  1. Yes it was Ali He did come back from the arm injury and rode for Oxford, Wimbledon and Milton Keynes but never really got back to where he looked like he going to get to. He then did have an industrial injury. Pretty sure he opened a clothes store with the proceeds which ultimately went bust. Hadn't seen him around speedway again until Waggy's reunion in 2006
  2. From my early days I thought Alistair Stevens had the lot. He and Gary Havelock were very much the shining lights in the mid 80's. Sadly Ali broke his arm at Cowley in the Easter Triangle in 1986 (I think) and was never the same rider again. He could have gone on to be very special I still cannot help but wonder what would have happened to Lukas Dryml's career had he not had that hideous crash in Slovenia in the GP. He was right at the top of the GP series at the time and looking like a World Champion in waiting. There is no doubt in my mind that the accident stopped this becoming a reality
  3. QUOTE (Rob B @ Mar 11 2008, 10:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> http://speedwaykrsko.si/index.php?lang=en&u=nacrt Cheers Rob
  4. Does anyone have a plan for the stadium. The online ticket site doesn't seem to. I am trying to book tickets for the Dryml touring party........look out for them Sandie !
  5. I can vouch for the fact that Tony went to Denmark this week. Sat next to him on the flight on the way and on the way back to Billund on Monday and Tuesday. On the way back I think we put the world of speedway right Guess we will have to wait and see why he went
  6. I guess time will tell. Not that you would expect me to agree with that statement though. Lukas will go to the GP's and have fun. I suspect from time to time he may just fuffle a few feathers and p**s on a few peoples parade He has certainly not been out of his depth all the way through the qualifiers and at a World level this season Should be an interesting one
  7. Agree entirely. I would caviat that by saying that only riders who compete in the qualifying process for the following season should be eligible for wildcards. While I am not arguing against Chris Harris and Andreas Jonsson's inclusion, I am pleased that the other 2 wildcards all chose to attempt the qualifiers as did a nunber of the existing GP riders who felt a place in the Top 8 was not certain At the start of the season I saw it as a bit of an arrogant approach from the two Brits who didn't bother with the qualifiers and assumed they would get picked should they not qualified. In the case of Scott Nicholls, I would have been pleased that had he not qualified he didn't get a wildcard. Harris I have more sympathy but he should be in the qualifiers this year IMO And to stick up for Jarek Hampel in all this, he may not have qualified but he did go through the qualifers only to fail at the final stage
  8. Really good meeting with soem find entertainment by all the riders. Daniel Greenwood was a wrothy winner on the night without doubt, defeating James Serjeant 3 times on the night but all the riders should be proud of their efforts
  9. Wasn't sure I did. Just saying what I saw last week which of course may have little bearing on Friday
  10. The three leaders Daniel Greenwood, James Seargent and Richard Franklin were all at Oxford last Friday getting a better feel for the track and Oxford regular Daniel Geenwood was very much the pick of the bunch. Looking forward to seeing the riders of the future in action
  11. What ? Pie man giving away free Ginsters. Fat chance !!!
  12. I suspect he was just as entertaining as in the Czech Golden Sash and Tomicek meeting. A vastly improved rider over the past couple of years and one to watch I suspect
  13. She always knows what I am up to Bryn, doesn´t always like it though
  14. Decent meeting too, the best Tomicek Memorial I have seen with superb entertainment between ¨races too
  15. Agreed the racing was top class with many very competitive races. Best wishes to Mario Jirout who it is reported broke two verterbrae and will haev an operation this morning after a frightening crash involving Rune Holta and Hynek Stuchauer
  16. I am sure it will still be a great meeting. Been in Pardubice since Wednesday and the weather has been OK. Bit wet this morning and forecast to be colder over the weekend but I am sure it will not spoil the fun
  17. Don't think so Parsloes. The final round of the Czech Extraliga is tommorrow (Wednesday) at Slany. Sadly we do not land until 7pm so too late to make it. So fro anyone who is going maybe I will bump into you. A combination of Teamn Dryml shirts and an Oxford Cheetahs coat will mean you have probably found me Don't worry about the top boys pulling out, the racing will be top quality whoever goes out on the track at Pardubice
  18. Spot on Steve. Lots of people make lots of money out of the GP circus and it won't change but for me a one off was infinitely better. The GP's are also struggling with keeping it going IMO. The changes to the points system have made little difference and to be honest we've known for the past couple of years who will be World Champion half way through the season.
  19. Look forward to seeing you there Jeff. Probably find us in the bar
  20. I hope Keeno stayed awake for the meeting. The only person I know who can sleep in his seat at Cardiff and miss 8 races
  21. And an advantage they deserve Now whether the GP series is right for Lubos at this time of his career is for debate but he done the qualifiers and many riders didn't expecting to yet again be given a free pass. Maybe free passes should be earned rather than being expected
  22. Well said Schumi, rather than appearing arrogant in not bothering with the qualifiers and assume you will get yet another wild card nomination. Said it before, if you are a wildcard and fail to requalify then tough luck, you shouldn't get another go
  23. There is an argument that the nominations should come from the riders who put themselves out to do the qualifiers and that is why I have respect for Hampel etc. Why should the same riders continually rely on nominations. I would say that you get only one nomination and should you not keep your place based on that then unless you do the qualifiers then bad luck Nicholls and Harris are in a position where they knew at the start of the season that for 2008 they would be in the series as the series will have 2 Brits and at the moment there is no other options.
  24. They were Tsumani. I have been with them tonight and they were over the moon and so was Lubos when he called Keith. He was so proud of mixingit with such company and provingto himself that he could do it Also apoke to Lukas by phone after the meeting he was just so thrilled and mainly for his father who has been through so much and backed them both in their return to racing. Ales Snr is one very proud father tonight. A few of the crew from the SOS team went over to Vojens to support Lukas and to show the thanks for the support he handed over his 2nd place trophy to Laura Pollard who is probably the biggest Dryml fan over here and whose family done so much for the Dryml family in their most needed time last year A terrific result for all of us in Team Dryml
  25. Cheers Arnie. Went to Slany for the 2002 World U21 Final and you are right about it being a poor stadium. Not sure whether its got floodlights yet but the timer of the meeting suggests not. What it does haev is a cracking pub at the bottom of the hill where you can get a meal for about £2 Obviously Lukas assumed the race had been awarded when he toppled off
