  1. Not really, no more that your quote that Sky's coverage is far superior than Eurosport's coverage. Being as Eurosport's coverage have been mostly live feeds that Sky would use with existing Sky presenters there is little difference, so small in fact, I can easily tolerate it so see speedway on TV. You just appear to find fault with everything Eurosport does and without Eurosport we would not be seeing it at all, certainly not be covered on BBC would it? Just be happy with what we have, please.
  2. As it is on until 6.00 pm from 3.30, 2.5 hours I would imagine it will be shown whole with delayed coverage, I have seen this done before with otheer sports on Eurosport.
  3. Nothing to do with volleyball coverage that is on after the speedway at 6 pm. The speedway immediately follows many hours of the live Moto GP on Eurosport 2 and the other Eurosport 1 channel has live Tour de France cycling all afternoon. I believe Eurosport have fitted this coverage in well on Sunday. I shall record it anyway and watch it later in the evening so the time it is on matters not.
  4. I will be counting the number of times Kelvin uses the stupid expression "early doors" which in itself makes no sense
  5. Somerset is a superb venue, a pity there are not more tracks like it, certainly not a one-line-follow-my-leader track. Thoroughly enjoyable racing.
  6. We keep reading all this criticism of Sky and its presenters, but without Sky there would be precious little speedway on TV. I remember years ago Anglia TV did a half hour speedway show occasionally, the filming was abysmal. The BBC does not even know speedway exists. Sky have set up facilities for filming at a number of tracks and on the whole the production is very good, there is nobody else willing to do it. Just about every sporting presenter shouts, I can put up with that to see speedway on TV. Eurosport has taken over showing the GPs which is great, all that is is needed is a feed, no cameras needed, no production staff, just presenters.I doubt they would be so keen to take over showing the Elite or Premier League with the need for sending crews and cameras if Sky stopped showing speedway next season. If speedway was not on Sky I doubt is would make much difference to attendances, recent meetings on TV from King's Lynn looked like a very good turnout in what could be called a relatively poor catchment area compared to Birmingham, Coventry, Swindon, Belle Vue, etc. and of course there is the fee that Sky pay to tracks for filming rights. Less nit-picking, less grumbling and Sky may renew filming contracts next year
  7. According to the King's Lynn web site the meeting against Swindon is scheduled for not May but JUNE 26th which is a Wednesday http://www.kingslynnstars.co/index.php/elite/stars-fixtures-results
  8. With Emil chasing any rider just to make a prediction from which direction he come from next is a big problem, that guy just does not stick to one line, inside, outside, every which way, making the rider being chased very hard to cover him. His track skill is terrific. This GP started of a procession but as the meeting went on got more and more exciting with more overtaking. Great pity about Ward, hope his injury is not as bad as a broken collar bone.
  9. I too am looking forward to this meeting tonight, it will be great to see some different riders and teams and if ths meeting goes the same way as other Premier League meetings on Sky we will much enthusiasm and commitment from the riders which makes up for the racing maybe not quite so fast.. I have no favourite team tonight so good luck to both of them
  10. What a great evenings entertainment, one of the most spectacular, exciting GPs I have seen over many years.
  11. I am just happy we have speedway on TV this year so I find it relatively easy to tolerate the presenters and presentation. All in all I believe Sky and Eurosport this year providing us with speedway on TV are doing a pretty decent job of it, so I am very cautious about being too critical of either of them. Good job we are not relying on the BBC for coverage, they do not even know speedway exists
  12. Would speedway gain in the long run with reduced admission prices. We keep seeing admission prices rising with people having less money to spare. If admission prices were considerably reduced would they attract more people, once in the stadium they would then buy a programme, drink, hot dog, etc. Tracks are nowhere near filled to capacity, so would say reducing to admission something like £8, overall generate more money through increased attendances. Speedway is run whether there are 500 of 5000 supporters and many who do not go now would be maybe willing to pay say £8 rather than £14. Anyone got any views on this? There are often venues and places open to the public, not only speedway, where I look at the admission price and say, no way, too expensive, I cannot afford that. This is OK for the venue if by charging high prices they can run at crowd capacity level but if people are reluctant to pay these high prices and do not turn up, it then it soon becomes a loss making event.
  13. That is an excellent point Whereas with the GP Eurosport can just pick up a feed the Elite League is a different animal there is no feed for Eurosport to be able pick up if they took over next year as Sky do their own filming and many tracks I am almost sure are hard wired by them so they can just plug their cameras in.
  14. I will still subscribe to Sky Sports for the Elite League meetings, if however Eurosport took over showing them next year then i would seriouslt think of cancelling. I do not think Sky will show speedway after this year as the people cancelling now will reduce viewing figures even more. Whether Eurosport take over will depend on viewing figures of the GPs. Where the GPs they are just buying a feed with the Elite League it is not so easy as their own camera and production crews have to be set up at a large number of differen tracks. i think at many tracks Sky has the wiring permanently plumbed in and it is just a matter of connecting up
  15. I dislike tactical rides. If a team goes behind or is winning by a huge margin, then so be it. Years ago when I supported the Stars at Norwich we never had these tactical rides only the reserve could be brought in to replace a rider, I was never bored watching speedway then regardless of the result and went to every home meeting until they sold the track to build some pretty dire unattractive housing. We used to get far larger crowds then than they do anywhere today.
  16. Better them than have no GP Speedway at all. Personally, I do not mind them.
  17. Further to by post number199, I see the statement "Live speedway only on Sky Sport" has been duly removed.
  18. I notice on the Sky Sports Speedway title page under the main picture they have 4 statements this latter one I quote below is no longer quite correct, need to be updated Also looking further down the page under "don't miss these" heading I don't think somehow we will be able to download any GP programmes in future, again the page needs updating
  19. I am not too worried about who the presenters or commentators are, I am just glad we have SGP on TV for the next three years, courtesy of Eurosport. Only one week to go now.
  20. A believe that when a restart is called after a false start there should be no return to the pits, the pit gate should remain closed, the riders to return immediately to the gates for the restart. Last season we had so much gardening and faffing around at the tapes it just got ridiculous and boring to watch, there seriously needs to be something done about it. The suggestion that a tape be put across the track a few feet behind the riders when they get to the tapes is a great idea, It would prevent riders doing a circular tour of the stadium by turning round and heading back on a scenic ride to the third bend and sometimes beyond. Some refereeing decisions made last year also spoilt the racing, referees need to be more consistent and fair in their decisions. On TV I saw many riders disqualified. who never deserved it or when it was 50/50, even when the referee could see a replay.
  21. As posted by others earlier here you do not need the Sky Sports package to view British Eurosport. However you do need the Entertainment Extra package, you probably have that so that is why you can see those Eurosport channels.
  22. I am just happy that the GPs will be on TV fo the next 3 years, the commentators whoever they are I will endure. I already pay Sky the full package which includes HD and Eurosport. So a big thank you to Eurosport from me.
