions are in a difficult position. Stick with a struggling youngster for the potential good of speedway and for the youngster but to the possible deteriment of the results, performances, play off ambitions or Leicester Speedway as a business. Clearly everyone would prefer to stick with him if it pays dividends. Stick or twist, which is better?
  15. The situation with Karlsson needs looking into and resolving. No good to him or us if he is trying to ride whilst not properly fit. Had the injury 3-4 weeks or so now and still is a problem. May be the ideal time to sort out the team balance.
  16. Load the vans quick. Hemsley just turned up!!! There will be one hell of a session if last week is anything to go by. 12 up after 8 last week and then get 8 points in last 6 rides this week, especially with the main body of the team taking all 4 r/r. The back stretch sacrifice again. Good job reserves were decent.
  17. Very logical. I am sure the Thais at the KP, Cohen at the Tigers, Glazers at Man U and Abramovich all adopt such a policy, or better still the wives do (At the KP it probably would help). I'll walk into a local Santander and tell them what to do in a business that I have never had any involvement in...but I have shares. A manager is hired to manage. The moment the wife or the promoter gets involved on the basis that it's a family business then it is time to pack up, as the manager has been undermined and the riders or players dependant on the sport haven't got a scooby as to what is going on. She may be learning and may know her speedway inside and out but she isn't the promoter and isn't the manager. Luke and the Thompson Twins are also learning but I wouldn't have then in gates 1 and 3 on a Saturday.... just yet.
  18. Should they really just accept it and get on with it? A behind the closed door roasting is one thing but in public it is an entirely different thing. Any boss who dresses down an employee in front of clients is a workplace bully in my mind and their actions say a lot about them as a person. Does this kind of thing improve chances of a good performance in future? Such action will alienate current riders and will I am sure make alternative riders this year and in the future, think twice. How do you sell the club to future riders on the basis that a defeat will lead to a public flogging? Lions fans were all disappointed and he has every right to be annoyed at the sacrifice but on a day when there was a plus to be gained out of the quality of racing with some well chosen magnanimous words whilst at the same time expressing his displeasure during a closed door team meeting then fine but his actions have undermined the trust, loyality and faith in the whole set up. Publicly he has this season, criticized supporters and riders as well as apparently publicly falling out with sponsors. Is there anyone who really believes that these actions are to the benefit of Leicester Speedway?
  19. From what has been said on twitter, facebook and taking into account previous fallings out and the number of people who witnessed "something", it wouldn't suprise me that they all had had enough and quit and definately no smoke without fire. I was just saying what Doolan posted on twitter in direct response to the question. Whether he chose words carefully I don't know.
  20. Neither does 6!!! Apologies, Mick... he actually said "we never quit!!!" That may mean 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or even all 7. Best not to second guess. Could also mean that they were sacked though!!!
  21. In response to the question on twitter, Doolan denied quitting
  22. I too thought that it was the correct decision. MK didn't look surprised aswell, although if his shoulder is an issue that may have been of more concern to him. Have to be annoyed at the performance of the 3 heat leaders, utterly shown up by the Rebels. Morris sensational and even in a very bad defeat you can thoroughly appreciate what Morris in particular did last night. He had a real desire to try and pass and i think that that is all too rare. Whilst the track shape is not the best, last night showed the attitude also makes a difference. Heat 13 and 15 were all too predictable. Edberg has been excellent and will take some replacing. If MK is struggling fitness wise then perhaps 2 changes will come (unless all 7 are needed!!) and there may be an place for Roynon. Perhaps James Sarjeant will step in as has been indcated previously should time and need arise.
