  1. If you want a cheap option not to far away from Marketa I can recommend Pension Klara. I've stayed there on 4 occassions Its basic, about £25 per night including breakfast for a double room and in Holsovice about 10 minutes by Tram No 1 or 18) from Marketa. It can be found at the link below http://www.prague-accommodation.cz/ The guy to talk to is Karol Holecek whose number is +420 220 80 90 09. He speaks perfect English and lives at the pension
  2. And for me Nielsen beats the pair of them ! The GP argument is blown away with Nielsen. NOBODY else would have won a World Title between 1985 and 1995 had the GP format been in during those years. For sheer consistency Nielsen was the absolute master, was it 4 wins and SIX 2nd's in his time. The other thing Nielsen had that Rickardsson certainly has NEVER had was the ability to team ride, apart from Bobby Schwartz nobody was in his class in this. Nielsen also done it at Longtrack level. His ability to help his team mates was 2nd to none. Add to that the fact that when Nielsen was at his prime so were Gundersen, Jan O Pedersen and Tommy Knudsen. The strength in depth at the top was far far higher than today. For me Nielsen stands out as the greatest all round speedway rider. Mauger is up there with him but sorry, Rickardsson is a great rider but not even in the remote same class as Hans
  3. I was very impressed with Filip Sitera throughout the weekend, at all 3 meetings. What is his background and which Czech club does he ride for. Could also say that Marco Muller put himself about in the evening meeting. Didn't even know the afternoon meeting was on, juts assumed it was the evening only
  4. He was very very good indeed. As indeed he was on Monday. I guess from a Coventry fans perspective that doesn't help !!
  5. Not sure if anyone has news of Jan Jaros who suffered an awful looking crash when Hynek Stichauer ran into him after he had fallen. Really looked very nasty

  7. Just returned from Czecho and can confirm that it was in fact Jonas Davidsson that rode in this meeting not Daniel.
  8. See you there Jeff, we will be around the start/finish line. I will call you mobile and we can meet up. Are you on your UK mobile while you are there ??
  9. 18 of us on Browns Tours this year Jeff...its getting bigger year by year. 14 going out on the Thursday to Tuesday and 4 of us on Saturday morning until Tuesday I know some of the Supporters Club from Oxford are with James Easters tour again as well.
  10. Crikey, can't see this level of exciting re-occurring for years to come then
  11. What a crazy situation where Miedzinski scores 13 points and finishes 8th and Schlein is in the final after scoring just 8. I know they are the rules but surely its crackers isn't it ?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Its gets worse with riders finishing 2nd, 6th, 7th and 8th in the final. Good luck to Miskowiak, while the others have earned the right to be in the final according to the rules, the only credible winner has to be Miskowiak in this race.
  12. I'm confident that Shovvy with those bionic eyes will have already decided that it was a duff decision by the referee
  13. What a crazy situation where Miedzinski scores 13 points and finishes 8th and Schlein is in the final after scoring just 8. I know they are the rules but surely its crackers isn't it ??
  14. Does anyone know the strat time of this meeting on 25 Sept in pardubice. Its normally 1ish but I did hear a suggestion that it may be in the evening to show off the new lights at Pardubice. Just I don't land in Prague until 9.15 on the Saturday morning and a taxi and train journey to Pardubice will be a hell of a rush for a lucnhtime start
  15. Dont write off Robert Miskowiak on his own track
  16. Spot on ML as someone who has seem him in 20 odd meetings this year tonios style is a bit wild and he is on the back wheel alot but he is just over-riding and trying too hard. His first race when he hit adams was too impetuous fair doos, the incident with boyce was just plain unlucky and 50% of the time boyce would have been xcluded rather than tonio for not trying too hard to stay upright. The 3rd incidedent was just going for the dirt line.Nerves and over-riding yes ..dirty definetly not. Glad to see the use of the word 'overriding' rather than dirty. For me its a tag that is too easily thrown at riders when in fact they are guilty of nothing more than giving 100%.
  17. Quite right. Wouldn't accuse him on riding dirty. Dirty riding suggests you meant to knock someone off, he was just completely out of control. An example of dirty riding was the right elbow launched towards Gollob by Crump as they went into the 1st corner in Heat 25. No place for that in speedway Both are equally dangerous though
  18. Taken from the latest Press Release and a real treat for fans of Oxford anbd Swindon from years gone by with some of the clubs all time heroes being present at Fridays meeting. Time to bring friends who used to watch these once great riders back to Cowley on Friday for what is a great coup for Oxford Speedway ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION FOR CLASH WITH LOCAL RIVALS The Oxford Silver Machine face their oldest enemy this Friday, July 23rd, 2004 when they take on the Swindon Robins in Elite League action at Oxford Stadium. The meeting is sponsored by Oxford Harley Davidson and there will be a parade of riders and Harley Davidson’s at 7.30pm with the first race scheduled for 7.45pm. To mark the occasion ex Oxford and Swindon Press Officer Glynn Shailes, along with Pete Seaton, has invited a host of former riders to celebrate the anniversary. 19. Quite impressive isn't it. My father was brought up in Cardiff in the 40's and said that Tiger Bay was a total no go area. Without doubt the roughest part of Cardiff and a place where you simply didn't go. Now its the most expensive real estate in Wales
  20. My £10 win on Greg at 18/1 made it a very special day Also meeting up with Lol Hare was great, he joined our group in the pub and have to say he was looking really good. He was taking girlfriend Lucy to her first ever speedway meeting.
  21. I will certainly hope to get to one of them. I'll be easy to spot, newly made Ibizan tan, No 1 cut all over my head and my Czech Speedway Team Dryml light blue Polo shrt
