I put the TV on tonight to watch the speedway only to be greeted with a screaming and manic shouting noise and no, it was not Nigel and Kelvin, but that repetitive crappy rapping noise played during the introduction of teams and riders, which some might call a type of music though I would disagree as to it being music. I just hope that was just a one-off and it is never played ever again.

Perhaps they are putting fewer meetings on earlier in the year when they are more susceptable to rain-offs and will show more in the summer months.

I sometimes wonder if all this messing about at the tapes is done on purpose to spin the evening races out. It is also showmanship. If the riders were all ready to come out of the pits on time and went up the the gates without all this messing about the meetings would not last very long.The actual racing time for 15 heats is actually only about 25 minutes and that is very generous. Unless one is an ardant speedway fan, outsiders would not think this was very good value for money, especially if one has the expense of travelling to an event only to find it is rained off.

Team speedway is fine if it is actually a team. After this year's debacle watching teams race with riders from all over the place just making up the numbers it is becoming a bad joke. There appears no actual team just pick any number of riders on a random basis to make up the numbers and call them a name. The laughing stock of the sporting world. What next, make it official— have pool of riders willing to ride put their names in a hat and select your team on a weekly basis. Some people somewhere who have speedway at heart needs to sit round a table and decide what direction Elite League speedway is going. At the moment it looks like a blind 3-legged donkey pulling a cart being driven down a track by an inebriated handler heading towards a 100 ft cliff

There was terrific racing especially in the first leg with loads of exciting overtaking on a superb grippy track with wide bends and loads of lines to race from. Not many first-from-the-gate processions that we see far too many of. I thought the second leg not quite so entertaining as the result was more predictable and the track too slick and dry for that close racing and overtaking modes. Eurosport did a great job bringing us this racing from Sweden and I hope to see it again next year. Thanks to Ghostwaker too.

When Sky dropped the GPs if the BBC had taken them over and shown it in on BBC1 HD on Saturday nights it would have been far better coverage :party:
