  1. Martin Vaculik won tonights Czech Championship on this own track at Slany He won the final when Lukas Dryml fell while challenging for the lead. Looks like Josef Franc was 2nd with Adrian Rymel finishing 3rd. An ill Ales Dryml failed to make the final finishing with 9 points in 6th Results are from www.speedwaya-z.cz although a 'confused' Lukas did say that Josef Franc had won the title. I'll go with the website version
  2. Then you will I am sure look forward to watching him in the GP's next season as well.
  3. No one would question how superb Leigh is ON track but he reallty isn't one to mingle with fans and he is not the character that some are. That shouldn't be taken as a criticism of him, its just the make up of us all is different
  4. Back to the usual tosh I see. Thought you'd been so much more sensible recently. Seems some topics just stop you moving on Just giving my opinion
  5. We stay at a Pension in Prague http://www.prague-accommodation.cz/ Run by a guy who speaks perfect English and will take Czech Koruna or Pounds Sterling if you wish. I have stayed there 4/5 times and its absolutely fine, two stops on the tram from the centre of Prague and cheap as chips but very clean and tidy. 1500Kc for a double room per night is around £35 You will get tickets at the track no problem, the stadium is huge and will be no more than half full
  6. Lukas has some seriously good kit ready for this I reckon he is in with a terrific chance
  7. I really started following speedway in 1984 but only really took much notice of the characters the year after. Therefore I really had prior knowledge of Kenny Carter. Given those circumstances I found the book fascinating. There are lots and lots of things about Kenny that were clearly very wrong but his love and passion for riding for his nation is something some of the riders of today could probably learn from.
  8. So did I, glad that my bet on Holta gave a better run for my money
  9. But it would improve the racing immensely. As you say, it will never happen though
  10. Of course its not Middleditch's fault Steve and it was nonsense for VV to suggest it was. Sadly we are a million miles behind in speedway terms But had we won the world cup I suspect you would have been here pretty damn quick telling us again how wonderful Middleditch was and putting a lot of the credit his way Can't have it both ways but he picked the best of a pretty bad bunch. Only criticism would be the fact that the team went to Leszno on Thursday and the comment was made last night that you needed a strong engine and our boys didn't have strong engines. Did it come as a suprise to anyone that you needed a strong engine at Leszno ???? Something went wrong somewhere in there
  11. Generally Olympic Prague riders get the wildcard at Prague. Lubos put up a very fine show last year and he is a much improved rider this year Reckon he is well worth the nomination. Lukas will be in all of them next year anyway !!!
  12. But I certainly am in no position to know myself so asking him may be an option. Fancy you getting in on this one
  13. I am certainly not defending Jemma, you seem to have read some words which are not there. I am merely pointing out that Leanne made a comment about what happened and I have suggested that without being there she was not in a position to say that. If you can point out where I have made any comment about what actually happened then please feel free to do so, if you can't then you do indeed have the ability to read something that I have not written. Have a go at me for defending Lukas crashes if you wish but do try to check that I have done so first. I haven't !!!
  14. And from a couple of thousand miles your view was no doubt perfect !!! Talk to Lukas at the next Peterborough home match, I have no doubt he will be more than happy to give you his account. This is the World Championship, its for real and is important. No doubt you watch Lukas week after week and if you do you will know how well he is riding for Peterborough and riding with the old Lukas Dryml fire in the belly. Well said Rabbit Again from a few thousand miles you have clearly had a great view !! Maybe you should not be so quick to condemn
  15. Ours is booked but if I am honest I have no idea what it is called, 4* place in the town is all I know
  16. Well we'd have never have guessed that would happen
  17. You were right Minder, 57 minutes of one sided womens tennis on No 1 court was the lot
  18. Not until 2009 for the sliding one Minder. Still, if I see some tennis great, if I don't so be it. I am sure the champers will be sweet whatever !!
  19. It will be from my living room Sunday morning for me as full blown hospitality at Wimbledon and the Centre Court has won the day on Saturday. Best keep the wife sweet
  20. Cracking weekend, you will not regert it. I am going on Wednesday 3rd (sadly too late for the Czech League meeting on the Wed night) with 19 others from Oxford and staying for the week. Normally stay in Prague but this time going straight to Pardubice on Wednesday and coming back to Prague for the Tomicek Memorial on the Monday. Train runs about every hour and cost about £1.50 each way. Don't expect to be able to sit though. Stadium is a 10 minute taxi ride away but you will need to ask for Plocha Drahy because the taxi drivers don't always know what you are on about. Would recommend going to Pardubice town in the morning of the Sunday to see the Helmet on display in the Jewellers window and see the parade which takes it to the stadium. Its very spectacular As for package deals, forget it. Do your own thing, I have booked 20 seats from Luton to Prague with Thomsonfly for a total of £860 (£43 each). Travel is cheap and hotels are as well (as long as you don't want luxury). I can offer some help of places to say but Jeff certainly has more knowledge than me on that ( we cheat and the Dryml's book ours for us). In fact we stayed in the castle together Jeff, remember ! Anything I can do to help PM me
  21. I am sure this could be confirmed as John's daughter is a regular contributor to the forum.
  22. Does he not have to make a choice though?? As it appears he is Danish for this one and British for the CL which he could ride in as a Dane
  23. Not sure of any other details other than that Lukas Dryml won the qualifier today with a 15 point maximum in Pardubice
  24. Don't worry Sandie. I had done my homework before I booked and had confirmation from Lubos and Tony Skach that the Golden Helmet was the 6th. I posted this to the International Thread.
